Cresil was tired. At the moment she found herself walking through a silent patch of woods and was hardly paying attention to where she was going. At this point in her life she had no destination in mind so wandering felt natural. She didn't care where she was going or where she might end up. She was just following the trails as if they were leading her to something good. Maybe she was hoping for that, at least. She supposed she could fly if she wanted to. But flying felt so.. unnatural. She was taught how to fly once in her life, but she almost crashed into a tree. Since then she had only attempted flying twice after, and so far she didn't like it at all. Maybe she could get the hang of it some other day. But for now her wings were useless. They always got caught on branches and continued to bug her day by day. How was it that her siblings dealt with them? They were just luckier she supposed. She stopped suddenly when she noticed a hawk soaring far above her. Ha. The creature made it look so easy and comfortable. With a snort, the mare continued walking and ignoring the shrieks and sounds the bird made. Nature was awfully strange. Where did she fit in to the 'mix'? Maybe she would never make sense in that way. That was bothersome, and frustrating. What the hell was she?

If there was one thing Persaeus never dwelled on, it was his purpose in life. From a young age it had been perfectly apparent that he was to go forth and prosper. He wasn't given any particular duties in relation to this, he was given no set path - all he knew was that he was to use his own specific skill set to achieve his goals. When it came to his family, glory came easily and more importantly it was expected. If he were to be completely honest success just happened and if his conquests were anything to go by then he was beyond successful, he was the Kawani lands very own die hard rake. He was even more lucky in the sense that his mother appreciated his eccentricities and encouraged them!
It was perfect - life was perfect.
He had no complaints.
Well no, that wasn't strictly true, in recent days he had been horrendously bored. All his recent conquests had found their love affairs and the ones who were slightly more loose had lost their appeal. He needed something new to do, whether it be another mare (so crude) or another hobby - he didn't care, he just needed something! As a result he had woken up rather early in the morning, dined on his usual winter meal of leaf tips and wandered off idly into the forests. By the gods he hadn't taken up botany or wild life excursions as a hobby (he was more exciting than that) but as of late there had been an influx of new soquili into the region and who was to say he wouldn't meet another budding debutante? Now that brought a smile to his face...
His lips still creased into a smile, he waded through the deeper areas of foliage within the woods and continued on with considerable ease. He'd only been out for about an hour and had yet to run into anything of note, but he was a patient fellow (in some things) and he still held out hope.

Sigh. The land was so quiet. So bland. So full of forest. But then, there was something different. It didn't take long for the mare to notice something so... RED.
Her eyes squinted and her head tilted in complete and utter surprise. What was that? As she walked forward carefully and quietly, she finally could see the figure of a stallion come into view. Well, it appeared her day would take a turn of change afterall. Should she approach the other Soquili? How long had it been since she had met a stranger? She remembered her very strange encounter with the yellow stallion. Was this another exhausting and depressed stallion? Yikes indeed. Now she felt kind of worried.
What was her other choice? Run away and continue to be silent and bored? She supposed she could give it a shot and see who was in front of her. Who was she to judge anyways? Maybe his personality was as vibrant as his coloring.
Without further ado, Cresil took a breath of air in and stomped forward with a usual false confidence. When she was finally closer to the noticeable stallion, she halted rather then becoming to close to the stranger. "Good morning." Maybe that would get his attention? "I hope I am not interrupting anything, but I noticed you from just a bit away." She wasn't very comfortable with small talk. The shakiness of her voice was a good indicator of that.

