Just because she had been gone for a week didnt mean that teachers had to give her so much make-up work. Crystal Academy's load wasn't too bad day-by-day but when it piled up like this.. Serah felt like she could murder someone. Figuratively, of course.
Heaving a great big irritated sigh alone in the classrom, one could see all the papers done piled neatly on one desk while Serah sat at the desk with the scattered unfinished papers. She almost didn't want to miss another day just so she didnt have to do all this work. But she needed to at least get adequate grades to please her insufferable parents. The less they were on her case, the better.
Her head down, she muttered to the desk, to herself in the empty teacher's classroom. "Maybe if I asked the teacher for another day... Ugh." She knew that the teacher wouldn't give her another day, as harsh as she was, Serandite's sleeping in class did not earn points with that teacher. In class, her sleeping habits made the teacher almost hate her. She closed her eyes, intending to take a small break for a few seconds, hand curled up with a pencil and posture slumped into the desk.

Khalla often over exerted herself and it didn't always pay off in the end. Still, that never seemed to stop her from taking as much extra credit as humanly possible and then some. Today she was scuttling into the classroom with her hands full of books and papers, a tower in her arms that was in danger of toppling over at any moment.
She wound her way carefully through the desks until she could slide into the one situated next to the only soul in the room. She deposited half her books on the floor and drew one up to settle on top of her desk, a pleased smile on her face. She often came to extra classes to finish all her extra credit, otherwise it simply didn't get done!
As was polite, she turned to look at the girl next to her and introduce herself, her hand already halfway outstretched before she'd even rotated completely. However, once she'd gotten a good look at her, a horrified expression spread over her face. "Oh my goodness!" she almost squeaked, "what in the world happened to you, you poor dear!"

... That was certainly.. a large stack that girl was carrying. Serah couldn't even see the other behind the massive tower of books. Serah didnt know why she didn't sit at the nearest desk, instead the girl made her way towards .. herself? Oh goodness.
Just because she had a couple of bandages on her face and her thighs didnt mean she looked that bad did she? Serah wondered if she looked that bad. Perhaps she did. Perhaps she didn't. The injured girl did draw disdainful looks through the halls all day. But that was just due to Crystal snobbishness, since girls obviously shouldn't be getting into fights. Not prestigious girls, anyways. But when did Serah care about opinions? Since never. But .. 'poor dear?'
"That's quite the horrified expression. It's worse than I think, I suppose. I guess you could ..." She seemed to think for a moment, her hand to her chin in a thoughtful gesture before looking up at the other. ".. a gang fight, I guess? I was let off easy though." Serah said, smiling. "What are you doing here..? I dont think I know you personally but I've been admiring your gorgeous hair in the hallways." She pointed to the braid and hair color.. even though her own hair was outrageously pink.

"A gang fight?" she gasped, her eyes widening a bit as she did so. That was.. horrifying. She had no idea there were gangs around the school. She'd thought that Crystal Academy was far better than Meadowview in that regard, especially since it was restricted only to girls. She, however, didn't want to insult the girl any further by drawing attention to something that she may have felt self conscious about so she simply cleared her throat and looked away from the few bandages on her body.
"My hair?" a pleased smile and a small blush lit her cheeks as she stole a shy glance at the girl next to her. She reached up to touch her braid, brushing her fingers over it. "Yours is certainly very.. bright," she managed, not one to be very fond of bright colors herself, but she did say it with a smile in an attempt to pass it off as a compliment. She offered her hand to the other, careful not to tip over any of her books as she did so. "I'm Khalla Anselm."
She glanced over at the work the girl was doing, then down at her own books. "I'm here to work on some extra credit assignments I took on," she laughed pleasantly at this, using her non-outstretched hand to flip open the first book, "you can never have too much extra credit after all."

