Ahh the mortal world, so much different then the haven of Gods, neither better nor worse at times. He reveled in the sensation of the sun and wind, the taste of food and water, and the noises that one heard if one only stopped to listen. Today however was not simply for listening, he had a purpose. In his veins he could feel a mortal nearby, but a special mortal, the blood of royalty called to him, bade him find and meet this mortal.
His blue eyes scanned the area curiously, he hadn't bothered with an illusion today, and felt better for it, far more energized. There was something exciting in knowing that he might once again reconnect with a family, and have purpose once more.
Purpose, the word made his memory slowly drift back as if attempting to remind him of something. Before he could manage however to grasp hold of something so distant he noticed a figure ahead.

"You know, we shouldn't have wandered away from Fara- he will be displeased to know you're not nearby when he wakes up from his nap." Ushimbu told the completely purple lion as they moved over the rogue lands. Bwana only grunted, coming to a stop so he could look down at the little animal. Tilting his head to one side, he huffed in annoyance.
"Who's the king here?" he demanded, "Fara doesn't control what I do. If I'm going to be in charge, I have to make decisions on my own... right?" Boy, he was going to suck as a king, he just knew it. He didn't know the first thing about being a leader.
He liked to party.
Looking away from his servant, he spotted a lion in the distance. At least... he thought it was a lion. There was something strange about him. VERY different.

His eyes narrowed and he frowned slightly, his powers were weak from lack of use, he used to be able to identify royalty with the ease of regular sight. Now he strained to figure out of the large purple male ahead was the one he sought. His wings folded against his sides and he moved closer, perhaps being in closer proximity would be of some help.
Yes, yes, the closer he got the more certain he was, this lion had royal blood. His eyes briefly drifted to the genet before he dismissed it, no it was not royal, the lion was. Thank goodness he could still manage that at least, he would be at quite a loss if he couldn't even pinpoint his own.
A smile slowly spread across his features softening them considerably, he could be as cruel or as kind as any ruler, but preferred a more laid back approach dealing with mortals. Unless of course they were failing to do that most important of duties in keeping the royal lines alive and active, then he became quite a force to be reckoned with. Yes royal families were what Anupu loved best, and restoring royalty to their rightful places or protecting those royals who had no place to go had been what he had done best, and intended to again.

Bwana couldn’t decide what to make of the other lion, his head tilted from one side to the other. Man, he must have had some of those berries he used to enjoy so much and just hadn’t realized it… he thought he had gotten off the stuff. But this had to be a hallucination.
He couldn’t be looking at a God.
“WHOA!!” Yelped the genet at his feet, “check him out! He looks totally awesome! Do you think he’s going to kill you? Man! I knew we shouldn’t have left Fara. This is all-“ he didn’t get to finish, a paw coming down over his head, smushing it harmlessly into the dirt. As he flailed underneath the purple paw, Bwana offered a smile to the other lion.
“Forgive my servant,” he said, “he knows not when to shut up. My name is Bwana, king of the Suka’Fumo. Well, soon to be king, anyway, on the hopes that I still have a pride waiting for me.” He offered a respectful bow of his head, not wanting to seem disrespectful. His time away hadn’t been long enough to make him forget his manners.

Anupu barely raised a dark brow at the genet and slowly smiled at Bwana, it was strangely like seeing an old friend. He knew this was a royal, and he knew he could help, advise, and make a bond. Thinking ahead he almost hesitated, for those mortal would pass as would his children and their children...but loss was something all faced mortal or divine, royal or peasant. He would not allow himself to retreat like a coward in the face of loss again.
"Bwana...you were born to be king and pride or not you always shall be king. I am Anupu, God of Royalty. It would be my duty to see your back where you belong and an honor to be your friend if you would allow. Your lack of faith in yourself is most troubling..." He added softly and looked the male over assessingly.