Ding, ding, ding!
There was something to be said for having a bit of patience, no sooner had he accepted the concept of a slow morning than he had been rewarded with company. Blessed company! His silver gaze flicked up in response to the disturbance and he lifted a brow in reply. It wasn't what he was usually accustomed to, the greeting that was, company was something he was very accustomed to. Consequently it took him a little bit longer than was normal for him to respond; he supposed the delay was actually down to his pause to assess her. Suffice to say he wavering voice hadn't gone unnoticed and it had been a while since he had met a shy soquili - either that, or she was nervous for some reason.
Possibly both.
"If you're apologising for interrupting my walk, I hardly think it's necessary," he replied at last with a lazy smile. Rolling his shoulders, he gave a snort and shooed the strands of white forelock from his eyes. Unsurprisingly they flopped back over his gaze within a few moments, mirroring their equally rebellious owner. "It's something I see everyday," he added as an after thought. However, when it came to nervous soquili he definitely wasn't one with tact - some might have said this was poor tactics but there was definitely some entertainment to be gained from watching them flounder when he was direct!
...Well he'd never said he was nice.
"You are a new sight though, rather rare to see an Angeni bumbling about in the woods..." he paused and narrowed his eyes a little, she looked disconcertingly familiar and he was doubtful that he'd slept with her (he would have remembered that). "Especially one who looks strikingly familiar. Care to tell me who you are, hm?"

My. So he was the complete opposite of what she thought! This would fare as interesting at least. She felt a sudden rush of energy in response to his own. It was refreshing and unusual for her. She hadn't felt this way in awhile... the last time must have been when she was surrounded by her siblings. They always put her in a better mood as well.
When he mentioned that she was an Angeni she snorted rather loudly, knowing far too well that that was false. Her father seemed to be 'blessed' with wings portraying an angel's last hope whereas the rest of him was far from angelic. As for being familiar... she had no idea to what he was talking about. Did she look like somebody he knew? How strange. He must have been very sociable then.
"My name is Cresil. I wonder why I come off as familiar.. maybe you have met one of my siblings or my parents." She stared at him carefully while loosening her limbs a bit. "What about you? Who are you, or rather, what is your name?" There was something off-putting about his facial expressions. She couldn't tell if she could trust him, so she decided to stay on guard. He was definitely an interesting character.
... She hated to admit it, but his confidence was just as familiar. But why?

"You look a lot like my aunt," he pointed out rather flatly. Testament to his lack of tact, he hit the nail on the head instantly as he took note of the contours of her face and her hair - she had that air about her too but recently he'd encountered a few females with a holier-than-thou nature... Suffice to say they hadn't lasted long in his presence, they'd always melted eventually. He gave a shrug at this though, she may have looked like hus aunt to a degree but there were slight differences - for one thing, she didn't give off enough confidence to be linked to her. Surely his aunt would have imbued any hell spawn with her false confidence and egotism by now?
"Name's Persaeus," he added without much hesitation, giving a loose shrug to relax his shoulders. It was peculiar. but an early morning walk tended to make him more stiff than if he'd taken one later in the day! All those early birds were clearing lying through their teeth when they declared they felt refreshed, renewed and otherwise fit to take on the world... He'd love to know how they had enough strength to walk without that slight kink in the leg. "Although anyone I figure who's worth a salt gets to call me Persy," it was an after thought but he figured he'd mention it. After all, if there was one thing mares aspired to do it was to be considered worth something.
It was always entertaining to watch them try.
Even more entertaining (and satisfying) to hear them murmur it in the throws of passion but that was perhaps a little too much information for her delicate ears just yet.
"As for what I am," he grinned in a roguish manner and lifted his brow once more. "Why; I happen to be your friendly neighbourhood rake!" he announced with far more enthusiasm than was really appropriate for such a position in society (well bred mares and their mamas positively loathed him).

This stallion seemed to be full of surprises left and right. She gulped rather carefully before looking him in the eye once more. His aunt? The only individual that could be related as such was... "You must know my mother, Angelique.." she quietly added, while considering the possibilities. "How though?" Her mother was always so quiet about those she was related to. When Cresil was younger her mother had such a focus on their 'current' family that she never got learn about some of the others out there. It was always such a shame and strange mystery.
Either way, it was cool to finally meet one of the many she was related to. Hopefully she could learn something from him. Or at least enjoy herself. "Well it is nice to meet you... Persy." She felt like taking a stab and calling him by the more personal name. Hell, they were practically sharing some of the same blood, and who would have thought! As she listened to the stallion describe himself, she was actually impressed. He was so... different then she was. But the way he acted felt familiar for her at the same time. When she was around her family she acted just as high and mighty. But lately her mind had sunk to an all time low. That wasn't how she preferred it though.
"You are refreshing, I am thankful I've run into you. You are reminding me where I came from." Even if that felt far away at times... "I guess our unicorn genes are proof that I do know you, somehow." And their good lucks, altogether better genes and impressive families. "It sounds like you have a pretty interesting rep in this neighborhood of land." she could only chuckle and wonder how all of the mares reacted to him. If only her own brother acted in such a way. He was the most timid out of all of them!
"So, if my mother is your aunt.. then which of your parents is related to her? I apologize, this is all so new to me." she grunted quietly and was disappointed that she didn't know any of this. Her mother was such a child. How could she not tell them of other family members? Even her father was open with some of his other relatives.

