A few hours ago Nasrin had started feeling very unsettled and knowing what that meant she had slipped away from the pride and into the swamp. She was now hidden in the birthing den she had chosen a few days prior. It was dry and warm, her cubs would be comfortable here. At the moment she was alone but Semira would come soon, Nasrin had given her a silent sign before she left. Her dark sister was the only one she had shared the location of this den with and the only one she wanted present for this. Having someone who had gone trough this before would be calming to her strained nerves.
Taking deep breaths, she tried to calm herself as best as she could. For all she knew it could affect the cubs in her belly in a bad way. The pregnancy itself had gone smoothly, but the birth scared her a little. She knew nothing about the process, save from what she had heard here and there. She had never witnessed a birth. She curled into herself, waiting.

Semira padded quickly through the swamp lands. When her sister gave her the knowing nod, Semira had gathered her little ones and shuttled them off to Kabu. She felt somewhat bad knowing that Kabu's den was so full already, but there was few others that Semira trusted with her babes, one being her sister (particularly at a time like this), but well she was a little pre-occupied at the moment. She moved quickly knowing that her sister would be waiting for her, and this time could be scary, Semira was scared when her time had come.
She entered the den and purred to her sister, when she had been in labor she had insisted on the silence starting as soon as she came to the den. It was tough but their was no chance she would risk her cubs, and she certainly wouldn't risk her sisters. She brought a paw to her sisters face, to comfort her, Semira guessed that it wasn't going to be too much longer before they were graced with little ones.

At the sight of the dark lioness Nasrin felt a wave of calm and appreciation, her fear easing. She did not say anything to greet her, as she had agreed with Semira that it was best to keep silent from the very start. But as she leaned into her paw, the look in her eyes held a clear message: Thank you. The young lioness was still scared but she knew her fear would have been much greater had she had to go trough this alone.
While she was waiting for her sister the contractions had started and the time span between each one was getting smaller and smaller. The cubs would be coming soon, very soon. She clenched her teeth as the muscles in her belly contracted, her breathing heavy. She shifted her form so that now she was laying on her side and her head rested on the ground.
By now the contractions were seconds apart and Nasrin remembered that now was the time to push. A few minuets later her first cub was born, a son. She picked him up gently and held him between her front paws as she cleaned his dark green pelt. His color was a surprise, but his markings were his mother's. Nasrin smiled and laid him down next to her as she prepared herself for the next cub.

Semira smiled as the first cub was born, her nephew. She was humming lightly as she went about cleaning duties. With out being pushy she checked over the little cub. It was a little boy and a healthy one at that. She pushed him closer to Nasrins belly, hoping that he would be able to find the milk there.
She moved around closer to her sisters lower half, knowing that once things got rolling the next one wouldn't be to far along, she continued to hum in an attempt to make the atmosphere pleasant and relaxing. She studied the little cub, at first glance it stunned her, he looked so different from his mother, but as she looked closer she saw the same mask that Nasrin wore, just in a different color, it made her smile.
She noticed the contractions getting strong again, and she looked to her sister's eyes and gave her a nod, it wouldn't be long before they were graced with the presence of one more.

Nasrin heaved a heavy sigh as her second child entered the world. She gave Semira a smile, letting her know that her hum was indeed helpful for her nerves. The cubs were rather calm as well. She let Semira fuss over them and took a few seconds to gather her strength.
When she finally looked at her second son, an amused smile graced her futures. This one would be his fathers, she knew it the moment she laid eyes on him. He looked so much like Achal, but she had a feeling the the red moon on his pelt was her mark on him. She vaguely remembered her mother telling her something about the ill luck the red moon could bring, but all Nasrin could think was how handsome her cub looked.
She pushed him next to his brother as the contractions started up again. She returned Semira's nod and breathed in a deep breath. Whithin five or so minuets a third cub was born and Nasrin knew this would be the last one. It was a daughter, her pelt a beautiful blend of mother and father.

Semria smiled, she could tell that her sister was done, three cubs, it was a good sized litter. Particularly for the first, litter not to be but not too small. She knew her sister wouldn't have any problems being a single mom to this group.
Looking down at the second two cubs that were born Semira smiled, she was beginning to understand more and more what the cubs father looked like, being able to draw links between the two parents based on what the cubs looked like.
She hummed mostly to her self now that all the cubs were born as she went about cleaning out the den, she took out the wet nesting, that had been used for the birth of the cubs, and took it out into the swamps, and moved dry bedding close to the little family. Everyone appeared to be healthy and happy.
She gave her sister a quick nod, once she finished cleaning the den, she was going to duck out to return to the swamps to check on her own young, she was sure they would be OK, she would move them for Kabu's den, back to their own Zimwi would be around to look out after them.

Nasrin nodded at her sister, understanding that Semira's cubs needed their mother. Once Semira had left she turned her attention back to her newborn litter. She had rested while her sister had cleaned the den and now she rose up and left the den to get a drink of water. There was drinkable water not three feet away from the den so she was back almost immediately.
Nasrin moved her cubs onto the dry bedding that Semira had brought and lied down next to them again. She held each one in her front paws and cleaned them some more. After that she pushed them to her belly gently and watched with a tender, and slightly amused, smile as they huddled together and at the same time fought for a better feeding spot. A yawn escaped her and she curled around her cubs, preparing for a nap.

