It was the first week since Klahan's return to his birth pride and he was feeling better than ever. His shoulder wound still pained him if he strained his left leg too much, but overall he was in good shape. As such he had taken up patrolling duty for this morning. As he threaded along the border at a leisurely pace, he remembered the last time he had walked this path. Back then he was still in training and his mentor had been with him. It would have felt strange to e on his own if it hadn't been for the fact that he had spent several months in the rogue lands while recovering from his wounds.
Klahan turned to his right sharply as a rustle of the grass reached his ears. Tough he seemed lost in thought, he was very aware of his surroundings. His senses were sharpened by living on his own and nothing escaped his notice. As a scared rabbit suddenly left his cover and dashed in the opposite direction, Han turned away and continued forward. It seemed like today would be a rather uneventful one.

Now that she was home again, away from that strange swamp land, she found she missed Zimwi. He was one of her closest friends; someone she'd almost grown up with! Safura found that these days she was often alone--not counting her ever elusive brother Agen'theluji--and, since she knew she ought to be used to it, Safura was very lonely. She wanted a companion; a friend, a mate, it didn't matter. Just someone to stay by her side. She missed her family--both her brothers Korou and Agen. Sighing to herself, she glanced around the barren area she was in. Her ears twitched as a rabbit suddenly fled into her sight and then took off again.
A rabbit?
Scared, on top of that. That meant there was another predator nearby... perhaps another lion? In any case, a rabbit meant she was near a grassy area... but still, these lands were the rogue lands. They were barren unless one grew up in them and knew how to hunt for food. Safura had grown up eating well--especially since she'd grown up with a cheetah family that had adopted her as a cub. It made her heart ache to think about them again; she missed them dearly, especially Korou. She sighed again. All this thinking was part of what was making her lonely--she knew this. Yet, she couldn't help herself.
Ah, she needed a friend, or a mate. Or something. She chuckled as she continued her wandering.

Klahan stopped again and inhaled deeply several times. There was someone else here, the feeling in his gut told him so and he trusted his instincts. The scent in the air was faint, he wasn't sure if he really was smelling something (or someone) or if he was just paranoid. Either way, the large male followed the weak smell and his eyes narrowed as it got stronger. A female...yes, definitely female. But he didn't know this scent so he proceeded forward cautiously. He saw the gray form of a lioness, she hadn't noticed him yet.
"Hold there!" He called at her. "Who are you and what is your business here?" His tone was firm, but not angry or threatening. The female was making no effort to pass unnoticed. For all he knew she didn't know she was trespassing and he saw no point in intimidating her. Unless she attacked him or provoked him in some other way Klahan wouldn't treat her harshly.

She froze as a strong male voice carried across to her, and she turned to see who it was that called out. She knew it had to be her, because there weren't any other lions--or lionesses--around, not to mention that prey would run off at that order. Yes, order, she concluded. Her eyes turned to find a lion that, for a split second, she swore was her brother, Agen'theluji. Huh!?? She thought to herself. Maybe it was Agen, and he was just playing a trick on her? ...No, now that she looked closely, it definitely wasn't her lazy older brother. He wasn't that scarred up--from what she remembered--and he most certainly didn't have blue eyes. Well, he did, but they were far paler. Well, closer to gray, actually...
His next words caught her slightly off guard, but she answered rather quickly; he seemed like he would hurt her or something if she didn't do what he said... this guy was scary. Maybe he was a Firekin in disguise!? ...Oh boy... "Ah, eh, um. I'm so sorry if I interrupted anything you were doing, but uh, my name is Safura'miezi, and, well, my business? I live here in these lands, and I was just... wandering around..." she trailed off, feeling nervous. Was he going to attack her? He looked really tough, and while she was pretty strong herself, she wasn't one to fight. The only fights she got in was when she was hunting for food. "...Eh... May I ask who you are...?" she ventured to say, thinking if she was nice, maybe he wouldn't be so, well, strict... sounding.

