Zac sat down at the outdoor table with his tray of food, a paper dish of frenchfries as a sort of weekend treat, ketchup, and a cup of cold tea and waited for Dem to sit down too. There really was not getting away from him some days. Though honestly he hadn't put up a fight about it. In some respects he supposed he'd grown accustomed to the strange company.
And even if he hadn't let the other young man come they would, he suspected have run into each other here. After all this was one of those little shops that had, just a little bit of everything done just well enough to be good, and just bad enough for you to be -wonderful-.
The day was sunny, the last remnants of warmer weather bidding their fair-wells, soon enough it would be too cold to sit outside, but for today at least it was just wonderful, if a trifle windy.
"I've got straws and napkins Dem" he called so they wouldn't end up with extras and took a long drink of his tea while the fries cooled, fresh still and steaming.

"Alright Z!" Demy wandered over, plopping down unceremoniously with his own food and a bunch of ketchup. The blonde liked his fries smothered in the stuff.
True, there really -was- no getting away from him. When Demy decided you needed company, you were going to get it. Unfortunately for Z he was usually on the receiving end of this. But hey, at least he wouldn't be lonely! ...Ever!
"Glad you decided to come with me man, this'll be a great dat---day. Ahem." Yes, -day-. He totally meant to say day.

The heavenly scent of mustard, melted cheddar and deep fried potato filled Alairi's nose as she picked up her order and scanned the tables outside for an empty seat. Freeing a hand to toss her rainbow streaked ponytail over her shoulder, the girl's eyes narrowed as she saw the only available seat was near a couple of Hillworth boys. Not that she had a problem with Hillworth boys, she just never really knew how to act around them. Still, given that neither looked too tall or imposing, she felt assured of her own well being.
Carring her tray to the table, she quickly slid into a seat, half turned away from the boys, watching and listening to them with amusement.

Zac choked on his tea and -stared- at Dem with that wide eyed 'I heard what you almost said stare, wild eyed and... blushing again. He cleared his throat and pretended as hard as he could it didn't happen. "I didn't decide to go -with- you I wanted french fries...." he said and grabbed one like a small deep-fried defensive weapon and stabbed it into his own little cup of ketchup.
"How goes the guitar lessons?" He said and then bit into the fry, shortly after fanning his mouth as it sizzled his tongue.

Demy eyed Z to be sure the choking wasn't something -dangerous-, but otherwise seemed unconcerned. Yeah, he knew what he almost said, but he simply wasn't ashamed of it. Besides...Z was pretty cute when he was blushing. "Yes, but you came here -with- me, you're sitting with me, annnd you even nabbed me some napkins and a straw." He nabbed these as he pointed them out. "I call that going with me, don't you?"
He unwrapped his burger, casting a glance at the newcomer to their table. Iiiiinteresting...usually people didn't just randomly sit with them when they were out (he suspected it was due to the whole Hillworth thing). Well, he wasn't going to complain. "Hey there!" The introduction would have been longer if Z hadn't suddenly distracted him with the all important question. "Been reading some books man, haven't got a lesson schedule yet but soon!" Hey, Z should be proud! Those books were checked out from -the library-. Demy went there all by himself, picked out the books, and was even -reading them-. AMAZING!

"Napkins and a straw, oh well... now we're committed for life..." He said sarcastically. "That's some serious bonds right there..." He arched an eyebrow glancing over at the new comer. ... rainbow, streaks in her hair. Dear god, it was Demy the girl. Was she listening to them?

In point of fact, Alairi was listening. But not intentionally. It was rather difficult, after all, to avoid hearing conversation when one was seated right by the ones having the conversation. And she was, to put it mildly, trying with might and main to not choke to death on a tater tot as she nearly shook with supressed laughter. The two boys sounded almost like an old married couple.
She took a couple of swigs of her lemonade and then took a deep breath. Just in time for the taller of the two to notice her and say hi. Schooling her face into an expression of polite interest, she smiled and waved back.
"Hey there yourself."

"Man we were already bonded for life, the napkins and straw just strengthen the bond. Duh."
That point settled, Demy turned his gaze back to the newcomer. That was when he realized -holy s**t- she had rainbow streaked hair. This, of course, had to be commented on, which simply came out sounding like... "HOLY s**t you have RAINBOW HAIR! That's so damn cool. Can I touch it?" Yeeeep. No brain to mouth filter, and no concept of personal space. That was Demy all right.

Zac buried his face in his hands and shook his head in utter disbelief. God... could he touch her hair... what the hell... seriously. "Dem..." he started to say warningly. He contemplated if it would be better to -warn- him again that most people had personal space issues, or if it would be better just to see what she -did-.

"I dunno. Are your hands clean?" Alairi asked, looking as solemn as a Quaker. "I just got it washed and re-dyed this morning and I would hate to have fast food grease in it."
She adjusted her head slightly so she could look at the seated boy and quickly winked at him before turning her attention back to the one named 'Dem'. He seemed harmless enough if a bit hyperactive. His friend, however, had the look of a martyr.
"However, I will tell you now that if you touch more than my hair, I will break both your arms and knot them behind your back," she continued in a perfectly reasonable voice.

Well -that- got a flash of a glare from the 'martyr'. Something protective almost that vanished like a glimpse of a koi in a dark pond. He didn't -say- anything to it but it was there, a return threat that lingered bitten back (for once) behind suddenly clenched teeth.
When he did finally speak it was tight. "Physical threats, short lived and impotent unless you plan to beat someone to death with a -spoon-, first resort of small minds... Trust me, He's more interested in the rainbow Connan."

"Haven't touched my food yet, see?" Grinning innocently the blonde lifted his hands for a quick inspection. "No grease, promise!"
Quick as he had lifted his hand, Demy switched seats so he could be next to Alairi. The threads of physical violence didn't seem to phase him. In fact his attention was focused solely on the rainbow streaks of WIN in the hair of this girl. "Oooo...." As Z 'defended' him, Demy was lifting his hand to pet at the colored streaks. "Neat man! Z this is so cool. It's...it's RAINBOW man!"

If the other boy's words bothered Alairi, the only indication of this fact was the momentary darkening of her expression before sunny affability regained control. Really, it was a pity that there were so many people about. Taking the runt's starseed would have felt immensely satisfying. Taking another sip of lemonade whilst Dem cooed over her hair, she stayed silent for a moment longer before replying to the other boy's insult in a voice laden with daggers of ice.
"Take my word for it, darling, I could break every bone in your body if I chose. And I wouldn't need to resort to a mere spoon to get the job done."
She took another sip of lemonade.
"And really... Conan? Is that the best your small mind can come up with?"

Zac laughed into his drink... "Mmm...I'm shaking" He said and took a long sip. "Congratulations... Rainbow, how -amazing- probably the brightest bit too, Did you -utterly- miss the implications of what I said regarding physical violence?" He arched an eyebrow. His voice was cool and even.... -satisfied- even.
"Small mind..." he laughed again

"Hey now!" Demy had stopped playing with the other's hair, and had somehow armed himself with....a spork? "Noooo breaky break the bones of my buddy Z! Then I'd have to take care of him, and while I think that'd be fun I'm pretty sure he wouldn't like it..." He frowned, waving the spoon at Alairi.
