Those thoughts flew threw her head as she slowed down from her run. She'd been running for weeks, eating on the go, usually chewing on squirrels and rabbits or anything else she could scoop up and eat. Meru was running from a bad past. She'd been taken capture by some male, who tried to rape her, get her to start a family with him. It wouldn't have been so bad if he didn't try to keep her in his sights at all time. He wouldn't let her hunt by herself, wouldn't let her talk to anyone. He was far to controlling.

Infatuation turned to hate. The only reason she'd gone to him was because he made her feel pretty and wanted. He had wanted her. She felt, with that male, her would would have been complete.

Boy was she wrong. She'd been beaten, bitten, and just abused in more ways than physical. Not wanting to remember, she shook her head clean and panted, looking around where she was. Way east of where she had been. Water. She needed water like she needed to breath, and oh, Gods above, she needed both. Frantic sniffing and she followed the trail to water, her limbs aching, her stomach empty, her throat hot and dry.

Finally, there it was. A small pond. It was wonderful when she walked right in it, up to her chest and dipped her head, taking huge drinks of water without even lapping. She just opened her mouth and gulped. So not lady like. What did she care?

Dharma greeted the day with a wide yawn, his teeth glinting in the minimal light that peeked into his den. He sprawled a moment, stretching his legs before rolling over and shaking himself off. Another day, another...day.

He nosed through the brush at a lazy pace, a bachelor's pace. There was no one to keep waiting, after all. As far as he knew his territory was secure, and secure meant empty. He certainly wasn't expecting company, not at his pond. Nope.

Of course, the following sight of...someone...up to their back in his pond was a bit...unusual. As it was, they looked fairly thirsty. He inched closer, and bent to lap at the water gently. He kept one eye on his 'guest', while at the same time trying not to disturb them. So far they seemed harmless after all.

She didn't notice him. Not yet. She was taking her fill of the cold liquid, trying to fill her stomach with it instead of food. Food was over rated for a wolfess on the move. She let her tail flick under the water and then gave a sigh as she took her last gulp, stretching in the water. Meru didn't care about how high the water was, not at all. It felt far too good on her aching muscles.

Something caught her attention. Lapping? Flicking her blue eyes to the sound, she saw... a very... very oddly marked male. Her heart stopped. She stood, frozen in the water and stared at him. What could she help it? Meru had just escaped one male and ran into another. That wasn't a good sign. Not at all. Though.... This one didn't seem to pay her any mind. She really didn't sense any harmful things coming off of him. No, he seemed relaxed or carefree. It was eerie.

She moved slowly towards the shore, swallowing thickly. Her paws touched grass and she shook herself off. Her short fur bristled as the water dripped off. Meru didn't have to impress this male. Why should she care what she looked like?
