Mareike slid the battery pack for the cordless phone, which had been' borrowed' by Taylor, back into place just in time for the buttons on it to light up as it rung. Shaking her head she hit the reply button with her thumb and brought the phone up to her left ear " hello?"

" I'm okay mostly, haven't heard from you in a while." Probably her own a fault really, the thistle haired girl was learning she couldn't always leave communication up to the other person. " is everything okay?"

Mareike blinked " hell you've caught up to me already?" Wasn't sure if that was becuase Ebby was maturing quicker or if she'd somehow hit a plateau." what's it like over at your house, don;t you have a lot of siblings or something?" Mareike approved of family, hell she considered most facility kids kin to some degree or another, still she wasn't sure she wanted to be surrounded by tons of people at the moment.

"Now i think you just called becuase you were lonely" Mareike teased " gimme the address and I'll have nickle drive me over" she still didn't have a license of her own, lessons proving her wrath aspect equaled road rage rather easily and she seriously lacked the patience to learn to communicate with the car.

Were Ebby anyone else Mareike probbaly would have shaken her off and glared at the girl for the abrupt greeting. despite being fond of lust spawn and Ebby in general Mareike was still not one to take an affectionate assault lightly. It was perhaps only Ebony and Pepper who got away with such things. " I've been okay, off and on, just sort of living life." The older the spawn got the more she realized how little she;d accomplished in life and how much she didn't really know what she was doing at times. however now was not time for contemplations like that. now was time for fun with friends.

" Nope, too expensive" they certainly weren;t a poor family by any means but mareike had seen the prices for simple things like manicures and pedicures and balked. She could never ask nickle for that kind of money for something so vain when she could file her nails herself and while she might crave the odd massage these days she wasn't paying her own money to to let a stranger put their hands on her.

Mareike just sort of stared at Ebony for a moment, uncertain quite how to respond. While she wasn't adverse to being feminine she'd never been girly. Despite Nickle's best attempts to civilize and turn her into a lady it hadn't worked. Of course most of those attempts had been when she was younger, when her hair was tied back or kept up to keep her from ripping it out when it got in her way.

As a young child with little impulse control Mareike had rebelled against practically everything and fought to do things her own way. As she'd aged the wrath spawn realized how much it had affected her, when she was under socialized and behind in schoolwork compared to those her age having missed crucial pre-school and kindergarten years. While she physically excelled and has always had a strong sense of self Mareike had been and still was playing catchup in many ways due to her unstructured upbringing.

Perhaps some of the problems she had with men, and accepting them as they were were due to her not understanding herself as a female outside of knowing what it was she wanted. the feathers of her wings ruffled a little as she thought about that, that perhaps Adriel was more right than he knew, that she held more blame than she cared to admit becuase she was utterly inflexible at times.

Though the young woman doubted one spa session would change her or her outlook Mareike supposed it might be a start.

"Okay," she shot Ebony a fanged smile. "But you're not putting cucumbers on my eyes or spreading oatmeal on my face or anything." She didn't care what it did for skin or laugh lines Mareike drew the line at using food to make herself look pretty.