"So the failure is do embroiled in her quest for the ultimate coup of my father that she fails to even mention him," he drawled and rolled his eyes. Easing himself into a more comfortable position, the stallion rested most of his weight on his hindleg and arched a brow. His expression became supercilious, clearly unimpressed by her enthusiasm and naivity - he'd always known that his aunt was an absolute failure and obssessed with defeating his father but she'd spawned this?
"She must be getting desperate," he voiced his own thoughts and shook his head with sly satisfaction. Ah, so she had sought out and bedded an Angeni in the hopes of upstaging her brother. Unfortunately for her, his father had already created one hell of a family and by the gods they were suitably more 'together' (though admittedly dsyfunctional) than his aunt's clear attempts to best him. First she'd slept with a random male and lost how many of her offspring? Now she'd bedded an Angeni...
Cute!
The moron had even let her get pregnant - If he could golfclap he would have.
Suffice to say, Persy was not as happy to meet his cousin as she was to meet him. She may have led a sheltered life (more failure on behalf of his aunt) but he hadn't, and the gods knew he didn't want that weighing him down when he had more important things to do. Still, it provided him with the perfect opportunity to regard the recent spawn that she had produced and take note of her further failings. Evidently, his father had bested her for a second time - woe was Angelique!
"My name is Persaeus to those who do not deserve to use anything else," he corrected her smoothly and gave a snort, there was no way she would be entitled to call him Persy - only his mother and sister were privvy to such things! "And don't lump me in with your sorry excuse for a mother, unicorn genes or not you could be related to any bloody unicorn - your mother is loose enough for it anyway," he remarked.
Low blow?
Probably, he'd destroy anyone who said that outside his family but he was more than entitled to do it!
"My father is your uncle, his name is Antichrist," he paused and shook his head, shooing the hair from his eyes again. "And it would appear that for the second time he has completely annihilated your mother in their eternal competition - how many stallions has she slept with now in an attempt to best him hm?" his brow raised higher and he offered a sickly smile.
"You must have plenty of siblings given her nature."
If her mood was at an all time low now, it was probably set to get even worse as the stallion battered the reputation of her own mother!

It seemed fate would have it that Cresil could never be happy. Things could never just work out for her, easily at least. There was a reason she usually had a huge wall up and around her. She didn't believe in trusting others. It even took her awhile to open up to her own siblings just out of the sheer competition for mother's approval! She must have really been going crazy, to think she could have wanted to believe in this stallion and like him. Though in a sense.. she could have thanked him. She always felt better when she was angry. Luckily she had gotten a grip after hearing all of his remarks. And somehow, she had survived all of them before wanting to kick him appropriately in his goods. There was always time for that, anyhow.
"I didn't realize that the competition aspect would follow me for my entire life. And here I thought I could actually get along with someone from this blasted family." Oh hell. No wonder she constantly ran away from them. And no wonder she found solitude in her father's relatives! They always admitted to their mistakes, betrayals and even bloodlust's! And all and all they just loved each other. Was that so damn hard to ask for?!
"I am glad I've never met your father, then. I'm guessing he would treat me with the same respect as you have." Maybe her mother was protecting her. Who would have thought? Her mother obviously refused to talk about her brother for a reason. And maybe that reason was a good enough one. At this point, Cresil didn't even need any other evidence. Angelique's family was just too messed up to comprehend.
"Well thank you. After this encounter I'll continue to forget who my uncle is. And I'm sure I will live a much happier life with that in mind." After wisping her hair behind her dark eyes, the mare chuckled and felt a rise develop in her heart. What an a**. She really felt stupid. But she felt better at the same time. So many emotions bubbling up and down in her stomach. She just wanted to hate. Finally, she could hate this guy in front of her. "The only reason I will remember your name is so my father can hopefully kill you." And with that, she could only smile and imagine her father's tail-spikes in between this stallion's stupid smile.
"Hm. I wanted to call you Persy because I thought Persaeus was a girl's name. My apologies, I will call you what you desire." Nothing wrong with respecting his wishes! But really. This was great! She wanted to kick a** again and watch her father tear something to shreds. Was she crazy? She hoped so. If being crazy meant being happy.. then damn, she wanted as much as possible.

