VH1 yes Vh1 roc doc's bling'd: blood, diamonds, and Hip Hop. This is the best thing Vh1 has ever shown on Tv. They take two or three rappers and show them where their bling really comes from and how many people have to suffer for them to get their bling that they rap about and show off, and what they support unknowingly.

according to the Vh1 website they have 109 episodes. I only watched 1 episode and I thought it was wonderful and perfect Idea. I've been waiting for someone to do this for a while. It's a solution that should defiently be acknowledged and hopefully alot ofthese mainstream people andothers watch and become aware of what they arereally doing.

I seen it a while ago. As I believe this doc came out before Blood Diamond with Leo and sexy Djimon! (whew that man is fine)

*ahem*

I read part of Will. Rhoden's: forty million dollar slaves: The rise, fall and redemption of Black athletes. Basically saying that just like rappers, Black Athletes own basically nothing but they themselves are owned. As well as they get lost in all the fame, women, "bling" and other nonsense that they forget themselves and where they came from. Sure, every now and then a rapper or an athlete goes back to their "hood" and build a park or something like that. However, it doesn't curb the crime rates, help Black students do better in school, or anything like that.

It's the same bull that's been happening for years. The whole conquer and divide. Africans are our lost selves and we Black-Americans need to fully understand that and the Africans (especially western ones) need to as well. Doesn't matter how long it been. We are still connected as all humans are connected anyway.

To get back to this doc: it's the same deal. People just don't know and at time DO NOT want to know. We get feed this image and we just accept it without no future discussion or question. As personally I don't see the real appeal to blind I never, ever understood it. Same with the puffy shoes, gold teeth, and sagging pants.

All images that we should all question and re-think within the coming decades. As it's not just the urban communities getting affected by this it's really a globally issue here. As who do you think make the shoes? The clothes?

So yeah the simple solution to things like this is having a long hard discussion first and foremost, then make some hard decisions. Is any of it really worth it? Why can't rappers rap in sweats? What's the reason for the bling? However, no one really wants to do much about it since our world is heavily based in capitalism.

Profits before the people.

3nodding Yes djimon is sexy

But your right. You have the few who dont show off. Rappers such as talib kweli and Mos def that still rap about this awareness. But the others who have this need to show off bling clothes etc. even rapper souljah boy had some nerve to say "I am glad the slave masters took us out of Africa. Because then we would have no bling". Not knowing we're it all came from. It is a global issue that hopefully this show can be a stepping stone to them who do not wish to see. Because they need to see this.

I remember chris Rock saying the same thing. About blacks being rich but not wealthy. Basically not really owning anything of their own. But I have to read forty million dollar slaves.

Showing off great amount was a big thing at my schools. They would brag about the chains, grills, and everything and when I told them how it was all made. They would get angry with me. But even if the world does not wish to see. We have to make it clear to them one way or another.

It horrible when people dont question things and ridicule the people who do question these things. Or when it's revealed to them they have a moment of emotion and feel that they donate one thing and go back to portraying the image that causes others to suffer and makes them suffer.

Well as Barnum said "there's a sucker born every minute". Harsh but I think thats how most of these main stream artist feel. Sinceit's not them suffering.

But at least the show is part of a solution and hopefully not a passing trend.

As far back as Redd Fox said as much too which was one of the reasons why he didn't pay his taxes. Yeah this fiscal issues we Black folks have is one of the biggest flaws we have. Which is why we get all those bad credit or being fiscally retarded labels slapped on us. Most of us (more so than any other group) spend more than we make, buy stuff we don't need, and just have no real concept of money.

Which is why I have one credit card that I don't use.
