The gazelle from a few days ago was treating Unzu well. No longer quite so thin, he was sleek and healthy now, roaming around the swampy lands, staying out of pridal territories and feeding off of whatever was slow enough to catch. Man, he loved the rainy season, though this was the first one he had actually had to spend alone. It wasn't so hard being on his own. And though he occassionally caught glimpses of the resident lions, he had seen neither hide nor hair of that lioness from a few days ago.

All in all, Unzu was happy with how this season was going. It was sweet. He pulled himself out of one of the temporary lakes, dripping water, and shook himself off, padding along through the grasslands without any particular destination in mind. He moved slowly and leisurely, staying out of the sun where possible. Soon enough it'd be too hot to do anything besides siesta under a convenient tree, even with all of the cool water around.

It had taken a day or two, but Akinyi had all but forgotten about her run-in with that male, opting instead to focus on herself. There was no use dwelling over some a*****e lion she would probably never see again. The kill had kept her healthy and her strength up -- that was all that mattered. AND he hadn't gotten the chance to spread his seed, like she knew he wanted to. He was just that type of a*****e. She knew that as soon as he was done, that pervy ******** would be on her like stink on a warthot. And he had been right about one thing -- he was larger, stronger and had quite a bit of weight on her. She wasn't sure she would have been able to fend him off, had he really wanted it.

Best to let him wallow in his own self-importance. Good riddance to bad meat.

As it was, Akinyi was basking under a tree near the temporary water hole, half asleep in the afternoon sun. Her coat was light enough she didn't feel the heat as acutely as someone with a darker coat, but it was certainly warm enough she didn't feel like moving from the shade of the tree. Her tail flicking lazily, she didn't even open her eyes as the birds settled in the tree overhead. Had she smelled Unzu, she might have. But once again, he was downwind of her.

Unzu was so chillaxed that he didn't even smell Akinyi, the dappled shadows that the tree draped across her helping her blend in too well for him to see. The dark pelted lion was making a beeline in her direction, sizing the tree up and deeming it a respectable place for his majesty to hold the fort whilst the day's heat held its diurnal seige. He'd just completely forgotten about that wretched lioness when he suddenly ran face first into her, tripping over her tail and pitching forward, rolling onto his side and glaring, leaping to his feet, fur bristled.

Then he saw who it was.

"Oh..." he sighed, as if mildly relieved, his alertness pointless, for she was no threat, and bared his teeth a little. "It's you," he sneered.

Akinyi was practically falling asleep, lulled by the buzz of the insects around her and the heat of the day, the soft grasses tickling her as they swayed. It was such a nice day. Such a beautiful day, and she intended to enjoy it. For once, in this hell called the rogue lands, she wasn't going to get angry at anything. Nothing could ruin it.

The feeling of something catching on her tail caused the young lioness to yowl in surprise, jerking up and jumping a little clumsily to her feet, already bearing her teeth at the intruder. Her blue eyes narrowed at the form of the lion half-sprawled on the ground, and she felt an itch of recognition. Dark grey. Stripes. That all-too-familiar sneer. No...

She had spoken too soon.

Laying back down, Akinyi spread herself out under the tree, giving him a hateful, yet uncaring look as she relaxed again, pretending to be unperturbed by his presence. "Oh. It's just you," She replied back, giving a great lion yawn before closing her eyes, ignoring him. "Go away. I'm trying to nap, and you smell like you rolled in s**t."

Unzu laid down where he was pointedly as she resettled, stretching out into full 'relaxed lion under tree during heat of midday' pose, panting a little to let off the excess heat as the water on his body evaporated. He was not going to let this female take the tree he wanted, she would have to share it. And mojo was a little excited about this too.

"No. There is plenty of room under this tree for both of us. You'll just have to deal with the smell. At least I don't smell like hippo piss," he curled his nose, turning his head away from her, but not after he glanced over her.

He decided to chance it, still not looking at her, after a few moments of silence.

"So... you're looking... well," he remarked, and would have wriggled his eyebrow if his face were not aimed elsewhere, his tone belieing the true motivations of his mojo.

"I get it, first you steal my kill, then you steal my shade. You're just crushing on me, aren't you? How cute," She jabbed, flicking her tail at him, snorting. Still, she made no move to get up, and as he went quiet things seemed to settle. In the wake of silence, she almost relaxed, her muscles untensing. She could barely tell he was there. If he kept quiet, maybe she could go to sleep, and he'd be gone when she woke up.

No such luck.

