Ok, since I killed mine a year ago, I've been without an mp3 player of any kind. I can't play my music in the house most of the time, and the cd player in my car broke. So, I've pretty much been losing my mind from lack of access to my own music. Tonight I finally decided to just break down and fork over the money for a new iPod. I'm so freaking excited to finally have my music back!!!

Awesome! I should get a new player too, because I have a very old MP3-player. I mean one of the first ones to come out here. It was expensive and it only has 2 GB of memory. :0 I also have a phone that can hold 2 GB of stuff, so I've put different music on both players and switch using them every few weeks. But I'd really need something with more memory to hold more music. D:

Well I only need it for the ~2h of travelling I do daily to work/school and back. So it's good for the time being.

I see. Well that's all right then, I guess.
My problem is that music is BIG deal to me. Since I'm in a house full of people who hate metal, I don't get to play it at home either, unless I'm alone (which is rare). Thus, I need my ipod for use around the house too :S

I refuse to buy Ipods, they are rediculously overpriced for very little space. I'd only get one if I could get if for cheap or free, then I'd replace the hard drive with something bigger. I'm thinking of buying the Archos 250 GB Media Tablet, especially since its only $240.

They are too expensive for the space if you buy the nanos or touches or stupid crap like that. The classics are still decent enough priced, though. Plus, I really like itunes for organization.

I thought even Windows Media Player was better at organization then Itunes....I guess its just me though.

I guess at this point it just feels really natural to me because I've been using it so long.

Was at Wal-Mart the other say, browsed the electronics section out of boredom.
iPod Touch, 8GB: ~ $200 Sony Walkman, 30 GB: ~$90
Apple users, taken as a group, must have more money than sense.

Fair enough. The shuffle is retarded, and there are no good low budget options with iPod. If you want a big one, though, the prices are decent. As far as apple goes (in general) I actually agree with you. They really do charge too much for the sake of being trendy. iPods are their one item that I'm partial to, though.

Well, the iPod was (and still is) the yardstick by which all MP3/4 players are measured. Apple had to have done something right, because I find it hard to believe (or maybe I don't want to believe the inverse) that people bought them just as fashion accessories.
As for everything else, well, consider this: two acquaintances of mine work with computers for a living. One does graphic design for websites, the other, IT support for a major food distribution company. Both have averred that they would never consider purchasing an Apple computer.