"God..." Bwana had been raised to believe in Gods, of course, it would be foolish not to think they were out there somewhere, watching over things and making sure lions didn't screw up. Or, in some cases, making sure that's exactly what lions did. Still, it was very strange to actually see a God standing in front of him looking so... God-like.
It made him proud, in a way, to be in front of a God of Royalty. Like it had been destiny or something.
He sighed softly, eyeing the floor. "I don't mean to trouble you with my problems," he said, "I just... I left my pride when things got rough and I'm not sure realizing my mistake now will be enough, you know? What if they gave up on me? Or they think I'll be just like my father? I don't want to be considered evil... or not meant for my title."

"No, no, no...it's no trouble." He sat down and tipped his head listening as the other male spoke. He felt for him, really he was young and untried with no good example set before him about to face something completely unknown. It was quite the responsibility but he was going to try and put it in the best light possible. After all surely Bwana knew what challenges faced him, what he needed was help and reassurance in how to face them.
"You know...maybe you should stop thinking of it as a mistake. Getting away from the influence of your father might have been a good choice. Returning now to try and fix things an even better one. You must show your pride by example that you are not your father, that you have a right to call yourself King. No one can take away whats in your blood, only you can rule, no one else was meant for your title, your position, banish the thought from your mind." He gave a firm nod, the last thing he wanted was for a royal to forget what it was to be royal, the blood of generations ruling, as they should.

Bwana let his nose scrunch a little as he considered what the God was telling him, trying to make sure he paid as much attention as possible. This guy, it seemed, knew exactly what he was talking about. Still, how was it anything but a mistake? Even if he had escaped his father’s attempt to mold him into something of a clone, he had still run away. Plus, the life he had led hadn’t exactly been a model life for a king-to-be. Partying, flinging himself at ladies, looking for the next great adventure. All he had done when he should have been preparing to take over the crown was goofing off.
It seemed like a lot of wasted time now.
He was right about one thing, though: He was a king. That would never change, no matter what the others thought of him or what they said about him upon his return. He would always be of royal blood, just like he had been even before realizing the errors of his ways.
“Yes, I see. I know I should. But it’ll be a lot of work to get them to see me for the king I am, I’m sure of it. Still, I suppose the only way I’ll really know how they’re going to react is for me to get to them and prove myself, right? Do you think those of royal blood can lead, even without proper training?”

"You are not simple, you are not deranged, nor a babe, you can learn everything you need. The right to rule is already yours, the knowledge can be gained if you are willing to work for it. If you are willing I will make sure to be there for you when you require my advice or assistance in any matter."
Hopefully Bwana had his fill of the wild life, youth was inclined to such things, maybe he was ready to settle and learn and rule. Hopefully...if anything at least he seemed to be good-hearted and that often went a long way. The common people preferred a king of kindness, but he wondered if others wouldn't think him soft and stupid. Well stupid he wasn't, just unsure, and it was his job to offer him all the confidence he needed.
"Well what do you say?"

“I would deeply appreciate that, m’lord,” replied Bwana with a short but respectful bow of his head towards the larger lion, deeply humbled to be in the presence of such a kind and understanding God. His first time meeting one and he wasn’t in any kind of trouble. Scholars, his teachers, used to tell him about how cruel Gods were. How they didn’t care about lions and only liked to tease them or have babies with them to spread their seed around.
He was glad they were wrong about Gods, as he felt grateful for the boost in confidence he had received from this one.
“I will do my best to honor you and show my appreciation every day. And I will do my best to be a kind, strong king that my subjects will be able to depend on. I will show them that I am not like my father. The apple has fallen quite far from the tree.”

"Then I shall make myself available to you at anytime should you need. Now then I suggest you continue on your path, and remember it is YOU who is King. Accept the words of others with grace, but always do what is right in your heart, for you are the one who will pay the price of those actions." Anupu smiled and turned away.
He might have walked with Bwana back to the others, but they were normal mortals not the royals he sought out. Instead he put his lessons to good use and leapt upwards teleporting away or to the mortal eye vanishing into the sky, back to the Haven of the Gods to watch over his new charge. Ah it felt so good to once again be connected to the mortal world, to have a purpose. He had a good feeling about Bwana as well...but only time would tell
