The day......it was somehow......taunting Azizi. It had been his first outing away from the depths of the jungle, and he'd seen nothing of the.....what was the word? Creatures. In the deep jungle, he had spoken a different language then the rest of the savannah, as he had discovered when a visitor wandered into his family's territory in the deep jungle. His eyes flicked back and forth, the neon colors glimmering brightly. He was trying to adjust his thinking to the other language, but it was causing some problems, and he mumbled softly to himself.
"Hmm...." His dark lips puckered, and he daintily made his way through the tall grass, avoiding any obstacles in his way, no matter how small and insignificant. He had prided himself in his soft, dark coat, and he didn't want dirt to tarnish it. Always look your best, that was the standard he kept himself to at all times. He kept on, trotting in whatever direction lay ahead of him, not really caring where it took him. He just wanted something different, something new.

Talayeh didn’t avoid dirt. She simply glared at it and expected it to get the ******** out of her way. It could either stay there, or not. It made no difference to her. It would all end the same way, in her opinion. Unfortunately, this was also her opinion of sunlight, which was exactly why she was stubbornly sitting out in full blast of the beams. Her dark coat was like a sponge for heat, with the little wings glittering in the light. But that didn’t matter. If she left for the shade, that was as good as admitting defeat!
…
Admittedly, when she really thought about it, she didn’t know what she was admitting defeat to. The sunbeams? She snorted at her own stubbornness and lazily made her way towards the shade, deciding that, if she had to broil, she might as well broil in th… wait. What was that? She stopped in her tracks and the fur along her neck and back started to rise up slowly. Still fairly young, she retained a hint of the mane of a cheetah cub, which looked pretty damn impressive. But that didn’t change the fact that the… the thing was still there!
Tal’s little staring contest with the sun had ruined her vision, at least temporarily; all she saw was a brightly colored… thing venturing from the shadows. It looked like a butterfly, but it sure as Hell didn’t move like one. Fighting down a cheetah’s normal instinct----which was to run as far away as fast as possible---Tal simply barked out a warning to the Thing in the Shadows. “Stop! You’re o…” oh wait. She had almost forgotten… they weren’t in Duma’Chama lands any more. She had left those behind a while back. She recovered quickly. “W… Well, you just stop there!”

What was this now? Like a small bird, the words seemed to simply flutter by Azizi's fluffy ears, grazing by before making any impact at all. His mixed neon eyes lazily rolled over to where it had come from, a wicked grin spreading across his face. His eyes were locked onto the slinky black figure that had called out to him, with such a sweet voice. It would be his first.....how would one say it? Ah, yes. Encounter with a creature in the outside world. And just his luck, it was female. Such delicate little things, they were. So soft, so......lovable. But he wasn't one to be vulgar at first meetings, so the thoughts barely lingered.
"I am afraid..." his deep accent coated his voice, and Azizi slowly slinked towards the other black cheetah. "That you have made an unreasonable request, mon chou." He tried his best to make nice, as it was a new environment, and change was good. For now. He wanted to play nice for awhile, at least until he could regain contact with the servant he had left in his family lands in the jungle. Then he could feel like himself again, and not need to hide behind this kind little mask.

In Tal’s world, things were simple. When she yelled at someone or something, they moved, either out of fear or respect. And the Thing in the Shadows was just not Doing It Right. Tal’s ears pressed back against her skull at the unfamiliar words, trying to puzzle them out. “Hey! I am no man’s chew!” she spat back, annoyed at what she saw as a lack of respect. The sun’s damage to her eyes wore off slowly and, eventually, the moving shape resolved itself into that of another cheetah. Oh… Tal’s hackles went down gradually because cheetahs, almost by definition, were good. Even if they spoke funny and had strange designs on their faces. Huh, well… Tal had, more or less, prepared herself for an encounter with some other sort of feline. The appearance of a cheetah surprised her a little. It was a bit like running towards the gates of an enemy town with a battering ram and then finding the gates suddenly open.
“Who are you?” she eventually settled for, since it seemed like a good starting point.

