i have a problem, and i was wondering if i could get any ideas. im actually having issues with it right now. i know what i want to write, but my mind is going 50 miles a sec. so all the thoughts get jumbled up and confused, and i dont know what to do about it. dose anyone know how i can get my brain to slow down so i can write?

Well, don't feel alone, 'cause a lot of people have that problem-- I'm definitely including myself there. I don't think there are any ways to slow your brain down, but there are ways to deal with it. A lot of times what I find useful is to carry a little notebook around with me everywhere, in case I see something, or hear a phrase I like, or even just get a bunch of ideas all at once and need to jot down some key words so I can remember them (or mostly remember them, anyway) later on.

I guess it's kind of like taking a class where the teacher talks pretty fast during lectures-- just get the most crucial information down as fast as you can, so you don't miss too much of the new stuff coming in. It doesn't work for everyone, but it's an idea. ^-^ Good luck!

meditation helps. At least that is what helps for me. When I feel like my brain is getting cluttered I take a few deep breaths and use a "focusing" technique. Then I go into a type of conscious dream like state where the ideas and such get organized and I can focus on one at a time.

If all else fails, I make lists. Lots and lots of lists. Then I go down the list and focus on one of the items.

Have you tried taking one scene and focusing on it, playing it out like a movie in your head? This was how I started writing. I'd imagine in as much detail as I could (including dialogue) then try to put the one scene into words.

When my thoughts start going to fast to be useful, I tend to jot down little notes and number them. It keeps the craziness organized and gets all the jumbled mess in my head out.
