Avvie stood beneath a tree outside Barren Pines. The tree was a giant maple tree with thick bendy branches. It's colorful leaves fluttered beautifully in the wind. Avalon's 3/4 sleeved pink t-shirt billowed in the breeze along with her plaid uniform skirt. Her hair was firm to her scalp in high twin buns, adorned with flower clips.
The fourteen-year-old tried tossing a rope over one of the branches; but it just slid off and slumped back to the ground. Beside Avalon's feet was a 2/4 board and another rope that matched the one that the girl attempted to get over the branch. But to no avail... She was just to short and did not have enough 'oomph' to get the cord over the tree's arm.
"... I just want to swing..." Avvie sulked roughing her sneakered foot across the ground, discouraged.

When she was able to get out of her uniform, Yvette did just that. Having little to nothing planned for the afternoon, she decided to get out of her stuffy school uniform and to dress up in one of her concoctions. Today's menu consisted of a deep magenta sleeveless shirt with pink downy-like feathers around the neck and black slacks. Knowing how to accessorize, she also wore a few loose bracelets of various warm colors about her wrists.
In such an outfit, she seemed out of place on the school campus, and even when off the campus around some of the larger trees nearby, she found someone trying to do something. Yvette could not quite tell what exactly, but this girl was doing something. Curious and eager to help, she wandered over. It was when she got closer that she recognized the girl.
Her voice was never very loud, but she offered in a relatively tiny voice "Did you need help with something?" She hadn't quite heard the comment about a swing, but her eyes took in the objects nearby and began to come up with various ideas as to what they could be used for.

Avvie whirled around and took in the appearance of the girl that approached her. This girl truly gave the artist an inkling to jet upstairs and set to work on a sculpture of a bird. The thought made Avalon giggle a little.
She had seen this girl about campus before... but she could not quite put her finger on the girl's name. Also, Avalon darn forgot to bring along her markers. Where were those when a new face arrived and she needed one? Oh well...
"I am trying to get this..." Avalon held the rope end for the girl to see. ".... To go over..." She pointed up into the tree. ".... That branch!" Avvie whined.

She was curious to the reasoning, but she figured it would not be appropriate to ask. Approaching a bit closer, she took the end of rope from Avalon's hand. Her actions were not harsh or snatching, but rather quite gentle and caring.
"I... I could try climbing up the tree to get it over. Do you think that would work?"
For a moment, her deep purple eyes glanced down to her shoes, noting that they really weren't meant for climbing. Her clothing also wasn't exactly built for it as well, since her slacks weren't made of durable cloth like denim and probably would rip pretty easily. Yvette knew that she could easily fix this problem should it occur by sewing up the tears, or by even making a new pair of slacks. Slacks weren't that difficult to make. It was just a pity to use a piece of clothing so little before it got scrapped. Maybe she could use the remaining cloth to make some sort of cute accessory.
Suddenly realizing that she had mentally drifted somewhere, she directed her attention back to the other girl. She offered a smile, hoping her lack of attentiveness went unnoticed.

Avvie let the rope go when Yvette grabbed it. She didn't mind. She looked Yvette up and down, and then the tree, then back to Yvette.
"Can you climb trees?" The rose-haired girl asked.
Tree climbing definitely was not her own forte. Being chocked up in her house all day as a child, studying and creating, Avalon had just never learned to climb a tree. She'd never learned to ride a bike or swim for that matter.... oh, she lead a sad and pathetic childhood, but her great grades and amazing art had brought her the grand opportunity to attend Barren Pines. So, her lacking in basic skills could not be all bad, could it?
"If you can climb up there, I think it just may work." Avvie bent down and grabbed the second rope.
"While you are there, would you mind bringing this rope up too?" Avalon cocked her head to the side sweetly.

"I can try..." she admitted sheepishly. "I think I'll need a boost though, if you don't mind..."
In an attempt to get the girl to help her, she walked closer to the tree base and laced her fingers together slightly. She left her palms apart and open, making a bit of a flat base which Yvette could easily use to step on and get a bit of a boost.
"If you put your hands like this, I can lean against the tree and get a bit of a boost to help me up." The dark-haired girl took up the second rope and nodded her head, signaling she was ready to give this a try.

"Uh... K." Was the only response Avalon gave before shuffling over to the tree trunk and mimicking exactly was Yvette just did.
She laced her fingers together. Set herself to support the weight of the other girl, who probably near weighed the same as Avalon herself, and waited for Yvette's foot. Could Avalon even support her? She had no idea, this technique was completely new to her should have never tried this.
"Is this right?" Avvie asked.

