I haven't seen a thread like this, but then again I haven't been active in this guild for awhile so maybe there was a thread and it died.
But anyway, I'm just going out on a limb that in bigger bands that have sections of at least five people (maybe more?) there is usually one Negative Nancy or Ned that pretty much ruins it for you and makes you feel out of place in your section.
In my experience with my first year of college marching band I feel very out of the loop in my section. She is an upperclassman and I try to watch my actions as a freshman as not to offend her, but she still feels the need to be so gloomy. She has class during the first half of band, and then doesn't learn the drill until much later, and when I mess up while she's first learning it she gets really angry and pushes me into my spot, and I end up profusely apologizing for messing her up, and this happens if she even shows up after her class.
Now maybe I'm just whining, but I try my hardest to appease everyone in my section, which is full of really nice people. But because of her I'm just going to give it up and join the colorguard next year. Yeah, I'm letting her win, but it's not worth it. She's just kind of spoiled my first year of being in an actual marching band, and rather than quit I thought I'd change sections. I've already talked to the colorguard and they seem very polite and close as a section.
Any situations like this? Has someone's constant negative attitude affected the way that you see band?

besides myself, jk, actually, to tell the truth we dont have any negatives, instead we have one annoyingly positive positive.
He's not in my section but everyone's aware of it, this trombone will make a mistake and in the middle of a performance, stop, take the trombone of his lips and do this chuckle thing with his annoying little laugh. He's getting better but it's just ugh.
