I don't think it's a good thing to do in all honesty. Of course, at times, I become a hypocrit. I don't look down on those who do it, but it really isn't a good idea. If you (or anyone you know) does it regularly, try to help them both over come the addiction (if there is one) and the depression that might be causing it. Don't really know what else to say...

I was once so depressed I was thinking about doing...but then I thought God would not wan't me to do somthing like that to myself..so no I think it's awful. it's not a good thing to do and i'm glad I never did it..because it's like you are destroying your self and that's what the devil wants you to do.

Hmm this is an interesting subject because its such a common problem these days.. needless to say its a bad thing bad people arent bad because the do it.. i have done it before but it was because i was in deep emotional hurt and was trying to distract myself.. i believe that sometimes people cut themselves because of emotional hurt but sometimes when they get used to the pain it can sometimes almost be an addiction cause they get a kind of rush from it.. also sometimes its attention seeking but personally i dont think it is a common thing for it to be attention seeking

alot of my friends cut or have started coz their going through GCSE's. my ex-boyfriend is trying really hard to stop so I'm starting up a band to help his self-esteem, thats all cutting really is; low self-esteem. if anyone doe's cut I suggest you do something to put your self-esteem up and you'll find less and less reasons to cut.

it is a good idea it is a temptation to some but when you think about it you are giving satin power over youi have never done it and hopefully never will god is my everything i don't like to disappoint him. when i sin ask his forgivness, if it is bad i used to slap myself but he doesn't want me to be punished he wants me to learn from my mistakes.

I got this friend thats got a few tricks that stopped him cutting. if it is the motion then cover your arm with playdough and cut that, if it's the blood take a wax crayon and rub it really hard on a peice of paper coz then it looks like blood. or if your generally angery throw things against walls.

hey guys, it's been a while...
i think that hurting yourself in anyway is definitely not of God. He calls us His temple, why would we want to harm it? another thing is that cutting one's self is in a way demonic. It's like opening a way for Satan to come in.
i dunno... it's wrong... that i know...
but it's hard to resist the temptation. in the end it's worth it though.

I believe that cutting is one's own choice. I am not saying it is right, but people were crreated with free will and hence they can do what they feel will help them. However, there is always the choice of talking to someone over cutting one's self.

Personally, I have been so depressed lately that I have thought about it, but I seriously could never do it to myself. I say this not because I am afraid, but because it is selfish and childish.

I started cutting myself when I was six, and I can't stop now, even though I want to. I'm 15 now, and I have all these little scars on my arms. It really sucks, so don't start.

well, cutting yourself can never lead to good things, and looking at it from a biblical perspective, it's hurting your body, your temple. a big part of being one w/ god (as christians should strive to be) is maintaining control over your body and worldly/fleshly desires b/c the spirit is what we should answer to, not our bodily wants and desires. let's look at over eating as an example. i have a tendency to eat too much. it's obviously not good for me. it brings way more calories into my body than it's really made to deal w/, plus i might get a bellyache and other unpleasant stuff. now, does god want me to eat too much? the obvious answer is no. it's not good for me, plus it causes me pain. he wants me to take care of my body, b/c he gave it to me and made me in his image. true, he will always view me as his beautiful creation (i don't always feel that way, but that's entirely beside the point), but i still need to take care of this creation of his. now, relate that to cutting. it's not good for you b/c it can be a doorway for bacterial infection, not to mention the emotional and psychological downsides to it. you might become dependent on the cutting in tough times when you need to be dependent on god and his healing powers (they're better than anything we could possibly do as humans). if you lean on god and ask him to help you get through this, then you could grow SO MUCH spiritually. however, it might still be a good idea to see a doctor though (god put the doctor there for a reason, so going to a doctor wouldn't be a way around going to god). well, that took a lot of writing to get to, but i hope you see my point.
