Risa had recieved a strange letter in the mail, not unlike the one that had summoned her to the Durem Caves. She was instantly interested, and decided to go, whatever her fiance said. Knowing Matthias, he would probably have advised her not to go, with good reason. The last time she'd been summoned for anything... Well. It hadn't turned out so well.
She took the letter out looked at it again. Mystic Mixers Labratories? She'd never even heard of it. Could she trust the people there? It was against her very nature to mistrust anyone; yes, she would go. She read the address at the bottom of the page twice, to make sure she wouldn't get lost. She made her way there in her old toyota; to her surprise, the building was rather simple to find. But what did she do next?

Luckily for her, a small woman with poofy brown hair, large black glasses and a lab coat was just walking into the building, carrying three thick bags of groceries. The bags towered over her a bit but she was well balanced and rather confident. Hey, maybe she knew what Risa should do?

Risa reasonably decided to follow her, though the woman seemed too busy to talk, carrying those three bags. She would have offered to help, but the woman was too quick for her. After following the woman inside, she decided to speak up, "Hello? I recieved a letter the other day, telling me to come here. Do you know where I should be? Or who I'm supposed to be meeting up with? Or why I was summoned, for that matter?" She didn't mean to be rude and bombard the woman with questions, but...
Risa did not like the feeling this labratory gave her. It was like being in that hospital again, the horrid place.

"Yepyep. I'll help you in a second miss. I just gotta put these in my office." the brunette called over her shoulder, heading into a little room to put down the bags.
Turning around, she smiled bright. "Now, what's your name Miss?" Apoxi asked, a warm smile on her freckled face. She was a nice woman, a bit silly and dorky but nice. "I've got a list of people Kayen sent letters to so I'll know what you were sent one about."

"Oh, I'm Arisa Alfar," Risa said, blinking for a moment. Well, this didn't seem so bad! At least the woman was friendly. "Can you tell me what all of this is about? Because if my fiance hears that I've answered another letter... well. I don't like to think of what he might do. Last time..." She realized she was babbling and blushed. "I'm sorry, being in labratories always makes me nervous."
It would have been more honest to say that being anywhere without her fiance made her nervous, but she wasn't about to admit that.

Apoxi shrugged. "S'no biggie. Anyway, you're here because apparently you were selected to be guardian to one of the children born here. They are bred in the lab as part of our research on the affects of certain genetics when bred together, but they're pretty normal children so far. A few odd features aside. We felt it'd be better to have them raised in normal homes with families instead of stuck in a lab for forever."

Risa was hooked. Her brown eyes lost the nervous twitch, and a smile crossed her face. "A child? Of course! I would gladly give one a loving home!" There was one thing Risa was good at, and that was being a mother. Even to those who weren't exactly hers. Meaning she adopted basically every child on the block.
"Can I meet them? Or is there one you'd like me to see?" She inwardly thought of how Matthias was going to take this, and realized... she really didn't care. She wanted to help whatever child needed a home. Anyway, she was sure if she and Matth fought, she would win. He'd never caused her grief before.

THe brunette smiled. "Oh no, you get to pick. Though, if you particularly like children, I don't suggest talking with any till you're sure. I don't want any getting accidentally promised something and then not receiving it. We may be researching these little ones but they're still kids and we don't want them to end up unhappy by accidental promises."
"Would you prefer to see a girl or a boy? You're a fairy right?" the second question was asked after a glance down to the paper had made her realize something.

Risa had to think about it. "I think a girl would be best," she said. "Our household's currently overrun by men." She paused, and looked up to Apoxi. "I prefer the term fae, but yes," she said politely. "Seelie court, don't worry. I'm not the kind that bites."
The fae was attempting to joke, she'd visibly relaxed. "Why, though? Do you have any children that have fae blood?" Surely Matthias wouldn't object to that, would he? She brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, absentmindedly revealing one pointed ear.

Apoxi gave a halfhearted laugh at the attempted joke - or at least, she thought it was a joke? The courts had been a little more lax in her own time so she didn't quite know much about biting fae.
"Yes actually. There are two different varieties of faekin in residence here who were kindly donors for humanoid dna. There are a few girls with the DNA if you'd like to meet them. Or if you'd like to pop in and say hi to either of the donors, that is also allowed."

"Hm..." was Risa's first response. "I would like to meet the girls first, if that's alright? Maybe after, I can meet the donors? I'm sure they would be fascinating to speak with." She paused, and smiled at Apoxi. "I wonder, though. Which branch are your fairies from?" She would have preferred not to meet any unseelie; despite the fact that she was engaged to one. They tended to be moody, and often less than nice.
"Do the children have names?" Risa asked with interest. If they didn't... Oh, inside her mind, ideas came from both sides, right and left.

"She is of neither, or none she chooses to speak of. Where she hails from, the lines between the courts tend to be more blurry." Apoxi replied, showing the fae down a hallway where the rooms were.
"No they don't. Though, given you seem to really like kids, try not to go and meet every one of them? You might get attached and Kayen won't let you take home more than one at this point."

A place when the courts were blurry? Risa couldn't remember such a place, much less a time, granted, she was a young fae. Young meaning she was less than nine hundred years old.
"I'll speak with the one I feel most drawn to, then," Risa said with a nod. It wouldn't do for her to get attached and then not be able to take the children home. "What kind of dna have you mixed the fairy's with, anyway?" She asked, genuinely curious. "Human? Or something else?"

"Oh no, not human. Kayen's research requires it to be beast types. Unicorns, Pegasi, Dragons, and so on. Lots of interesting kids."

"Dragons sounds the most interesting," Risa said honestly. "Do you have any fairy-dragon mixed girls? I would love to see them. And are your dragons the hoarding kind, or the good kind? Well... I suppose good depends on your point of view, huh?"
