I designed this fan fic with my older sister who I miss and love very much. She lives across the state from me and we wrote the outline for it just before she moved. I'm not sure if my writing can stand up to her's, she is a wonderful writer but I hope one day to make her proud with it.
It is a bit of a more adult version of the Kingdom Hearts story. I hope that you enjoy it. Please comment on it or better yet send me a pm and tell me how you like it so far. It is kind of long, many chapters but I will post it as often as I can. Please enjoy.

Chapter One
A Letter and A Report

King Mickey stared up at the derelict castle and a shiver ran up his spine. Anyone who knew what had taken place at this castle always got the chills when they saw the ruins of Hallow Bastion's Castle off in the horizon. A constant reminder of how close thier world and every other world had come to being devoured by the darkness. More than once that had happened. Nopne who fought in those battles would ever forget it.
He took a deep breath and walked forward to the gaping entrance of the ruins. His queen's warning had been short. Be careful. That was all she ever said. It was all she ever had to say to him. He understood and so did she. It wasn't easy being the King. Although it had been a lot better for about a year. That was until about twenty minutes ago when he senced a heartless in Hallow Bastion's ruins. Everyone thought it had to be a mistake but, he had to check. He had to be one hundred percent certain that he was wrong.
His footsteps echoed off of the empty walls of what was left of the castle. He had his sences on high alert, ready to take action at the slightest hint of any danger. He gripped his keyblade as if to comfort himself as he walked. He walked through what had once been the main hall and was about to continue when suddenly he heard rustling coming from the library. He frowned aand crept closer to the doorway. He peeked through the doorway and saw a large shadow heartless carefully going through books and scattered papers.
Mickey frowned again. Heartless were rather one minded about things. They wanted to collect hearts and destroy the anyone wielding a keyblade. It was all they existed for. Yet here was a Heartless going through books in the left overs of the library. Very strange to say the least. It was being so gentle with every page. Mickey was dumbfounded.
"What the..." He whispered unintentionally.
The Heartless's head snapped up and caught glimps of King Mickey. Immediatly it tore off in an oppositer direction. Mickey immediatly sprinted after it and followed it deep into the ruins. Soon he found himsef at the room that once held the Keyhole for Hallow Bastion, the Dark Depths. He stopped and stared at the swirling portal that was there. He noticed something move to his eft and looked to see a massive hand coming at him. He dove out of the way just in the nick of time and the Heartless's hand slammed into the ground.
The Heartless yanked it's hand out of the ground and grabbed a boulder. Mickey's eyes widened as the massive rock was hurled at him. He flipped over the rock and then went for an an attack at the creature's head. It blocked with it's arm and batted Mickey away as though he were an irritating fly. Mickey hit the ground rolling and shook his head sharply to clear the stars from his vision. He saw a blizzard spell wizzing at him.
"Reflect!!" Mickey shouted the spell.
The tempoary sheild spell bounced the blizzard spell back at the Heartless and it seemed to snarl.
"Firaga!!" Mickey yelled as fire shot out the end of his keyblade.
It quickly engulfed the Heartless that let out a wail and dissintegrated. As soon as the Heartless was vanquished there was a roar that seemed to come from the portal, right before it dissapeared. Mickey sat a moment. It was partially to rest his head and partially to make sure nothing else was going to happen. He took a deep breath and sighed before he got to his feet. He dusted off his feet and was about to walk out of the ruins when he noticed something white and the floor. He frowned for the umptenth time since coming here and went to investigate.
He bent over and picked up the partially singed peice of paper and looked at it. He had to read over it several times before he acctually belived what he was reading. His mouth fell open and he shook a little.
"What...I don't..." He stared at the paper more before turning and tearing out of the ruins toward the gummi ship.

Kairi sat by the dock waiting patiently for Riku. He was late, then again he had been loosing track of time a lot recently. She thought it had a lot to do with a certain someone that he had been spending a lot of time with recently. Almost as if on cue Riku rounded the corner of Destiny Island talking with Selphie. Kairi grinned and got up.
"Hey Riku?! Your late again!!" She yelled playfully at her friend.
Riku jumped and looked to see Kairi finally. He scratched his head and said something to Selphie who nodded and took off in the opposite direction. Riku approached in his usual casual gate.
"Sorry, I kind of lost track of time." Riku appologised.
"Hey don't worry about it." Kairi glanced at the direction where Selphie had dissapeared in. "You know you could always offer to have her come with and hang out with us?"
Riku looked nervous.
"No that's fine we were just talking about some of the...uh...fishing and shell hunting that is going on in town. She's thinking of selling some of the shells that she has found on the beach the past week." Riku brushed off the suggestion.
Kairi only shrugged as if to say, well I tried, before she sighed and looked over to the small island that Riku and Sora used to spar on all the time. There was a spot of black lounging across the palm tree that was bent over. She couldn't help but sigh. Sora had been acting strange latly, kind of as though he was always lost in thought. Riku touched her shoulder and she turned to him.
"Don't worry, he'll be fine. He always is. He has a crazy ability to adapt to things." Riku comforted.
"I know he'll be okay but...well I'm worried. He's so distant sometimes, it makes me think that...I don't know..." Kairi sighed.
"Well look at it this way. All of us has changed so much in the past two years. It's been really hard but Sora's the one who has gone through the most. It takes sometime to go from that to going right back to this." He held his arms wide to indicate the island. "It's a little too laid back for soemone who has been buisy with saving the world for the past two years, you know?"
Kairi smiled and seemed to perk up.
"Your right." She said happily. "Thanks Riku."
"We better get going, I made us late enough as it is." Riku seemed apologetic.
Kairi nodded and together they started down the beach to go and meet thier friend.
