Kairi sat by the dock waiting patiently for Riku. He was late, then again he had been loosing track of time a lot recently. She thought it had a lot to do with a certain someone that he had been spending a lot of time with recently. Almost as if on cue Riku rounded the corner of Destiny Island talking with Selphie. Kairi grinned and got up.
"Hey Riku?! Your late again!!" She yelled playfully at her friend.
Riku jumped and looked to see Kairi finally. He scratched his head and said something to Selphie who nodded and took off in the opposite direction. Riku approached in his usual casual gate.
"Sorry, I kind of lost track of time." Riku appologised.
"Hey don't worry about it." Kairi glanced at the direction where Selphie had dissapeared in. "You know you could always offer to have her come with and hang out with us?"
Riku looked nervous.
"No that's fine we were just talking about some of the...uh...fishing and shell hunting that is going on in town. She's thinking of selling some of the shells that she has found on the beach the past week." Riku brushed off the suggestion.
Kairi only shrugged as if to say, well I tried, before she sighed and looked over to the small island that Riku and Sora used to spar on all the time. There was a spot of black lounging across the palm tree that was bent over. She couldn't help but sigh. Sora had been acting strange latly, kind of as though he was always lost in thought. Riku touched her shoulder and she turned to him.
"Don't worry, he'll be fine. He always is. He has a crazy ability to adapt to things." Riku comforted.
"I know he'll be okay but...well I'm worried. He's so distant sometimes, it makes me think that...I don't know..." Kairi sighed.
"Well look at it this way. All of us has changed so much in the past two years. It's been really hard but Sora's the one who has gone through the most. It takes sometime to go from that to going right back to this." He held his arms wide to indicate the island. "It's a little too laid back for soemone who has been buisy with saving the world for the past two years, you know?"
Kairi smiled and seemed to perk up.
"Your right." She said happily. "Thanks Riku."
"We better get going, I made us late enough as it is." Riku seemed apologetic.
Kairi nodded and together they started down the beach to go and meet thier friend.
