Has anyone tried using Pure Black Soap for acne or other skin issues? I ordered some Dr. Woods Pure Black Soap from Vitacost but it hasn't arrived yet and I'd like to hear other peoples' experiences with it.

This is not the foul smelling pine tar soap which is also black. It is made from plantain skins and supposedly smells "earthy". I will definitely report on it here once I get mine and try it out.

Well I got it and used the whole bottle on my face and body. For the bod, I didn't notice a huge difference between the black soap and Dr. Bronner's. (I like the peppermint and almond scents of those.)

For the face, it was pretty nice. No major breakouts to report. Supposedly it helps with fine lines and wrinkles too, but it's a bit drying so I had to use a moisturizer afterward. I'm not sure about lines because I don't have any major ones yet.

The smell is pleasant and clean. I read it was earthy but it didn't smell very earthy to me. It was also really effective as a shave gel. It didn't irritate my skin as much as Bronner's, which didn't really irritate either. It's just that sometimes if I go over and over an area it will sting a bit, and with black soap it didn't do that.

All in all I recommend trying it out. It can't really hurt anything and you might just love it.