Semira padded quickly away from the den, she could hear the mews of her nephews and nieces behind her. It made her smile. When she made it back to the swamps main den area, she collected her little one and began to shuttle them off towards home.
The whole way along the little cubs were asking question about their new cousins. Particularly Kariu, it was unreal how many questions he had, it was endearing to see how much they cared, and how curious they were.
She left her cubs with her new mate, before turning and heading back towards her sisters birthing den, with the recent murder happening shortly after a lioness gave birth she didn't want to leave her sister alone for very long.
Semira would make the practice back and forth for the next while to the cubs were ready to be presented to make sure that her cubs, as well as her sister and her sisters cubs were all safe, it was exhausting but well worth the work.

((A couple of weeks later)) Nasrin nuzzled her little ones with her nose gently to wake them up. Many days had passed since their birth and their eyes had finally opened. It was time for them to see the world outside the den and be presented before the pride. Until now their mother hadn't allowed them to leave and had been very firm about keeping them in the den. Semira had been of great help with that. Today however she would encourage them to do so.
When the cubs were up and about she fed them. Once that was done she directed them towards the entrance. They looked at it with curious eyes, but she saw their uncertainty - was mommy really letting them trough the bright hole? One of them bumped into her front legs and she nudged the cub forward with her nose. Giving them an encouraging smile she passed trough the entrance and waited for them to follow her.

The dark green cub slowly inched out into the open, all the while sniffing at the air and ears twitching in every direction, trying to capture all the unfamiliar sounds. Once the initial apprehension eased back the cub stepped forward more boldly. He padded over to his mother and brushed against her leg. Curious red eyes swept over the swap laid out before him, trying to take everything in all at once. There were so many new things here and he wanted to explore them all.
One thing in practicular caught his attention - a dragonfly, tough he didn't know it was called that. Flicking his tail, he tried to sniff it but it flew away. The cub chased after it and lightly bumped into his brother, directing his attention towards the insect. Then he pulled on his sister's ear, beckoning her to play with them.

Atash stretched lazily as his mother nudged him awake along with his siblings, tiny paws pressing against warm fur as he pushed his forearms out. In the darkness and tangle of bodies he wasn't exactly sure who he was pushing on, careful not to extend his claws least he p***k one of his siblings. There was an excitement that surrounded the morning and permeated the air for today he and his siblings were being allowed to leave the den for the first time. Instead of eagerness though the young garnet cub could only feel a sense of dread closing in around him.
Licking the last traces of milk from his muzzle Atash watched Nasrin with his siblings before disappearing through the entrance of the hollowed out log that had been their home for the past few weeks. Gah! Where was she going?! She wouldn't just leave them like this would she? Dark ears quivered listening to the encouraging sounds of his mother inviting them out into the world. Pressing his back into the rough bark behind him a frown sat firmly upon his features with reluctance. Oof!
As his older brother knocked into him, he bared his teeth, pinning his ears in frustration and scooting aside to avoid the strange buzzing creature that flitted about erratically. Wary of the dragonfly the moonlight colored figure danced himself right outside of the den, stumbling backwards over a fallen branch in the path to land in a puddle.

Squinting against the bright light of the outside of the dim lighted haven her mother had kept her safe and warm in for so long, she buried her face against the back of her mothers front leg as she mewed softly.
What was so special about all of this? She mused silently to herself, the flicker of her older brothers movements caught her attention, head peeking out shyly from between her mothers front legs, Lililamuna eyed her brother with an arched brow. What on earth was he doing?!
The sparkle of the dragonflies wings caught her attention, sky blue eyes widened with a soft gasp as she stepped away from the safety of her mother, and towards her brothers now, only to let out a soft grunt at the tug of her ear, an ivory toed paw lifted, and pushed at the side of her brothers face.

Nasrin watched with amusement as her cubs made their first steps into the outside world. She decided to give them a few minuets to explore, before leading them to the main pride area, where they would receive their names and she could finally talk to them. She lowered her head to nuzzle her daughter as she hid behind her legs and gave a gentle purr.
She heard a splash of water and a gasp escaped her as she saw her dark cub in the water. Nasrin walked over to him quickly and lifted him out of the water by the scruff of the neck. She desperately wanted to say something to comfort him but she wouldn't dare risk her cubs and taint them. Instead she ran her tongue over him and rubbed her nose against his side. Then she looked back at the other two cubs and motioned with her head for them to stop playing and come to her. Once they were all at her side she began leading them trough the swamp and towards the rest of the pride. She kept a slow pace, so that they could keep up with her easily.

He swatted away his sister's paw with a playfully growl but didn't bother her any more. The dragonfly was the focus of his attention right now and he continued to chase after it. His game was cut short however. Thinking it was his fault that his brother had fallen in the water he approached him with his head held low. With an apologetic look he rubbed his nose against his cheek as if to say 'Sorry'.
He followed his mother eagerly, wondering where they were going. And most importantly why. For so long she had kept them inside the den and now she was leading them away from it. He padded close to his mother, occasionally bumping into her back leg or her tail brushing against him. He didn't want to get wet like his brother and there were a lot of puddles around. But it seemed mommy knew where they were and led him and his siblings around them.

Semira slipped out from behind the trees, she came up to greet her sister nuzzling her softly. She was excited for her nephews and niece being introduced to the pride, it was exciting. She had left her cubs waiting where the pride had gathered to greet the welcoming the new cubs.
She greeted each of the little once, with a quick nuzzle, enjoying the new world from their eyes, it was amazing to see how they explored their new environment. It made her smile thinking of her own cubs and what they had thought of the world when they had first entered it.
Kairu sat amongst the rest of the pride waiting for his mom aunt, and cousins to enter, it was super exciting, to think that he was going to have some new cubs to play with. He wondered what they would look like, him and his siblings all looked like a mixture between their mother and father, but Kairu wasn't sure what the dad looked like in this case, so he thought based on what Nasrin looked like.
The small cub wiggled in his seat excited to see what may come.
