Rory sighed softly, one arm around Lynn and the other dangling over the edge of the couch. He was dimly aware the person with him wasn't Lee and that he was not in his bed. Tilting his head back, he called sleepily, still only partially awake, something in didikai that might've been "Mum, Kendra's stealin' me covers again."

How oddly peaceful a night the little girl had had... One would think being abandoned would be cause for insomnia or horrible nightmares, but not tonight. Perhaps it was the bunny plush she was still clinging to for dear life, or perhaps this home was just relaxing and welcoming. Chances were, it was her new mattress, Rory, that had kept her so comfortable. Still sprawled out on the boy's chest, Lynn murmured something softly as Rory spoke, not awake yet herself. It had been a long night, and even with the nap she'd taken before bedtime, it still wasn't enough for the exhausted toddler.

Rory wriggled around under the girl, still wondering why his mum hadn't shooed his sister away in his sleep-addled near-waking. "Mum, come get Kendra," he called again, louder this time, pushing at the little girl on him.

Lynn's eyes fluttered open at being pushed at, her eyes taking a moment to adjust to the morning light, a few seconds passing before she was able to realize it was Rory nudging at her. He didn't want her here? Where was here, again? Oh, this wasn't her home at all. It looked strange, smelled strange, felt strange. When was she going home? And why was Rory trying to push her away? So, her mama didn't want her, and now Rory, too? Whimpering a bit, the little girl sat up, most of her weight crushing Rory's organs before she plopped off of him and waddled off, in search of the front door.
Lee, a few rooms away, heard Rory's voice from out in the den, cocking an eyebrow as she sat up in bed. Kendra was here? Where was Lynn? And why did he think his mom was here? Grumbling a bit, she rolled over, clinging to the sheets surrounding her and burying herself in blankets, not intending to fall back asleep, but not planning on staying awake, either.

Rory grunted as his stomach was sat on and woke up, sitting up himself and rubbing at his face. He looked over to see a toddler heading for their door and a moment later remembered the previous day. Standing up, after a brief check that, yes, he did indeed have pants on, he went after Lynn and scooped her up into his arms. "Good morn, lass. Why ain't you wi' Lee, eh?"

Lynn wiggled in his arms, trying to get herself free so she could leave. Rory didn't like her. That meant, of course, that she could no longer like him. "Leggo," the small child huffed, pathetically trying to pry the boy's arms away. She was going home now, she'd find it on her own. She didn't need these people.

"Aw, hey. What's wrong, Lynn?" Rory asked, a little hurt that she was trying to squirm free. He carried her back toward the bedroom.

Lynn didn't answer his question, only kicking a bit more as she was carried along. "Mmm!" was the only sound that came from the toddler, who was, apparently, about to have a tantrum.
Lee could hear the two coming and simply sighed, rolling on her side to face away from the door, planning to pretend she was asleep for as long as she could. Dealing with children this early in the morning? This day wasn't going to be a pleasant one, Lee could already see that.

Rory made soothing noises to the little girl, trying to calm her down. He figured she maybe had a bad dream or woke up scared in their home. Sitting on the bed and keeping an arm around the child, he started poking Lee's bottom. "Wake up, wife. Your little room mate got away from you."

Lynn's fits turned into quiet whimpers as Rory continued to be nice. So he did want her around? Then he just didn't want her sleeping with him? Why not? Calming, the little girl squeezed her eyes shut as she grabbed Rory's chest and attempted a hug, finding her little arms were just barely too short for it to work.
Lee just swatted Rory's hand away, groaning a bit before pulling the covers over her head.

Rory rubbed the little girl's back, his focus still mostly on pestering his wife. "Oi, Lee. Wake up. You're supposed t' be helpin' look after th' kid. I need you t' keep an eye on her so's I can make brekkie."

Lee huffed a bit before rolling on her back, keeping her eyes closed to avoid looking at either Rory or Lynn. "Fine..." It really was too early to be watching after a kid, and she likely wouldn't make reliable supervision for the girl. At the moment, however, all she cared about was what was for breakfast.
Lynn peered up at Rory, apparently thinking the same thing. Through slight sniffles, the little girl was able to ask, "Wha's for breakfuss?" And why did Rory always do the cooking? Lee was supposed to do that, right? What exactly did Lee do here? How odd this couple was...

Rory leaned over and kissed the top of Lee's head, figuring she wouldn't want facey-nuzzles till after he'd shaved anyway. Looking down at Lynn, he smiled a bit. "How does waffles sound?"

Lynn fidgeted with her shirt, pulling at the ends of it as she avoided looking at anyone. "Do you gots syrups?" She wasn't afraid to be demanding, even if she was uncomfortable with these strangers, even if she felt out of place right now. She wasn't quite ready to squirm off of Rory just yet, and continued to cling to him until she absolutely had to let him go.
Lee sighed and sat up, walking toward the bathroom to brush her teeth and get away from Lynn. Why did that kid have to be the first person she saw today? She grumbled a bit, but would do her part to look after the girl while she was here, if only to keep Rory from doing all the work.