Serah looked up, wondering if she should style her hair in a braid sometime. Although with it's curly features, Serah wasnt sure if she could easily. "So I've been told often." Serah playfully held up a bright strand of hair, fingering it, thinking that, at least in a crowd, she would be easy to find? The only downfall of bright hair was accessorizing and buying clothes that actually suited her. That was the hardest part.
"I'm Serah Eos. Nice to meet you, Khalla." Serah flashed a bright smile, standing up to shake the other's hand in a gentle manner.
"Oh.. Extra credit? You're quite the overachiever. Right now, I'm just doing all I can to make up for the work I've missed." She gestured to the messy papers, one could recognize these as the assignments they had last week. She released Kahlla's hand to sit back down on the desk, resuming her past activity of idly holding a pencil in hand.
"It's surprising though. Even though most of the girls have already left, you're here doing extra credit. Don't you do good enough in classes that you don't need it?" Serah asked, tipping her head. Perhaps, if the other was smart, she could ask her for homework help~ Woo-hoo!

"Nice to meet you as well," she returned, shaking her hand delicately before dropping it and returning her own to her desk. With both free, she turned her attention briefly to the book she'd opened, leafing through to a tabbed page and scanning the content. As Serah mentiond missing assignments though, her attention was drawn once again to the papers on her desk, and she shifted to lean a little over in her seat to see what she was doing.
"You were out a long time with all these wounds, weren't you?" A frown formed on her lips, worry and sympathy pouring over her features. "Here, let me help you," she said finally, twisting her desk and scooting it closer. It made an awful noise as the legs grated against the floor, but Khalla didn't particularly think any of the teachers were going to come in and check - or even mind if they did.
Once her desk was side-by-side with Serah's, she simply smiled. "Oh, well, I do just fine in class, but you never know when you could get sick or something," her eyes briefly glanced over the wounds on Serah's body and she reinforced her smile, "always good to be ahead of the game, right?" She moved the book she had open off of her desk and deposited it with the rest of her forgotten extra work, instead plucking up her pencil and looking down at the work on Serah's desk instead. "So what have we got here?"

"Quite awhile." Serah agreed, wondering what Khalla felt sympathy for a stranger she didn't even know. Well, the sincere people were always rare in this world. Serah might as well enjoy it while she could. It wasn't often someone helped her out of kindness after all. She scooted herself closer to Khalla as well, their desks tilted side-by-side. A smile crossed her features, there were still nice people in Crystal Academy. It wasn't as full of snobs as she thought there was. or perhaps, there were more kind people than she thought there would be.
"That's true. Smart idea. Maybe I should take up extra credit while I'm in school." Serah thought to herself, her pencil tipping on her chin. She was pretty sure this wouldn't be her only absence in school, sadly. Serah was glad to have any help, in any case, since Khalla was here to offer it. Now that they were comfortably next t each other, Serah pulled out her bnny eraser from under a paper, prepared with a pencil and an eraser now.
She pulled out a math worksheet, the worksheet looked like a foreign language to her. Doodles were all over the paper, the workspace was completely blank. Then she pulled out a science worksheet. And a rubric for an essay she was supposed to write. She looked hopelessly down at the pile, giving a sheepish smile to Khalla. "Eh-heh.. It's a lot of work." She said weakly, gesturing to the assignments.
"Perhaps, after this, as thanks, I can treat you to something near here?"