"Oh, yes!" her tiny voice squeaked out. It was almost like the sound of a mouse. She then promptly tucked the ropes, embarrassingly enough, down her pants slightly. These pants had no pockets, and there was no way she'd be able to hold onto the ropes while her fingers were concentrating on holding tight to the tree. Her cheeks flushed slightly at doing something so silly.
She glanced up the tree, and found that the first branch was actually a pretty decent way up. Not out of reach, but it had to be at least 8 or so feet up.
With the ropes hanging loosely from her waistline, she decided to give the girl a slight hint to her stepping up to the boost.
"1......2.......3!" On three, she stepped up to the girl's hand while quickly forcing herself to lean against the tree a bit to alleviate some of the weight from the girl's hand. Oh how Yvette's soft hand clung for dear life. This definitely wasn't something she did very often either.

Avalon couldn't help but giggle as the other girl stuffed the ropes in the waistband of her pants. Avvie mentally kicked herself for not being eight feet tall and capable of just handing Yvette the ropes when she made it to the branch. Of course if she were eight feet tall, she would not be having this issue now, would she? Life is so complicated short...
The wandered thought made Avalon unaware of of Yvette's counting. Three had come far too quickly.
"Wah!" Avalon faulted a little as Yvette stepped down on her hands, but she quickly regained her balance and poised herself even stronger. Hopefully the stumble didn't harm Yvette's climb too much.

Apparently Yvette wasn't the only one guilty of spacing out on occasion. Her current partner's blooper had caused the dark haired girl to lose balance, and when the cat-girl suddenly regained her composure, Yvette was thrust quite quickly into the tree. The girl only narrowly avoided scraping her face against the bark by instead shoving her arm it its place.
She let out a wispy version of a grunt as she felt something tear open. Stupid bark had managed to scrape her forearm slightly. Not wanting Avalon to worry, she leaned into the tree more and attempted to get a better grip before calling down in her quiet voice "Okay, I'm leaning against the tree... now you push up slightly, I think I can almost reach..." She smiled, then looked at the branch. Maybe it wasn't as close as she had made it sound. Oops?

Avalon watched as Yvette clung to the tree for dear life and obliged when Yvette told her to push her up further into the tree. She wasn't sure how high she would be able to lift her, being an artist, she was no weight-lifting body builder, and her scrawny girlie arms were less than defined. But, she tried and got her hands up from her knees to about her belly-button. Finding Yvette wasn't as heavy as she thought she would be. With her clung to the trunk most of her weight was on the tree. Avvie gave a sigh of relief. This isn't so difficult after all.
"Do you need me to lift you higher?" Avalon asked.

Fortunately, this time the dark haired girl was prepared for the sudden move. When the girl lifted her, her fingers quickly grabbed onto the tree, climbing up the bark. She glanced over to the branch. It did look much closer now. It was amazing how much of a different about 2 and a half feet made. She outstretched her arm, attempting to reach for the branch, but unfortunately she was mere inches away now.
"...oh! Uh, yes please!" she squeaked out at Avalon's prompting. Yvette was mildly disappointed she was not able to reach still, but there wasn't much that she could do about it. Once again, she prepped herself for another push from beneath her feet.

Avvie tried her hardest and slowly but surely got herself to raise Yvette about a foot higher into the tree. It was tough work and she grunted a little as she forced her scrawny arms upward, resting just below her clavicle bone.
"I hope this is good now?" Avalon spoke unsure.
From what she could see, Yvette had made it far past the branch they were attempting to overcome. But perspective confused the best of situations and Avvie knew that the darker-haired teen was probably just at the branch, with just enough length in her arms to pull herself onto it.
The thoughts of easier ways to get those ropes over the branch flowed through Avalon's head again. There just had to be a better... safer... solution. Maybe if I were a bird...

Once again, a boost pushed her up, though this time it was slower than the previous one. Yvette was not built to be strong, that much was evident with how soft her features were. Yet when the branch was in her grasps, she grabbed up and began to try and pull her thin body up, on top of the branch.
She struggled to keep up in the tree, her legs flailing slightly to try to find a landing on the base of the tree. From down below, it probably looked like poor Yvette was going to fall out of the tree. She squeaked a bit, as she clung onto the tree for dear life (so to speak). It was really hard, she could feel the bark scraping up her bare arms even further now.
Maybe this wasn't such a good idea she mentally whimpered to herself as she slowly made her way onto the branch. After several minutes of struggle, she had managed to hoist her whole body onto the desired branch. Fortunately, the branch was thick and quite sturdy, so there was no risk of it breaking beneath her. Huffing and puffing as she tried to regain her breath, she could slowly feel the stinging of her newly obtained scrapes growing in intensity. At least she still had the ropes in her pants.

Avvie watched Yvette struggle onto the branch, both hands cupped over her mouth in fear. What if she fell? What if she fell? Oh, Avalon would be in so much trouble! And what would she have landed on... herself? Oh, this could be bad.
She let out a sigh of relief when Yvette was able to hoist her body onto the branch. Avalon backed away from the tree a little to get a good look at the girl, who was now much higher than her. Avalon smiled at held up a 'thumb up'.
"You alright up there?" She cocked her head to the side.
