Ben was amused, despite being stuck as Santa. He'd volunteered his family to help the local mall; he had, because Thali had refused. The elf very much disliked this tradition--for good reason. Christmas and elves just didn't mix--they were always mistaken for Santa's.
She looked the part, except for the smile that one would have expected Santa's Helper to be wearing. She was dressed in a knee length bell like dress, belted in the middle. To make matters worse, the dress had bells lining the bottom of it. It was green, as were the striped stockings she wore underneath. When she moved, the jingling of bells could be heard. She was wearing pointed shoes, with bells on the tips. Ben had insisted on the bells, though Thali didn't see what the big deal was. Elves of Lynwood liked to move silently, so people weren't able to sense their presense. This was simply humiliating. If only she'd been able to design her own costume, it would have been much more appealing. She would get revenge. Oh yes. Ben had better watch it.
Sammi and Reiya, unfortunately, were not allowed to visit with Santa. They knew who he was, and knowing Sammi's loud mouth, the secret would be out in a matter of minutes. They did get a part in the holiday, spirit. Reiya was providing the snow that was coming down onto the platform Ben's--excuse me, Santa's throne was set up on. Providing as in, it was actual snow. Sammi was providing lit candles for those who wished to participate in caroling. She wasn't using the box of matches her father had given her, either.

Arivoli took off running from looking in a store window to gaze into another, fascinated by all the merchandise on display. Liliwen inwardly sighed, yet a small smile remained on her lips. No doubt he was wondering just what he was going to bring home with him.
The quiet sound of tinkleling bells, quickly diverted Arivoli's attention from the flashy display to gaze at the milling crowd, peering forward intently and taking several steps to determine just where that sound had come from. Liliwen quickly sprang forward to grab him before he took off, but Arivoli flashed her a smile and a laughter that said, 'you can't get me!' He took off running, weaving between legs and soon out of sight towards the mysterious sound.
"Arivoli!" Liliwen shouted, "I can't take you anywhere!"
Arivoli's sprint soon slowed as he came to a rather busy section of the mall, and watched in amazement as he finally saw who sat upon a large throne.

Peony hated malls. Absolutely hated them. There was no better hive for the obnoxious and unintelligent members of society. However, as much as he loathed them, he grudgingly accepted their usefulness, and so was wandering through the halls, getting his small Christmas shopping list taken care of.
Or at least he had been until he had spotted the line to see 'Santa'. Although he currently possessed a very Scrooge-like attitude towards Christmas, solely because he was now once again forced to spend it away from Paradise, he didn't ignore that meeting a mall Santa was a staple of the childhood holiday experience. Plus, he'd been a major downer lately, and owed Echo a little excitement. So the pair were standing in line, making a good portion of the customers irritated as a huge gap formed in front of him. He did have a valid reason - writing a letter to his far-off love - but the mallgoers weren't a very understanding people.
Echo clung with one hand to one of Peony's pantlegs, wriggling in anticipation as waited in line to see some man in a red suit that was called 'Santa'. Everyone else was excited to see whoever it was, so Echo supposed that he should as well, despite his lack of Christmastime knowledge. He knew that it was getting colder and people were suddenly nicer -'cept Ny-ny-, but he didn't quite understand what all the fuss was about. Regardless, he seemed content to be excited to see this man in all his glory and giggling at the huge empty spaces that formed in front of his guardian.

Thali had spotted Liliwen, and went scarlett. The well placed sparkles on her cheeks gave her the appearance of glowing. "Of course, when I'm being humiliated, someone I know just has to show up," she muttered to herself, before looking down to Arivoli and forcing a smile. "Hi, you ready to see Santa Claus?" she askied kindly. "Just step up onto the stage, and tell him what you want for Christmas this year, alright?" Okay, she couldn't help it. Children had always been Thali's weakness. She shot a glare towards her husband as she helped Arivoli onto the stage. "Here you go," she said cheerfully. She sat him on Ben's lap, before whispering, "Tell Santa he needs to lay off those cookies, he's getting awfully chubby."
And with that remark, the elf went to greet the next family in line. "I assume you want to see Santa too," she said, addressing Echo. "Oh, don't be shy! Here, have a candy cane," she handed the little boy a white and blue striped one. "Do you know why they made candy canes in that shape? It's because of the shepards that visited Jesus on Christmas day! And if you hang it upside down," she demonstrated with a red white one, "It makes a J, see?" She didn't bother to look up at Peony. She hated the very idea of being in front of adults in this outfit.
Sammi on the other hand, was quite happy to oblige. "Here sir, if you want to join in the caroling, here's a candle. Don't worry, it won't go out. Don't try blowing it out either, the flame will only grow." She smirked. "It only goes out when I want it to."