Wow, his siblings hadn't been lying when they said Angelique and probably her offspring would be so easy to goad! His brow lifted higher at her outburst and he held his silence. He remained relaxed, his posture non-threatening and expression otherwise unconcerned. He had expected this, from the tales his parents had told him Angelique reacted in much the same way - she could never admit she had been beaten and yet time and time again she fell into a rut. That being said, even Persaeus had to admit that these ruts presented some form of entertainment even if it was at the expense of the unfortunate family members who had come out of it.
You see, if his aunt had been intelligent about it she would have selected more suitable mates, more stable mates litke Persaeus' mother. His family line was so strong and the bonds unbreakable. Oh, Persy's family teased and jested one another but deep down there was great adoration and the bitterness that all of Angelique's family experienced? Well, that definitely didn't exist!
"You have never met my father," he rolled his shoulders and regarded the mare with passive eyes. His mood hadn't sobered in the slightest, he generally found entertainment in flustered individuals (they were so illogical) but he did feel the need to defend his father just a little. "If you were worth your salt and proved to possess more intelligence than your mother I'm sure he would be more considerate than you give him credit for." He was serious in this, while Antichrist was firm in his views he had some remote sense of honour and if he realised that Angelique's own daughter had bested her - well... who knew how he would respond? Personally, Persaeus would congratulate her for such a coup.
"Unfortunately it would seem that your reckless outburst, illogical thought processes and unoriginal insults indicate that you are perhaps a clone of your mother in all respects - always relying on someone else to do your dirty work," he flicked a supercilious smile onto his lips and clucked his tongue slowly. "Alas, perhaps in a few years you will develop your own sense of being. Heavens help you if you should be subject to her scrutiny for an eternity," he drawled and rolled his eyes.
"And I never said we couldn't get along, I was merely recognise who you are and what you came from - it was you who chose to support your mother's stereotype with your outburst, nyah?" he pointed out wisely and this time, he really did lull into silence. Snorting his rebellious locks from his eyes, he examined his tail briefly and coiled it round his leg.

"Clone to my mother?" she laughed at his wrong assumption and tried to calm herself after the words had settled in. "I am afraid you are quite mistaken. You can go and ask her about her daughter Cresil. And you know what she will say? Oh, the strange and useless one. She is none of my concern." The mare then hmphed and growled to herself. "That's why when I was old enough the first thing I did was avoid every place my mother ever took us. Plus that gave me time to train with my father and move on in general." And once she was with him, nothing else mattered.
It was strange. Angelique completely disregarded Cresil's existence while she was growing up. Cresil didn't stand out to her mother as anything worthy. Her other siblings had unique traits and even stronger personalities. Cresil on the other hand hid while everyone flourished. Once they all grew into their bodies, Cresil started to stand out as having her mother's complete beauty. Suddenly Angelique became quite interested in her daughter and was trying to teach her about which stallions to go for. Cresil rebelled against her mother's foolish words and was suddenly unwanted soon after. Her mother's final words would always echo in her mind... "No daughter of mine would ever be so foolish. So you can't possibly be my blood." She was grateful that her father took her in as another warrior to cherish, but her mother was a lost cause. Family was nothing but a never ending stress and strain to her. She was just jealous that others knew how to do it right. Like this relative in front of her. His confidence alone was enough to prove what a great family he came from.
"Look..." After her mind sorted everything out, the mare took a breath in and tried to reclaim some sanity and calmness to the situation. "I probably hate my mother. Like, really really hate her. But she did bring me into this world, and give me such an unbelievable and loving father. And although I can agree with some of your... truths, I have to still stand up for her." Since, she had always promised her father that. It hurt to defend Angelique. But what was right sometimes hurt the most. "My family is undoubtedly strange, and I've never wanted pride. I've just wanted... respect." Sadly from.. anybody or anything.
"As for your father, if he is indeed different from my mother then that is very great for you. I envy your family and your upbringing." Ah well, not everything in life was perfect. But there were those that could at least benefit better from their families! "I.. hope I am coming off as more civil. I never wanted to seem foolish like my mother." Ugh, because then she would be the same judgmental b***h that caused her hell everyday!
"I am interested.. how many siblings do you have, then?" Were they as confident as he? And could siblings get along? Wouldn't that be something amazing!

