Do you remember the first time you listened to System?
I do! I was at a lame a** party and I thiefed the boom box and went into a corner to listen to 89X (the local new rock radio station). Chop Suey! came on. I had been hearing about System for a while from I guy I was friends with on another anime forum but up until this point, I hadn't heard them yet. I was like, "Holy crap, that guy can talk fast!" I was amazed and I loved it! The bitches at the party theifed the radio back before the song was over so they could listen to oldies. Losers. Worst party I've ever been to. ANYWAY, I got Toxicity for Chistmas that year, and as soon as I heard "I BUY MY CRACK, I SMACK MY b***h RIGHT HERE IN HOLLYWOOD," in Prison Song, I was in love. (I remember getting the same shiver down my spine when I first listened to Kill Rock n' Roll) That was the first time I had ever heard crack and b***h used in the same sentence in a song. Probably the first time I had ever heard crack used in a song at all. System was the first (and only!) metal band I've ever been into at all. It wasn't until after the release of Mezmerize that I got with it and bought the self-titled album and Steal This Album!, but ever since then, I've been an addict! heart

Well, I really couldn't tell you... I do remember that my older brother used to go to their concerts all the time... This was back before they even had an album out. He would talk about them, but I didn't really know how good they were until their first album came out... I was in love the first time I heard DDEVIL. They've been my favorite band since.

I don't really remember. But I do know I heard Toxicity and Chop Suey! because of my brother. I used to ask him to put on the song about 'angels deserving to die' and all. 3nodding

I'm quite sad to admit that my first was BYOB. Of course, It was the time I stayed up till 12.05 with my friend on MSN, and I was extremely hyper on a box of 'Jumbo Pocky' It's a novelty sized box. Tasty, yet quite hyper-ifying.
So my friend asks me, 'Have you ever heard of System Of A Down?' so, being the stupy poo I was then I said, 'No, I've heard about them but I've never really heard them.'
So, he sent me BYOB. Let me tell you the truth, the first time I heard it...
...I laughed. I laughed so hard I neary pissed myself laughing. I soon labeled it, 'The Screamy Song'. Ever since, my friend and I refer to it as 'screamy' every now-and-then.
So after listening to BYOB after a while, it lost it's humour and I soon understood it. I kind of liked it and asked for the whole cd. He sent it and I listened to it alot. THen as a gist, I got all the cd's (burned... I feel so guilty). Then, I listened to them all, blah blah blah, and I got Hypnotize (after being extremely excited) and I got mezmerize. I'm eventually going to get all the cd's in the original album things, but my allowance isn't really forgiving...
T.T
It's my sad sob-story. xD

Ah... Damn it... Well I guess it was Chop Suey which was put on to me because of my freind. He said I should listen to them so... I did. Loved it, then loved them for Aerials. I liked softer rock back then. How naive I was. xd Rammstein and SOAD all day now!

I was in fourth grade and I still liked pop music. My parents like the kind of "metal" stuff, but it's kinda more alternative... Ah, well, I can't really explain both of their tastes in music. I heard Chop Suey! (Oh come on, I was in fourth grade! Chop Suey! was just released to the public and stuff, so...) and I thought, "Wow. He talks pretty fast. That's so cool." I listened to the song more often and I was learning the lyrics and going, "Wooooow. Angels! But why do they deserve to die, and I kinda wanna cheer him up." Seriously. I was falling in love with the song, and I kept denying it by listening to Britney Spears. I heard Toxicity and Aerials... and soon, I was secretly a System of a Down fan. My friend at the time, Jessica, would go, "Music like that makes people into murderers!" I said I'd stop listening, but I didn't. One day, I saw the Chop Suey! video. I never knew that I was going to think that guy with tattoos and crowd-surfed was going to be the sexiest thing ever next to the bald guy who made funny faces.
Sorry. Text wall.

I was into pop, too, for a real long time... gonk I had a thing for CS! as well. 3nodding And you're right, back when I was younger, I was like: "I'll never think a guy that's way older than me is sexy. Blah. Gross." You know? xd

I do! My brother had just bought "toxicity" and refused to let me listen to it. I waited til he fell asleep and stole it from him (just like my old annoying little sister self) and listened to it under the covers. Been in love ever since! blaugh

It's all my friends fault. stare Back in 2003 or something, she threw her headphones at me and ordered me to listen to The Prison Song. Then I had to burn her cd. Ha.

I first got into System right after Toxicity was released. I was at a friend's house and he said someone burned him a copy of a "weird CD". We listened to it, and it was Toxicity. XD
I can mostly remember hearing Forest, Bounce, and Science, but I was instantly in love. Now they are my favorite band and I consider myself the most hardcore fan in my entire High School. >D
Oh, by the way, where do you live Dark N? 89X is also a local new rock station around here. o__o

Well, when I was in sixth (maybe fifth, it was 2001/2) I was a Dance Dance Revolution fanatic. So I was downloading some songs for Stepmania (DDR for computer), and I saw "CHOP SUEY!!!!" - it sounded interesting, so I downloaded it and hated the steps but loved the song! I downloaded Prison Song, got Toxicity then S/T - and WALLA!
Proud to say that System of a Down are one of the threebands that turned me over to rock music that I still love today (the other two are Tsunami Bomb, and the White Stripes)

The first song that I heard was Chop Suey when I was looking at random Anime Music Videos... At the time I was looking for new bands to listen to so I looked'em up. I was kinda unimpressed at first, but after hearing Sugar I got hooked.

A few days after I got Toxicity I went to my cousin's house and we had a little family gathering thing. I was listening to it on my CD player and my cousin was like, "Whatcha listening to?" And I told her "System of a Down" and she was like, "Hey, that's the band with the guy with the crazy beard!" or something. xd
I live in Michigan, near Detroit.