Echo looked up at the elf with bright teal eyes, wiggling a bit at the bells on her outfit and reaching out to paw at them gently. "Meet Santy," Echo, well, echoed softly, rocking from foot-to-foot. He really didn't know who this 'Santa' person was, but he guessed that it was the one in the special chair. He peeked around the woman's legs and frowned a bit. He wanted a special chair... But the candy quickly distracted him from that and grabbed at the candycane.
"Nums!!" he squealed, grabbing it and tugging the wrapper down to suck on it happily. He wiggled and stared while the dressed-up elf explained something about candycane shapes. He replied with another comment that the woman had already made, though altered into his baby speak. "Sheepies," he replied in response to the 'shepards' comment.
He looked up when a kid walked up to him and his guardian, watching the flickering flame of the candle in awe. Partly distracted from his candycane, he stared at his guardian, before stepping back toward him and tugging gently at his pantleg to pull himself to his tiptoes, reaching with the free hand up toward his father. "Candlie...!"
Peony blinked, having not realized that they were at the front of the line already, and stared for a blank moment at Sammi before smiling lightly and taking the candle. "Oh really? That's cool. I bet you could make it burn forever." he said kindly to the small girl with a rare smile. Anyone having to do something like this needed a smile to get through their day.
He looked at his son with a smirk on his face and shook his head. "No, no candle for you, Echo. You have to go with the nice lady and sit on Santa's lap. If you've been a good kid, he'll bring you a special present on Christmas, so you better tell him what you want right?" The tired Eilian smiled lightly. Being this cheery always gave him fatigue. But hey, even with all of the crap that was going on, it wasn't his place to ruin Christmas.

"ELLERY! ELLERY! Ellery, get your furred butt back here, Mister Man! Ell- Dammit, C'M 'ERE!"
The cries of a very cheesed-off Joseph could be heard pretty much throughout the entire mall as the street rat chased his foster son down the large main hallway, grinding his teeth in frustration as he tried to keep up with his small, agile son. Mentally, he hit himself in the head; he should have known better than to take his greedy boy to the mall when they were having Mall Santa happen, even if that was a choice crowd. He was certainly paying for his stupidity now.
In contrast to his guardian's frustration, Ellery was having a ball of a time, giggling madly as he darted threw the small stalls, confusing Joseph as much as he could before making a mad dash to the front of the line to see Santa. He had wanted to stay in line when they had passed it before, but Joseph was mean and had said no. However, not to be outdone, Ellery had wiggled out of his grasp and ran all the way back to Santa. As he approached the front, he giggled. He wanted a lil' candle, too!
Skidding to a stop, he wobbled, nearly falling over, before darting to where Echo was and clinging to his arm, breathing heavily as he looked over his shoulder for his daddy. Grinning breathlessly at his new friend, he waved unnecessarily. "Hihi! 'M Ellree! Can I sees Santaman witchu?"