Akinyi was wary of his antics, her eyes sliding open, head tilting a little to half glare at him, sizing him up. Was he actually trying to be nice? Or was this just some plan to woo her. Because if he thought she was just going to roll over and let him screw her, he had another thing coming. He'd have to be pretty damn friendly for her to forgive him after the stint he pulled. And even then, she wasn't sure she wanted to even chance little assholes like him running around. She was the one who'd have to take care of them anyway. He'd probably just waltz out on them.

b*****d. Still... maybe she should play nice.

"So are you," She replied nonchalantly, thinking of nothing better to say.

He still refused to look at her, tilting his head slightly, as if considering her response carefully, weighing it to detect sarcasm, thinking it over. Finally, Unzu turned his head around, and decided to see how far he could get. She hadn't bitten his head off yet and that was a very good sign, so what did he have to lose? He shifted his pose, leaning back a little and resting a paw on his chest, flicking his tail and smirking.

"You know, I really have to apologize about the other day," he informed her in a kind of cocky tone, his lime green eyes wandering over her.

"Then you should," She replied, her eyes settling on him, narrowing a little as he looked her over like that. The tone wasn't angry as much as it was snippy, mere shadows of the anger she had felt a few days before. She still thought he was a douche, but she was lulled by the sun and had been fed already that day, and so it was much more difficult to be angry with him. She also felt that pull of need towards him that he so acutely felt, but she resisted it. She did not want little assholes running around.

Shifting a little in the grass, she eyed him a little more, spreading out as if to tantalize him, snorting again.

"I guess I should too. Although you could have asked. I would have given you some of my kill."

This was all going awesomely well, and Unzu was grinning like an idiot, rolling onto his back flirtatiously, kicking out a hind leg in full sprawl. He was starting to act like he knew he was going to get laid, but hey, Akinyi was totally up for it, wasn't she?

Then he blinked, laughing at her words, amused by the lioness's joke.

"Oh no, not about that. I mean if I'd known how beautiful you looked when you're all taken care of, I would have let you have the whole heart, baby," he winked at her, wiggling against the cooler ground beneath the tree, totally suave.

She could deal with his idiotic grin. She could even deal with that flirtatious posing (he did look pretty good... she couldn't like.) It was not until he spoke that the guilt she had felt for attacking him completely disappeared once more.

Akinyi twitched. Patience, patience... that was meant to be a compliment, right? Still, she couldn't help but tense a little, staying perfectly still, counting backwards from a million. It didn't feel like that was going to be good enough.

"How sweet," She replied, trying extremely hard to not snap at him, "I'm sure you say that to every lioness you meet." That last part had been a little bit more of a jab, although honestly, she wasn't sure he would get it regardless. He probably would take it as her saying he was a wonderful speciman, and it was an invitation to screw her now, please, she wanted his babies.

Uch.

Unzu heard the tension in her voice and rolled back into his side, giving her an annoyed look. She obviously couldn't tell when she'd been complimented, even if she was still trying to claim the kill as hers. But he'd forgive her because she was cute and he wanted a warm body to curl up next to on those cool rainy season nights.

"No, baby, just you this season. You're the finest lioness I've seen out here," he let his smirk return, fluttering his eyes at her. "What do you say, we can team up for the season, just you n' me? I'll take good care of you~" he purred, one hundred and ten percent condescending.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 15, 2009 3:11 pm

Akinyi prickled again, clenching and unclenching her paws, claws digging a little into the dirt as she struggled, and failed, not to return the condescending tone.

"Thanks, but I'm not sure you can take care of yourself, much less me."

This was too much. He was good looking, she'd give him that, but he was definitely not good looking enough that she'd let him treat her as if she was some little 'wifey.' No wonder he wasn't taken already -- he was such a d**k, no lioness could stand him. Her only consolation was knowing he probably never would get a girl, the way he was talking. Shaking the dried grass from her coat, she narrowed her eyes at him, huffing, giving him the cold shoulder as she walked away.

"You're an arrogant, self-centered p***k, and I hope you die in a fire. Just thought you aught to know."

The dark lion set his jaw, his eyes burning on the lioness. How dare she speak to him that way? Didn't she get it by now? He was awesome, and she'd better act like it! She would be salivating by now, so excited that he was propositioning her. Instead she was being a wretch again. He got to his feet, snorting.

"You are the worst lioness I have ever met. Perhaps you like the company of other lionesses more than a lion that can really show you a good time. I don't know what your problem is, but if you don't want any, FINE, I'll take that offer right back and leave you to your lonesome," he growled, turning his back on her and stalking off, furious.