He'd hit a nerve but instead of it being one of those 'bad' ones it turned out to be a rather good one. Whatever he had hit acted as some sort of tranquiliser and the fury his cousin had been feeling in response to his initial goading had evaporated. He wasn't privvy to the drama that went on in her family (though he heard whispers) but it was evident from the outset that her relationship with her mother wasn't great. He took pleasure in this; not in her discomfort so to speak, but in the fact that Angelique really had failed and his father, for all his faults, thrived as he continued to drift down the path he had chosen in life. Not everyone agreed with Antichrist's views or behaviour, but there were few in the world who would (or could) dispute that he had been successful in many things. Deep in the pit of his chest, Persaeus bubbled with a renewed sense of pride.
...Not that he needed the ego boost.
At all.
Still, her response had been so severe and so sudden that he could do nothing more than lift a brow. His deliberately provocative behaviour seemed meaningless as the fury evaporated and she seemed to deflate before his very eyes. Whatever horror stories the mare might have had about his aunt, it was clear they had done some form of lasting damage that left him with a hollowness. Urgh, he'd never live that one down if his siblings got ahold of that news! They'd declare he was getting soft or worse still, consorting with the enemy. That being said he wasn't entirely sure if she would be classified as an enemy, she definitely seemed to adore her father but when it came to his esteemed aunt... It was clear as day that the fondness wasn't there, a shame she'd been born into that side of the family, nyah?
"I'll level with you," he chewed on his lip thoughtfully and then shook his head. "Respect isn't going to come easy with a mother like yours, the very fact she feels the need to insult everything leaves a bit of a sour taste in the mouth," he pointed out. He rolled his shoulders in a loose shrug, he was aware that he had a bit of aviper tongue too but even he wasn't so uncouth as to use it at every opportunity - he only ever used his tongue to put a creature firmly in its place. In short, anything that wasn't beneath him soon would be both literally and figuratively, he was aware this was crude but this was how the world worked in his books. Angelique may have been vain and incredibly critical but it would have been easy to see that Antichrist and Anarchy imbued a huge ego into their children. Not that this was a bad thing, it could just be a tad overwhelming sometimes!
"But if you keep a calm head about it," he nodded as if to say 'like you are now', "Then soquili will eventually get over the fact you're related to her and see you for you," he spoke from experience, though not necessarily through his own. He had conversed with enough soquili, both male and female, to gain their life histories and more. Just because he hadn't suffered at the hands of the cruel (they would have never gotten away with it) didn't mean he didn't pick up the tales of those who had - there was a silver lining, one just had to be patient about finding it when it came down to the bare bones of the issue.
There was a brief pause after this, then his lips schooled into a well practised and boyish smirk.
"I envy me too," he cooed smoothly at her remark, his eyes developing that mischievous sparkle that often meant trouble. Luckily for Cresil, he was merely trying to lighten the move as opposed to pulling an horrendous prank on her, or worse. Suffice to say he couldn't seduce his cousin, that would be beyond bad practice and incredibly tasteless! "Most people envy me, it's not every day you see a male quite as attractive as me - even my brothers are jealous!" he declared with such confidence that it must have been true. The truth of the matter of course, was that his brothers would have scoffed and thrown him into the nearest mud hole, but they weren't there to dispute his claims... Nor was Rebel there to release that roar of laughter she often did when she heard something utterly ridiculous.
However when she chose to enquire about his family in further detail he smoothed the amused lines of his face and pondered her question for a few moments.
"I have five - two sisters and three brothers," he offered after his brief period of consideration. His family was small by no means, but it certainly wasn't as monstrously big as Angeliques brood either. "I think two of my brothers have even landed themselves companions," he wrinkled his nose a little at the thought of settling down; such an idea really didn't appeal to him at this moment in time. "And I have a bet with one of my sisters to tame a Skinwalker," he added with another of his noncommital shrugs, he had already heard mares positively shriek at him for his 'stupidity' in regards to such a bet - really, when were they going to learn that neither he or his sister were quite so foolish? When it came to the Kawani province, some individuals just didn't have a sense of humour.
"She hasn't been terribly successful," he added. "Just in case you were wondering."