Ever since the events that took place at the halloween party, Alome had been more and more excited to meet new people. She was flittering around like an overly excited humming bird, floating nearby her father's head.
Noel smiled, holding her withing his barriers as he approached what seemed to be a large Santa area. He honestly always loved these places, filled with so much memeries, and he hoped to create some with his two little wards.
Irae was toddling along beside Noel, holding onto his hand, loving the fact that he had someone to touch. His mom hadn't held him since he was given to him, and to know that someone loved him enough to hold his hand made him the happiest little boy in the world. He swung his arms back and forth in delight
As they drew closer and closer, Noel realized who was in the costume of an elf. "Well.. Lovely Costume, Thali~ It suits you~"

Arivoli looked at Ben with wide eyes, amazement filling them to the brim. His mouth was partly open as he sat frozen, unable to move, lest his incredible luck be shattered. He was touching Santa, and that thought alone held enough force behind it for him to be rent speechless. But then, when the shock lost its numbing grip on his brain, one thought immediately jumped to the forefront. 'Santa brings presents!'
He beamed and excitedly began to tell Santa what he wanted. "I wanna toy car, super glue, pogo-stick, clay, football..." And so he went on, and when he exhausted his ideas, he blurted out the next toy that came into his mind that he hadn't mentioned before. And he repeated some, just so he was sure Santa knew he really wanted those ones.
Liliwen sighed in relief as she heard, and then saw, Arivoli sitting on Santa's lap. "Figures he'd find this place," she grinned. In the midst of the constant buzz the mall was constantly in, Liliwen's ears picked up on a familiar name. She turned to the source, and after the few moments it took her to recognize her friend in the elf costume, a smile appeared on her face, though she wasn't quite sure if it was more from seeing Thali, or from seeing Thali in an elf costume.

"Santa, Santa, Santa!" Kait wanted to put her head in her hands, she would have too, but her hands were full of shopping bags and squirming children. Curse her own stubbornness. Who needs a stroller? Right? Isn't that what I said? She smiled down at Riina and Hunter. "You need to be patient ussta dalharen. Santa has millions of children to see every year." She maneuvered them into the line and looked around. The mall was busy this time of year. More so than usual. Commercialism at its best, yes? She sighed and squeezed Riina's hand. "Riina dear, hold onto your brother while I rearrange some of these bags." Obediently the toddler reached out and yanked Hunter's hand into her own. He leered at her and let out a half-threatening snarl, but said no more. Riina grinned and held herself a little higher. She liked it when mommy put her in charge. Rolling his eyes Hunter leaned to the side trying to peek up to the front of the line. Santa was talking with another kid, while nearby a pretty lady was handing out candy. Someone else was giving out candles. Mommy liked candles. Or maybe mommy just liked the way candles smell. Mommy like things that smelled good, and so did he.

Thali politely waited for Arivoli's picture to be taken, and for the boy to finish telling Santa what he wanted for Christmas before helping him down off the stage. "Here you are," she said, handing him a candy cane with a smile. "Tell your mother merry Christmas as well, alright?" It was unfortunate that she wasn't able to escape from the crowd of people to speak with her friend. She waved to Liliwen, before looking to Echo. "Okay," she said, helping the boy onto Ben's lap. "Make sure you tell Santa to eat more carrots instead of cookies."
She paused when she heard Noel, and glared at him. "It does not," she retorted. When she set eyes on Alome and Irae, she forced a bright smile that reached her eyes. "Hi Alome, Irae," she greeted them each by name. It was an advantage, knowing the children. "Merry Christmas! Are you two here to see Santa Claus?" She asked, before handing each of them a candy cane. "Sammi, can you keep an eye on these two while I talk to Noel for a moment?" She took Noel's hand and led him towards a rather large pile of faux snow. "Help me," she muttered. Honestly, the elf felt overwelmed.
Samantha smiled at Peony. "I could, if I wanted to. I can also make fire that doesn't burn at all," she would have continued, if her mother hadn't interupted her. "Aw mom!" She complained, handing Peony the candle. "Merry Christmas!" she said brightly, before going over to where Alome and Irae were. Her first official babysitting job. Cool.

Zee had been looking forward to this all week. A chance to tease Thali while she wasn't in a frightening stage. A chance to tease her when she wouldn't be allowed to react because of the children present. Unfortunately, his hands were full with two toddlers, or he would have taken advantage. Howl was holding onto Zee's right hand, wearing something he especially disliked.
He was dressed in a bright red wool sweater, the scratchy kind that made him twitch. It had a white snowflake pattern. It was something the toddler normally would not have been caught dead in. He missed his suits. When he spotted Santa however, he brightened considerably. A smile crossed his face. "Daddy, we gonna go thee Thanta?" he asked.
Zee merely nodded. Ben wasn't his target, so he had paid little attention to the fact that he was playing as Santa.
Devin wasn't paying any attention to the conversation. His golden eyes were wide with wonder, he was looking in every which way, a bright smile plastered on his face. He was being careful to take everything in.