He raised a brow to the other cheetah, thinking for a brief moment that she might very well be insane. It wouldn't be a first, as Azizi's own brother was more than a bit off-his-rocker, but he would never expect it of a female. "You are quite the bossy little thing, hm?" He grinned, his white teeth almost glowing against his dark fur. He had to admit, he liked her spunk. Not many would address him in such a manner, for one reason or another.
"Azizi." There was a slight raspyness in his voice as he uttered his name. "And what, little bird, is your title?" His language skills still weren't at their best, and he meant to say name, but he thought nothing of the difference in the meaning of the two words, even though they were fairly different. "I don't suppose you live around here?" He raised his eyebrows, his bi-colored eyes cool and collected. "I wonder if all the females in this area have as much gall as you." He let out a laugh, a rare thing for Azizi, but he was, in fact, quite enjoying this so far.

“I am not bossy! You take that back right now!” Tal ordered, clearly not familiar with the phrase ‘irony’. Cheetah or not, she wasn’t entirely sure she liked this strange male. There was just something about him that set her teeth on edge. Actually, she could put her paw on exactly what that ‘something’ was: he hadn’t apologized for frightening her. Oh, and he also didn’t seem the least bit intimidated by her, which was just unfamiliar.
“My title? I’m Talayeh, Kibibi of Duma’Chama,” she said, using her full title for once. It felt unfamiliar to her, which suited her just fine. It wasn’t like she had much use for it anyway. Since she felt that anyone who was anyone would clearly be familiar with the Duma’chama, she glared at Azizi. “And don’t you dare tell me that this is highly uncheetah-lady-like behavior. I get enough of that from my uncle. If you’re looking for the Duma’chama, it’s over that way for a few days.” She accented her words with a slight nod over the horizon.
Gall? Well, she couldn’t help him there either. She frowned a bit before shrugging. “No. The only other girls I know are my sister, Little Miss Perfect Princess, Mom, who is always waiting for father to come back, and… let’s see… Naddie, who is a total wreck all the time, and her daughters, who are just boring.” Yep. Tal had something to say about everyone and she would say it loudly too.

"I see, how...disappointing." He stumbled trying to find the last word in his mind, but it only added greater effect to what he was saying. He flicked his tail, rolling his eyes over the female's face; she looked agitated. Smiling, Azizi found it quite humorous. He had never taken females seriously, as they usually don't have the physical girth to take him on, and unless they were both sophisticated and softspoken, he didn't think they were worth much attention.
But for some odd reason, he was fascinated by this girl. It was probably because she wasn't afraid to speak her mind, a quality that could prove to be positive, if kept in check. "I've never heard of the Duma'Chama." His 'h' sounded more like a 'u', and he titled his head, almost snobbishly. He couldn't say that he was familiar with many other prides and such, but if they were really something special, he would have heard about them.

He had… never heard of the Duma’chama? Talayeh had always looked forward to a time when she’d be able to say the place of her birth and have others say ‘where’s that?’ but now that it was actually happening, it was almost insulting. Almost. All in all, it was a peculiarly ambivalent feeling. On one paw, she was… well, she was Kibibi of the Duma’Chama. On the other paw, she didn’t want to be. On the third paw, she was less than a few days away from the coalition. On the fourth paw, that merely settled what she had already suspected of her coalition: that it really wasn’t that important in the big picture.
The dark cheetah shrugged eventually, going on to say, “It’s not much. My mother is a seer and she saw a future in which cheetahs were extinct. So she decided to go on ahead and form a cheetah paradise or at least a place for cheetahs to meet other cheetahs so they can make pweshus widdle purebreds. It’s very dull. You should be glad you’ve never heard of it. I’m almost sorry to rob you of that.”
She wasn't quite sure what to make of this other cheetah. He talked funny. He acted strangely. And there was that almost snobbish way he said 'duma'chama' as if he didn't think much of the coalition. Of course, Tal didn't think much of it later, but she had the right. She had lived there.
