So you want to know more about the stages and what your child and you will be going through? This is the right place to go. If your question isn't answered here, please feel free to post it in this thread, but please include what stage it's for!

Wand

Can a guardian Feel what the wand is? Like, the past or emotions or whatever?

The wand is in it's DORMANT in this state. There is absolutely no indication other than the small glow that starts when the correct guardian touches it. Unless your character is an insanely good psychic, there's absolutely no way to tell it's not a battery-powered toy other than being told so.

Baby Ghost

THIS Stage is more active, Right?

Yes. This stage is more active. It's just a typical baby now, only in smoke form. It can't talk, but it makes gurgling and other baby sounds in your head. Unfortunately, you're the only one that can hear them and people probably will think you're crazy. Especially when they see a baby of smoke trailing around behind you.

Are they still able to be sucked up by things? XD

Well...Sort of. As long as they're holding onto their miniature wand, they're pretty much like a solid baby. Except you can't hold them, feed them...or any other pesky things like that. You can talk to them, they can communicate with you...if you can understand their baby speech (most parents have an uncanny ability to understand the gibberish kids spew).

If they lose the wand somehow, they become a mass of free smoke, like the wisp, and even if you manage to get them back together they'll have deformaties once they're a real baby.

So what am I supposed to do with a floating mass of smoke?

This is a bonding period. You need to give this thing as much love as you can possibly do. It won't evolve to the next stage unless it feels as if you'll accept it as a child. If not, it's likely to shrink back into the wand and remain in death forever.

Baby
(Ages 0-1)

What happened to their wand?

Their wand remains with them through their entire life. It's what will be able to direct their powers later on. It tends to grow as they do (amazingly enough). Their wand will be almost like a rattle to them in this stage, but as they grow, their wand will become more appropriate to their size.

So NOW It's active, RIGHT?!

*Sigh* Yes, finally, your child is a real child. Meaning it poops, it pees, it cries, it whines, it laughs, it grabs, it deprives you of sleep and your sanity. It's just like a normal baby.

Can it TALK yet?

Since a baby's reletive age is between newborn and 1 year old, I doubt it can talk. Unless you know something I don't, babies tend not to talk until they're nearing their 18 month old stage...then again, I could be wrong. Matty started talking quite early, but then...she was special.

How much of their powers do they have?

Well, it quite depends on the child. While they do not have full powers, sometimes, depending on the strength of the child, they may be able to have a basic concept of their magics. I.E. A moon baby may be able to make the lights go out.

Do they have ANY memories of their past?

No. Children are reborn as innocent as the day they were originally born. They have no memory of anything. This life is for making new memories, not dwelling on the old. They may have vague impressions, but nothing major.

Toddler
(Ages 1-4)

T.T Do they finally speak?

Toddler stage is basically the ages 1-4 to me. So yes, they can speak. Slowly. They're not born with knowledge of how to speak, walk or anything. They will learn like any other child does.

Can They WALK!?

Again, yes. They will learn to walk as if they were a normal, human child.

How have their powers progressed?

Not by much. They're pretty unstable at this time, and very hard, if not impossible, to control. Extreme emotion usually triggers power-plays. For example, if your child has the power of a storm, they can create tiny storms when angry, scared, whatever. As protection, or just an outlet for their emotions. If they -really- want something, and they have the power of telekinesis, they MAY be able to make something float to them.

How does what they are effect them?

Oh, their personality is really starting to show. And their element/creature has a big part on it. A selkie may have a deep love for water, a moon child may be intelligent and quiet, or moody. Faerie child may be sweet and mischievous...But their element isn't the only thing that effects them.

What do you mean?

Just as environment isn't the only thing that effects a child in real life, Element isn't the only thing that effects a child's life here. Their environment and how YOU raise them effects how they turn out. Their element just has a very small part in that. In fact, they could be nothing like their element! It really depends on how they are raised.

And how much love or neglect they receive.

Kid
(Ages 5-12)

How far have powers advanced here?

Again, not too far. They've developed, somewhat. I mean, they know they have them, and sometimes they can actually get them to do what they want, when they want it to...but they're still somewhat hard to control for MOST kids.

Some kids will just be prodigies. There is a balance, however. With Coailiann, she took longer to learn motor skills (Walking, talking, etc) because when she was younger she put all her energy into making her magic work.

How social would their lives be?

Hopefully social. You know, kids need socialization to grow properly. Friendships and even rivalries will enhance your son or daughter's childhood and is important.

However, I realize that not all children are Sociable, so if it's your child's personality, so be it. ^_^ Really, it depends on you and your little one.

Their element also will effect it, somewhat, since it effects their personality!

Would their features of their past lives be more prominent or fade with age?

This is an interesting question. Actually, the features of their past lives become prominent as they grow OLDER. Because as they grow older, they actually start to remember.

Do they go to school?

That's for you to decide. Ianna is a very busy person, but if she manages to find someone for when the children are old enough to teach magic to them (for those who's parents are unable to do so for some strange reason), then they may be able to attend that.

Otherwise, it's up to you if they attend a regular school or are home schooled.

Do they remember ANY of their past lives as children?

Sometimes. You see, as they're in their child stage (which I consider to be 5-12), they have dreams or flashbacks about their past. Their dreams or flashbacks can be good, or they can be bad. Sometimes, they can be very, very bad. Or very very good too.

They are quick, though, and usually are hard to remember. Most likely, the child will have a small headache and only remember bits and pieces of the flashback. They will not be able to figure out what it is, however. Their Kid Quest is likely the biggest well of information that they have.