Liliwen waved back at Thali as she noticed Arivoli rushing towards her, holding out his candy cane as proof of how awesome Santa and his elves were.
"Aren't you lucky," Liliwen said. "Did you manage to tell Santa everything you wanted?" she asked, knowing how long his list at home had been. Arivoli nodded enthusiastically, stuffing his candy cane into his mouth.
"Oh," he said, yanking out the candy cane. "Santa's elf said Merry Christmas to you!" Smiling at a message well delivered, he stuck the cane back into his mouth as a reward.
"Thanks, Arivoli," Liliwen laughed. "Come on, let's walk around a bit more. Maybe Thali won't be so busy when we get back, then you can meet her properly." She looked up at where Thali was busy working, still wondering at the coincidence that she saw her here.

Ivy listened to her daughter looking around and point at bright things that caught the child's attention. Ivy had chosen to carry her daughter again, but the little girl was pulling at the red dress edged with white fluff as trim. Ivy had turned down any job offers for the holidays, refusing to miss time with her daughter.
Eve didn't like the red dress that her mother had put her in, but at least she could see the many lights and things around her. Her mother had been busy for the past week on what she called a job. Eve didn't know what she meant by that, but she was happy that her mother would be around for the holiday.

Iggy sat on his mother's shoulders, less becuase he wanted a ride and more becuase the toddler was half asleep. The little cloaked child was leaned forward with most of his body and head resting on the adult's neck and her head. for once it was not the time of day that had worn the boy out but simple lack of energy. Iggy had never been shoppign in a grand mall before and certainly not all day. Though the little will o the wisp boy had had fun, he now owned his very own stocking, advent calender and he'd helped picked out some of the decorations that would be going up soon in his home. Now though he was exhausted and paying little attention to anything going on in the mall except his little soul lights floating around him..
Blaice was not a hundred percent invested in Christmas but she did want Iggy to be able to enjoy the holiday so taking him shopping and getting him used to the idea of the upcoming festivities seemed like a good start. Besides she did like the general cheer and good will this time of year encouraged in others. That in mind the golden haired seraph wandered towards the area where a line was already forming to see santa, if nothing else it would be cute to see how Iggy reacted to this.

As the other boy came running up to and nearly tackling him- nearly. Luckily he seemed to stop himself and grab onto Echo's arm, making him jump and nearly fall over himself, teal eyes wide at the new, furry-legged creature who had attached himself to the pale little boy whose other hand was still clinging to his guardian's ankle. "Lell'ry..." he replied, gently poking the side of the boy's face with his candycane before sticking it back in his mouth, nodding even as he looked up toward the red-clad man.
"Echo 'sme," he stated, pointing to himself with the candycane now. His eyes were wide after hearing what his daddy had said about the Santyman, and now he was more excited than ever to be able to go speak with the man, list all the things he wanted for this 'Christmas'... what was Christmas? More important than that...
...what did he want for it?
When Echo was helped up onto the lap of the man, he tugged Ellery up beside him, if only because he'd agreed to let the other boy come with him. Gently, he prodded the man's belly and looked up at him with a 'stern' face on. "Mow' cawwots, no nums," he stated firmly at the other, before trying to think over what he really wanted, letting the furry-legged boy prattle on about what he wanted before his eyes got wide and he smiled brightly, bouncing a bit. "A pinano!!" he exclaimed happily, tugging a bit at the man's coat. "Wan'na pinano, Santy!!"
More than anything in the world.

Eve pointed to a long line, curious as to what was going on that made the line form. She knew her mother would know and the little girl only knew a few things about the holidays.
Ivy chuckled and carried her daughter to the line, knowing that it would do the child good to meet Santa. Ivy herself didn't believe in the guy as she hadn't been raised with gifts and presents when the snow fell. She wasn't going to raise her daughter that way though.