She wondered if her face was showing utter shock at the situation. She tried to wipe the immature expression off but it was true, she was quite surprised. Some way of some other her cousin had.. listened to her? She supposed this was the first time that had ever happened, as pathetic as that might have been. No one had ever given her such time. It felt brilliant! She listened to him as respectively as he had listened to her and took his information in word for word. He was actually quite intelligent and easy to relate to. "Thank you." she finally added, while showing a smile under her hidden face. "I will get the respect I deserve on my own and in my own way."
She was hardly surprised at the stallion's next statements, and could naturally release a silly chuckle towards his words. Well at least he was honest. And at this point the mare found nothing wrong with those who were overconfident. Look at how amazing Persaeus was, the lucky brute! Maybe one day she'd have the same sort of mannerisms as he did. That would take some serious time and work but she was up for the challenge. It also intrigued her that he too had some sort of competition between his siblings. It sounded like a much healthier version then she was used to. Yet another reason to be jealous of him!
Before she could dwell on that any further, she perked up at his mention of his family members. Well, it was good to know that four others like him roamed the land. "I had no idea there were so many of you, how lovely they all must be!" It still made her a bit miffed that her mother hid such information from them. She really had transcended what crazy meant. "I suppose I will have to be the judge of who is the best looking." her tone of voice had adapted to be more playful as his had, and she loosened her shoulders even more in response.
"Settling down, eh?" Not that she had anything wrong with it, but the idea itself was never presented to her as a true option of life. "In a sense I think that makes your brothers very lucky that they have found mares that have gained their complete attention." Her mother was hardly a patron at this act. "Taming.. a skinwalker?! Now that is frightening." her eyes were widened and she suddenly feared for her other cousin's safety. "Seriously now? She must be quite the mare." Cresil tried imagining such a mare that was totally strong and capable on her own. Yes... that's exactly what she wanted to be, minus the taming of skinwalkers part. Independence would be perfection.
"I'd be an idiot if I tried to count how many siblings I have, so let's just say I have too many shall we?" She wrinkled her nose lightly and sighed appropriately. "If anything you've probably had better chances at running into them over me." Now that she thought about it, she did meet one of her father's other sons when she was a brat of a child. The encounter didn't go very well at all, and she suddenly was reminded on how she needed to apologize to him one day. Man, her mother had created a monster while her brain was developing.
"So, why hasn't a stallion like yourself found the most beautiful mare in the land to settle down with?" Hm, was that even the common routine? She really had no idea! "I have no doubt that you will find one, but I am curious of course." And maybe too nosey?

