Just a quiet day, nothing special about it, nothing at all, absolutely nothing.

Xigbar snorted in irritation, he was bored. A bored sniper is never a good thing, especially when said sniper can also warp gravity as he sees fit. And when that sniper is being a grouch? Well let's just say it's not a good combination.

So Xigbar had done what he always did when he was bored, pick up his guns and use some poor unfortunate creatures for target practice. Fortunately there was no shortage of such creatures in the world that almost wasn't. Today it was the swarm of dusks that inhabited the lower levels of the castles, the depths where no one ever wandered. Bet those dusks thought they were safe down there, HAH! No such luck.

Several shots fired, the swarm scattered as those of their number fell, sent back to the darkness from which they came.

Hmph! Even this was boring today.

It was probably a good thing a certain other Nobody had decided that moving from his spot on the couch was simply too much work for the day. Otherwise the sniper would have been stuck with a whiny blonde who insisted that violence -wasn't- they key and maybe they should all just lounge around and play music all day.

As it was, he was currently up in The Grey Area, and Xigbar was left to his own devices.

He was not, however, alone. Another had materialized somewhere within the Nobody's sanctuary, one that kept to the shadows and seemed to be everywhere at once. And with it a voice whispered from all corners.
"Bored, are we?"

An ear twitched, the sniper paused, gun falling silent long enough for the dusks to flee a short distance, scrambling for a place to hide.

What the hell--

Xigbar's eyes narrowed, his ears perked, searching in the shadows for whatever, or whoever, may have spoken. Was someone playing a trick on him? Or was he only imagining it? He knew it wasn't the dusks, they couldn't speak.

"Who's there? Show yourself!"

A gun raised, where were they hiding?

"I'd rather not, besides...who are you to make demands of me?"
A laugh, a not so nice sounding laugh. If one had the capability of feelings it would bring a sense of unease with it. The uncomfortable calm before the storm.

"Can't hit what you can't see my sniper friend...so what is it that you do when your usual charge in tactic just doesn't work?"
The voice was a distraction, meant to cover up the interference slowly creeping into Xigbar's headphones. At the moment the noise seemed harmless. Annoying, but harmless.

A snarl twisted his maw, one yellow eye narrowed. Where the ******** hell was that coming from?!

"Coward!"

Xigbar nearly spit the word, echoing it with a growl. If he ever found out this was one of the org members trying to ******** with him...he would shoot them in the face, throw them off a cliff, and shoot them again!

"Why don't you come over here and find out!"

He fired into the darkness, bullet trails only illuminating the scattering dusks before disappearing. GRRRR!!! He was not in the mood for stupid games! And what the hell was that noise?

"Not a coward, you should feel honored to hear from me. It means you're special, if you'd like to think of it that way."

The noise grew, more and more until nearly drowned over the usual music poured from the headphones. The urge to throw them would be strong, anything to make the awful noise stop.

Meanwhile the bullets did nothing but scatter the dusks. The voice laughed, unconcerned with the deadly projectiles zipping all around.

"Prove it."

He spoke through gritted teeth, gaze searching, his ears twitching to catch the sound of any hint at all of where the stranger may be hiding (not that he could hear much over that god awful noise in his headphones!) ARRRGGG, what the hell?!

One gun fell to the ground with a loud clatter, paw to his ear, clawing as his headphones as if that would somehow stop the noise. He couldn't concentrate, couldn't hear anything but that NOISE! If someone had been sneaking up on him he'd have never heard it.

"Who the hell are you?!"

Was it that voice causing the noise? Was that even possible? He had never heard anything like it, and he sure as hell did not like it!

He couldn't stand it! The headphones were off, pulled from his ears with such force he might have seen stars (or more than he was already seeing form that damned noise!) and sent skidding across the floor.

Deep breath.

"Oh you'll see, in time."

As the headphones clattered to the ground the noise (as well as the color of Xigbar's fur) faded away. The owner of the voice was pleased. They all acted the same, it was easy...so easy.