Klahan raised an eyebrow as recognition flashed in the lioness' eyes for an instant. He concluded she probably confused him for someone since he had certainly never met her. She also seemed scared of him which in turn made him feel uncomfortable. He didn't like scaring others for no reason and she didn't seem to be a threat. But his size was kind of intimidating, even if he was a gentle giant on the inside.
His eyes softened at her reply and he relaxed slightly. She wasn't lying, he was certain of it. "You're not interrupting anything, Safura'miezi. You have wandered into the borderlands of my pride and it is my duty to protect them." He explained in a more casual tone, abandoning his warrior facade. "I apologise for scaring you like that. I am Klahan, Asikari of the Mzawa'kondo." He introduced himself with a friendly smile.

"Ah... I did, did I?" she floundered for a minute, pondering what had brought her so close to the borderlands of a pride she'd never heard of before. Had she been in the swamp lands so long she lost her sense of direction? She ought to visit the Pridelands again at some point, and maybe go wandering over to the Mistweavers... perhaps Zimwi was still around, but she was uncomfortable with the idea of heading back into the swamp lands again to visit her old friend. "I'm sorry, I didn't know these were the borderlands of your pride; um, you see, I'm a wanderer... I just tend to go wherever my paws take me. I suppose I shouldn't do that," she gave an embarrassed chuckle, but quickly warmed up to Klahan, happy to know she might have made a new friend (even if he'd appeared frightening at first).
"I do admit, you did startle me," she looked down, a light blush gracing her face before she returned to her normal fur color. "Actually, I should correct myself: I'm not a wanderer, moreso a traveler. Do you like visiting new places, Klahan? I've been to many places, and this is the first time I've encountered a new land with a new pride... Unfortunately, I've never heard of the Mzwaqa'kondo," she commented, figuring if she made conversation it would ease the tension was slowly disappearing. She could tell he was starting to relax, and it was helping her to relax too. It helped that he reminded her of her brother, though he was a completely different individual. Thinking of her brother made her wonder what it would be like if Agen'theluji and Klahan would ever meet... Agen would think he was looking at himself. She stifled a giggle, though a smile still made its way to her face... she turned that smile at Klahan as she waited for his answer.

((I misspelled the pride's name XD))
Klahan knew he was supposed to direct the lioness away from the lands and continue with his rounds, but the weeks he'd spent traveling back to the pride had left their mark on him. He had met so many creatures and all of them so diverse that he couldn't resist the temptation to stay and talk with the female. She was new and interesting. He didn't think that spending a few minuets with her would do any harm. "Yes, but then you wouldn't go anywhere." He gave a small smile.
"I shouldn't have. I apologise." He felt a little embarrassed about his overreacting the way he had. He was a bit on edge since it was his first time doing rounds by himself. "I have done my fair share of traveling." Well that wasn't entirely true, it had been just a few months but to him it felt like years had passed. "But I prefer staying with my pride. I'm not surprised you haven't heard of us, we are a small pride. We are warriors most of all, tough we prefer peace to war." It was a strange contradiction, but it was true.

((*Just a note: I recently joined a "plot" (Kiingereza'nchi Pride plot in the Plot forum) pride in the making for Safura, since she's not settled down anywhere just yet. We can continue RPing the two of them if you want, later, if things keep working out. :3))
Warriors? Peace? Well, that was definitely an interesting detail... she noted that and put it to the back of her mind. She could use that later for a good story, probably. But first, details, details. She always did love a good story--getting to know someone new meant new stories, not to mention a new friend. Warriors who fought for peace! Now that was pure delight! "Well, you're right, I wouldn't be going anywhere if that was the case; life would be kinda boring otherwise," she chuckled.
"Well," she began, eyeing the silver lion up and down. Now that she was able to look more closely at him, she decided he was nothing like her brother. Her brother was a strange one, anyway. "Well," she said again, "the reason you surprised me was more because you looked so much like my older brother. My, ah, twin, of sorts. He looks almost exactly the same as you... save for the different scars, and the eyes, and demeanor... the physical shock was just startling, is all..." Hm, weave a tale together about twins... triplets? Nah, Safura wasn't born with a triplet--she only had Agen, and often times the two of them were teased about being "twins"...
No matter. "Ah, a small pride... hm. Well, that's ok--I'm sure your pride will get bigger eventually! After all, warriors you may be, but you fellows would still need lionesses and cubs and such to protect if you're warriors of peace," she surmised.
