Ephia smiled at her golden queen who was finishing up drying her glowing hide under the warm sun. The day was beautiful with it's blue skies. There were hardly any clouds in sight and the temperature was just right. It was a perfect day to just relax and enjoy life. She had been pouring over hides so much that she had forgotten what fun it was to just lay around and not be rubbing exhausted eyes.

Golden wings were spread open, allowing the hide between her pinions to dry as well. In fact, the wings were quite dry already, an hour and a half of basking in the sun had made sure of that, the queen was just far too comfortable to move at that point. It wasn't the most regal of positions so she had it in her mind, should anyone ask, she would just tell them she was drying off.

Sitting on a small boulder by the edge of the water, Ephia looked into the gentle moving liquid, pushing a stray lock of ebony hair out of her eyes in the process. The sun's light reflected harshly on the surface causing the Weyrwoman to look away and back to Ariath. She couldn't help but notice the illustrious glow her dragon was getting. It wouldn't be too long now until Ariath rose again. This was a flight though that Ephia was not looking forward to. M'xan was looking far too determined and Enelth had been keeping a very close eye on the young queen since she fist started showing signs of nearing a flight. As much as she dreaded the thought of the flight, she knew it was not something she could stop from happening. Ariath would rise, and one dragon would catch her. Ephia just hoped Tallith was able to do it again.

Hopping off the rock Ephia fixed the pants she wore. A gown was certainly not something to wear when bathing and oiling a dragon so Ephia donned one of her many riding outfits. The pants were of a light tan and were tucked into boots of a deep brown hide. Her shirt was not a traditional shirt for flight. In fact, she never really ever wore it at anytime except when bathing Ariath. It's short sleeves was perfect and didn't leave her worrying about getitng her sleeves wet and it's white material was nice on warm days. The laces in the front were done up loosely, but enough that she didn't reveal too much of herself. Like all riders, nudity wasn't a huge issue, but she wasn't about to go around showing herself off to every passerby.

Walking up to the golden beauty Ephia mentally aroused her queen. 'Love, it's time for some oiling. I don't need your hide drying out from that bath and with the way you sun bathe it won't take long.' She chuckled.

Ariath sleepily opened an eye to look at her rider but moved her body enough so that she could fully extend the closest wing to the Weyrwoman. Ephia just shook her head. 'Now, you're being just a tad lazy today.'

Ariath closed her eye. I am allowed to be.

Ephia just chuckled again before opening the oil and beginning to apply it to the honey hued hide.

After her brief, and mostly uneventful walk down from the Weyr ridges towards the lowlands (and subsequently, back up again), the resident Weyr brooder found herself pacing up the path leading from the Weyr bowl. Despite all the walking, she moved with a sort of determined elegance that most women could surmise, her brow screwed in a thinking position and dark skin glowing from all the sunlight in the sky. She was thinking about taking a trip down to see Araye, whom she hadn't seen in quite some time despite living in the same vicinity of one another. It wasn't that she was worried, but she did feel responsible for making sure she wasn't causing problems.

And she would have continued that merry way, had she not happened to notice the glint of gold at the far corner of the bowl, where some of the larger lakes pooled in from the outside world. The great gold queen lay stretched out in what looked to be a drying position, and Ephia was moving about the creature with a look of serenity. As if catching her thoughts, Moth decided to make herself known to be awake from somewhere in the bowl.

I need oiling soon, Love. She rumbled.

Farin chuckled, and rubbed her chin slightly, a small smile crossing her serious face. Her blonde hair shifted, and she decided to pay a visit to Ephia. No doubt Moth would say something to Ariath should she attempt to slip away.

I have already told her. Moth did a dragon's version of a giggle from some far of ledge, and she felt a pull which told her Moth had drifted back into her slumber.

The woman crossed the small thatch of grass, her leather jacket slightly flapping. She'd still not yet worn her arms through the jacket, instead choosing to cross them over her pale purple blouse and let the sleeves dangle behind her. Her firelizards were none the complaining, for they'd dubbed these little flapping holes to be their new sleeping dens.

The greenrider moved to the water's edge and stopped, sitting down on the rock, and pulling off her boots. Her feet were desperately tired from walking, and with a sigh, she flopped them into the water and curled forward, her blonde hair pushing over her shoulders. "Ariath looks good after carrying those eggs." Farin remarked from the water, pushing one of the stones with her bare toes.

Tallith had been sunning himself on the ledge of his weyr, head on the verge of the platform, tail hanging over the edge and wings slightly extended. His mouth parted, a glimmer of teeth catching the sunlight as his rider appeared from his quarters, cursing over the egg that had mysteriously appeared in his weyr.

"I don't understand it Tallie, most people know my dislike for those minature manaces." He was talking about the firelizards of which Tallith shared his irrtation. The little things had a habit of buzzing around his nose like unwanted flies. The dragon however gave a deep sigh and curved back his head, eyes whirling in his rider's direction.

Then give it to someone who will appreciate it. His dragon said, stretching his wings and shifting his weight.

"That's probably for the best." L'cian agreed with a sigh of his own, moving to scratch the eyeridge that was offered to him. "I have to check on the Wings today, fall will be soon and I need to check and make sure all of the able dragons are in fighting order." He smiled at his dragons appreciative rumble, "looking forward to leading your own wing my old friend?"

We will fly well, my wings are strong.

"Of course! But save your strength, you'll need it."

Sooner than you realise. His dragon raised his head and trumpeted his excitement, standing up on his four limbs to gaze down towards the Weyr bowl.

"What's that supposed to mean?" L'cian queried with a quirk of an eyebrow.

Let us visit the water. Tallith replied, pointedly ignoring his question.

"You wish to bathe?"

Our Queens are there. Tallith said, raising a foreleg for L'cian to mount on, They bathe, they shine.

With a chuckle, the Weyrleader vaulted up onto the brown's great shoulders, settling himself just in time. His great beast leapt upwards, powerful wings sweeping down as they became airborne. Then together they whirled lazily upon the thermals, pinions outstretched as the brown came to circle the bowl, bugling happily to the queens below.

The landing was of perfect precision, a skill which the brown was very much eager to show off, especially in front of his Queen -- especially when she shone so beautifully. His eyes whirled, perhaps with the tiniest twinge of purple as he waited for L'cian to dismount.

"You're looking well today Ephia." He spoke as he slid down the great brown shoulder, "Ariath too." It was then that he became aware of another, a green rider he hadn't seen for a while, not since that feline hunt all that time ago. If he remembered rightly she was the rider of a graceful and agile green. Her name?

"Forgive me," he said to the other rider, "but I seem to have misplaced your name." He rubbed sheepishly at the back of his neck with one hand, rolling his eyes at Tallith's flirtacious behaviour as he practically danced about by the water's edge.