The discarded headphones glowed briefly before returning to normal. There was seemingly no change to them, just the same ordinary headphones Xigbar had always had.

"As for who I am, let us just say that your pal Demyx knows of me. Anything beyond that is none of your concern."

The sniper growled, his gazed narrowed. Anything thought that this might have been someone he knew (a fellow nobody, Xemnas being an a*****e, whatever) was long gone. This was someone unlike anything he had ever encountered, someone dangerous, he didn't like it.

What the hell was going on? What had happened to his headphones? He couldn't lose those, they were part of him! But how was he going to get them back?

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

Demyx? How could innocent, naive little Demyx know -anyone- like this?
PostPosted: Thu Nov 19, 2009 7:47 am

"You can ask him about it later, it's not my place to explain how I know him."

The headphones clattered back into sight, almost as though the darkness itself repelled them. Any attempts at shooting the darkness from which they came would result in nothing more than a waste of bullets.

"You'll thank me, in time. You'll be able to rise to new heights."
It was cryptic, at best. And then it was gone. No goodbye, no sound of anything leaving. Just a silence that settled on the area.

His growl had changed, less anger, more serious. Just who the hell was he dealing with, and how the hell was he going to get out of this? And how--

Wait..what the--his headphones. He stood still for a moment. Did he take them while he had the chance, or was this a trap? Xigbar, the sniper, number 2 of organization 13 was afraid of nothing. But now, he was thoroughly spooked. He did not like this, at all.

"Somehow I doubt that."

But his words were spoken to darkness.

Silence, his ears twitched, searching, was he truly alone? Still not convinced it wasn't a trap, the sniper leaned over to hastily grab his headphones. He had had enough of this, boredom be damned, he was getting out of here.

Or so he thought.

It was probably a bad idea, putting his headphones back on without checking them first (not that he could have really known anything had changed if he had checked them).

He had barely taken two steps before it happened. Searing pain shot through his body, dropping him to his knees. He couldn't see, he couldn't stand, couldn't move, it was if he was being torn in two from the inside!

What the hell was happening to him?!

As a scream tore from his jaws, guns clattering to the floor once again as his arms wrapped around his head, a fleeting memory of something Demyx had said "something happened to my headphones and this happened". Was that what was happening to him now?

His thoughts blurred, there was nothing but pain, eyes closed tight, clenched jaws only opening long enough to release another scream, a scream so loud and agonized that even Demyx might have heard it from his perch on the couch.

This was it, the end, he was sure of it. Whether his back snapped first or his head exploded, he found himself wishing it would just kill him now and get it over with.

"AARRRRGGGGG!!!"

He was doubled over, nearly curled into a ball. Oh god, he was on fire, worse than fire, he felt as if something inside him was forcing its way out, determined to rip him to shreds as it did.

He was sure he could hear and feel his flesh tearing, too consumed, too blinded by the pain to see what was really happening, unaware of the wings that were suddenly sprouting from his back, the horns on his head, or even the second tail. All he knew was pain and all he wanted was for it to end. He would have cursed himself for coming down here in the first place were he able to think that clearly.

An eternity passed, or so it seemed. In truth he had no idea how much time had passed before it was over, before the pain that threatened to pull him apart finally began to fade, his breath returning in heavy pants, the stars at last fading from his vision.

Was he dead?

No, he couldn't be, he was still here, somehow still alive. But he was different, he had changed.

It's not my time
I won't go

What?

There's a fear in me
It's not showing

Several deep breaths later he realized it was his headphones. The song he had heard as long as he could remember was gone, replaced by something else.

This could be the end of me
And everything I know.

But that was not all that had changed, Xigbar himself was no longer what he had been. He saw it from the corner of his eye as he stood to his feet.

Wings? He had wings?

A paw went to his head, horns? A twitch of his tail, what the--two tails?

What the ******** hell had happened to him?!

Whatever had happened, he wasn't staying around long enough to find out. Pausing only long enough to gather his guns, Xigbar did what he had never done before, he fled. He was getting OUT OF THERE!

And when he found Demyx, oh they were going to have a talk about this!