"She is a whirlwind of energy," despite his best efforts he couldn't keep the warmth out of his voice when he mentioned his sister. She drove him absolutely mental and if he could climb the walls he would do so on occasions through sheer exasperation. She was, for all intents and purposes, absolutely fantastic and he'd slaughter any unworthy stallion he came across - or he would if she didn't get at them first. Suffice to say, Cresil had the right idea when she assumed Rebel could take care of herself. Perhaps she couldn't defend herself from the wrath of an angered Skinwalker, but when it came to randy stallions she could probably best any one of them in one strike. Actually there was no probably about it; she'd obliterate them and if she didn't he'd never let her live it down... but he would make sure that he obliterated them instead. He may have given off an air of indifference towards most people but it was a little more complex when it came to his family.
His expression did become grave though, when she mentioned that she would be the judge of attractiveness between his siblings and himself.
"You will not be disappointed," he spoke with a surprising firmness and a confident smile curled his lips upwards. It wasn't quite a supercilious expression but it was definitely a smile provided by a rake who knew exactly how to charm the hooves off a passing mare. Granted he wasn't attempting to charm his cousin but he was rather secure in his position when it came to how 'handsome' he was - if his conquests were anything to go by, he was definitely up to scratch!
Still when she came to realise that he had been listening to all of what she had to say his smile did deepen somewhat. She wasn't very good at hiding her emotions (though he was sure she'd figure that one out herself) and he'd picked up on it almost immediately. He wasn't going to chastise her for it, but let his arrogance never be mistaken for ignorance - he may treat another with absolute disdain but he heard everything. It was unwise to develop selective hearing when you were insulting an individual, he knew better than that. Nevertheless, at the mention of him finding a companion he let out a rather loud burst of laughter, the sound rumbled in his throat briefly before escaping his lips and he shook his head. If only she knew...
"To each their own, my brothers are welcome to dote on a single mare if they so choose," he replied smoothly and cleared his throat. The mares were lucky to even gain their attentions, but his brothers did seem happy and he wouldn't press them to adopt his way of life - they certainly didn't pester him about the way he chose to live his. "But I have little interest in dallying with a mare for that long, whether you care to admit it or not your gender are incredibly irritating and those in Kawani province are horrendous adventuresses..." he pointed out gravely. He chose not to mention his conquests just yet, merely his lack of interest in settling down.
Really, him?
Man would reach the moon by the time that happened.
In short - never.

Persaeus regarded her for a long while, not sure whether to be exasperated or amused by her insistence that he would wed. She was adamant that he would find a mare and dedicate his life to her, forever. His brothers may have enjoyed being bound and shackled by their mates but he didn't find the idea terribly appealing - nor did he find the concept of fatherhood tempting either. The thought of having little midgets clinging to him day in day out while he was responsible for their well being and safety did little for him. He wasn't in to the whole doting father thing and he was simply too selfish to devote time and attention to someone who wasn't him. He was man enough to admit these faults but he had absolutely no intention of fixing them - he liked the way he was now (and so did the mares he consorted with).
"My brothers are more than capable of continuing the legacy if they so choose," he replied wryly and shook his head. A small smile teased across his lips, his expression less grim than most bachelors would have been seen with when the subject of matchmaking came up. He'd heard it all before and had been openly pursued by determined mamas but they had all failed. Having a cousin inform him that she foresaw him marrying off and having little mini-mes was nothing new, his sisters frequently teased him about it though they were aware of how unlikely the outcome may be.
Rebel often liked to see his feathers ruffled!
"And much of a soquili's behaviour is based on their surroundings and upbringing, if you treated your children as you desire to be treated yourself then 'bad genes' don't feature much," he shrugged loosely as though he were privvy to the way mother nature worked. He was fairly certain that if his parents had chosen to raise him without such care, then he would probably have lacked the staggering confidence he had today. His proof lay in the behaviour of other soquili, their upbringing was beyond 'gentle' and the stallions could definitely be deemed blubbering fools. Coddling parents were to blame for this, they'd raised their children to be too soft. Oh, there was always an element of consideration required in life but sometimes it went beyond ridiculous.
"As for one such as I providing a good influence," his smile became sly and he leaned back on his hind legs to focus on his cousin once more. "I would think it is safe to say there will be those who disagree most adamantly with you in that respect but..." he trailed off and provided a rather dramatic and over emphasised bow. "I am honoured to be of assistance," he offered dryly and flashed another of his roguish smiles. "There are few who are privvy to such aid, I can promise you that much..." Again he fell quiet, absorbing the words that escaped from her lips and then he pursed his own.
"Heh, I have no issue in meeting attractive mares," he was being deliberately obtuse to her meaning of course. "But it's certainly a pleasure to be the one to introduce you to the better side of the family," he cooed with a hint of jest in his tone.