Will the parents know about their past lives before they do?

No. Actually, you as a parent, will not know at all until they're teenager and choose to tell you. If they choose to tell you. You will know they had a past life, but you will not know what it was, or how they died unless they CHOOSE to let you in on it.

Teenager
(Ages 13-18 )
HOW do teenagers get their memories back?

This is probably the best question to ask. Memories do not suddenly come back i na rush. This would most likely leave your child...not so much a child anymore, insane. Insanity is really really not good.

What happens is pretty much the same for everyone, with a few minor differences depending on the actual person.

Generally, they'll get tired and then enter a comatose state. In this state, it's almost as if they're dead. So hopefully, they wont be around people at the time.

The only indication that it's going to happen is the fatigue.

Once in the comatose state, their mind is 'unlocked' and they're sucked into the past. They view their past life, from birth to death, as if they were watching a movie. After they watch their last breath and learn how they died, they will come face to face with their previous self.

They can ask three questions. What questions they ask are up to them, and it can be anything. But they can only ask three questions. These questions should help them move onto the next stage. Help them accept what happened.

Sometimes their former selves will give them something to take back to the present with them. It may be a selkie skin (in the case of the selkies), a necklace...something important to them in their past life. It can be living or inanimate, but it cannot be a person. Could be knowledge, as well, or a trait from their lives.

Once they've done all they need to do in the past, they will return back to the present and awaken from their state with the knowledge and the gift given, as a teenager. This does not happen AT teenage stage. It happens FOR their Teen!Quest

How does this effect their psyche and/or powers?

Learning how you died and lived and that you even HAD a past life can be a very scary thing. It can haunt a person. But if your son or daughter is strong enough, it may not have too many effects.

Some kids will be like..."Cool! I got a second life! Awesome!"

And others will be..."I...died....? How...Horrible" and break down.

Really it depends on the support system and how strong they are.

However! At least one good thing will come from their past lives. One of these being a growth in their powers. They will have more knowledge and more control over the abilities they had before.

Not only that, but they have new knowledge that they're special and were given another chance. That's gotta be a good thing, right?

They can have babies in this stage, right?

Well, like any normal teenager...Yes. BUT! We don't really condone it. Especially since at this stage, they usually don't know how it'll effect their lives if they want to become a sorceress/sorcerer or an ancient.

What happens if they DO have babies?

Some of their powers will be given to the child which will weaken them a bit. May not be much, but it may be just enough to hold them back from making it to sorceress, sorcerer or ancient stages.

It depends on the amount of magic the parents have to begin with and is based on a dice roll. So no, having a baby doesn't AUTOMATICALLY keep you from reaching Sorceress/Sorcerer. But it DOES Automatically keep you from reaching Ancient.

Youth
(Ages 19-22)

In the stages description, you said they could turn back into smoke. Explain?

Okay ^_^ Fair enough. A GoTP, once they have learned about their past, can become very very unstable. If they're unable to really accept the fact they have lived before and have another life...then maybe they shouldn't HAVE a 2nd chance.

At least, that's how the spell thinks. So if they can embrace their new chance, and the spell (which is LIKE a living thing in some aspects) can feel that, then they can continue on. Why does it happen so late in life? Because as a child, they deserve to be somewhat innocent, don't you think?

So, if they can't, they revert slowly back to smoke and then are sucked inside their wand again. No longer are they hovering in death, however, they have truly died.

It's up to them to decide if they want to continue or to give rest to their life in the past by giving them a true death.

And...that's a very tough decision. This is their quest to get to Youth, this does not happen AS a youth.

So...how do their powers grow?

If they embrace this chance, their powers grow significantly. How they're able to control it, or if they are, is really up to them. How they train and how they practice. They can choose to not do anything about them at all, and let them lay dormant forever. Or, they can embrace their gifts and make them flourish.

YAY QUESTION TIEM 8D

WAND:

How does the guardian obtain the wand? I heard they have to go and pick it up, but I never understood the whole process that was involved in it. Like, does the guardian feel pulled towards a particular wand, or are they just given any old wand, and if so who gives it to them?

How does the guardian know what kind of creature the kid in the wand was in the past life? Like, for example, how would Bantu know Kiba was a Ratkin in his past life? Would she know at all? Is it something that the guardian is told, and if so who tells them?

A question for any stage, but involving the wand: Does the child have to keep the wand with them 24/7? Or can they leave it in a safe place?

Okay! Better answer to be written when I write up the new thread, but...

Originally, it was Ianna that gave all the wands. I got too busy IRL to keep up with all the findings, and Noz volunteered to take over, thus introducing Cully to the mix.

But it still happens the same way.

Cully or Ianna gets the other to touch the Book of Life and Death - the one that holds all the information on the wands. The book opens to the page where the wand is, and the species as well as a message hand written from Matilda is on the page explaining rather vaguely what everything is about.

For the second question, no. They don't need to carry it with them at all times. They can keep it in a safe place.

OH OH, MY TURN!

Are there any consequences for losing a child's wand, once they've manifested? Do they have any dependence on it, or is it just a convenient focus for powers (in some instances, at least)?

The wand is something that each child is very attached to. Should it be lost, there could be issues that crop up depending on the child and how in-tune they are with things. It also depends on the awareness of the child. If the wand breaks, they die. They know this, inherently, that if something happens to it, they die (which is why it's best to keep it close) and not knowing where it is, and knowing they're nothing with out it, could spark some panic.

Outside of keeping the child alive, the wand works as a focus to power and one is unable to move past Adulthood without theirs.