Khalla waited patiently as Serah gathered all her things and got them in order, scooping up her own mechanical pencil as she did so. It was just a plain thing, bought for its usefulness as opposed to its appearance like the pencil and bunny eraser Serah was sporting. She couldn't help the tiny smile at the eraser, however, finding it rather adorable even if she herself didn't particularly sport such things. Serah was adorable, and it was beyond her how she could be a target for a gang fight. That thought started her blood to boiling, though, so she quickly pushed it away and concentrated on the paper Serah had arranged.
"Ahh, that's not so bad," she said with a small nod, glancing up at the clock. They could definitely finish all of her work before their study time was up. Her own extra credit work would have to wait until later, but she could always do that that later, of course, she didn't need to do it here. She glanced over the papers and finally decided to pick up the rubric. She could do math, but she certainly didn't like it, and science was almost just as boring. Essays were fun though! She picked up a spare sheet of paper from her own notebook and set it down just as Serah began to speak.
"I'd like that, actually," she said with a small smile, turning away from what she was reading to look up at the bright-haired girl next to her. She was beginning to feel accomplished in so many ways. She'd helped someone that really needed her, and she'd made a friend in doing so. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar, after all.
Then, of course, she was reminded of the duty she had set out for herself and her eyes returned to the paper. She felt herself falling into a coccoon of content, and she began to scribble almost instantly, inspired. "Well, first of all we need to make an outline.."

Serah had finished the paper quickly thanks to Khalla's excellent tutoring help. In fact, she seemed to make days of lesson fly by in a matter of minutes, telling her what was important and what wasn't. Serah learned far more from Khalla than she did in classes. By the time she finished, it was late afternoon.
With a relieved sigh, she started to gather her stuff in her shoulder bag, looking down at the massive load Khalla had brought in previously. "I'm sorry I distracted you from your work. Do you need me to carry some of those for you?" She said with a touch of regret, knowing that Khalla had other plans than to help some absent girl with her make-up work.
"What would you like for a treat? Perhaps some ice cream with hot fudge on top?" Serah suggested, adjusting the light strap of her shoulder bag. Of course, it just had to be in a shape of a bunny. She had sown it on her own-- when did they sell these cute bags in stores? It seemed as if the bunny motif was common wherever Serah was.

Khalla didn't really mind the fact that she hadn't been able to get her own work done. In fact, she quite enjoyed spending hours helping someone else! That's what she lived to do - help. After all, she'd taken up working at a teen help line just so she could do this very thing every day!
"Oh no, don't worry about it," she replied with a gentle laugh, waving one hand in her direction as if to dismiss the apology. There was really no need, she could do all of this later. "I little help carrying it wouldn't be amiss, though," she admitted, eying the adorable bag that Serah picked up, "I should probably wise up and start carrying a bag myself, come to think of it."
She divided up the books she had brought in with her, finding that the pile was actually quite manageable in two separate ones. She grabbed the few books from one into her arms as she slid out of her desk, turning to look at Serah as she offered icecream. "Oh, I'd absolutely adore that, though I'd prefer butterscotch to fudge." She smiled at the thought and turned towards the doorway, "there's a little place just down the road from school, actually. I think they put it there to lure in all the students." She paused to wait for Serah at the doorway, glancing back over her shoulder.

"Butterscoth it is. I think I know the place you're talking about. Let's go!" Serah trotted after Khalla, holding the books in her hands with a bright smile. She started to walk along the hallways with the other, exiting out of the now-empty school.
"I definitely think I'm going for the fried banana delight. They give a huge serving and it's delicious!" Form Serah's excited talk, one could deduct that she was a huge fan of sweets. The two girls exited the school campus with a pile of books in hand. Thank god it was a short walk, at least? Serah wasnt sure how far she could go holding these books. She wasn't a weak little girl but she wasn't that strong either. At least, not physically.

Khalla laughed as she exclaimed over the fried banana delight, hoisting her books up closer to her body. She wasn't one for eating a lot of sweets, but she did enjoy the occasional treat now and then. It was probably more to do with the fact that she simply didn't have the time to indulge in anything else. That was also probably why she didn't seem to be having any issues carrying the stack of books in her arms - she was often used to much larger!
"That sounds delightful," she replied, smiling as she recounted the day in her head. Sure, she hadn't accomplished much for herself, but in the end she really wasn't a self-centered person. Her whole life revolved around helping others and that was what made the day so amazing! She walked alongside Serah as they exited the room and began down the long hallway towards the exit of the Academy. It was nice, sometimes, to be rewarded for her help - even if she was considering her new friend, and not the ice cream, the real reward.
