Connie had decided that her room was too dark today to do her lace-making properly. She only had one window, and had to work right next to it to see anything, and she wanted to use an ivory colored thread, and was having trouble telling weither she had picked up Ivory or cream (it would seem sensible to leave her threads labeled, but she always tore the labels off, to keep them out of the way when she began to work). The third floor study room was room was already pretty crowded, so she walked down a flight of stairs, to the second floor. Finding it mostly empty, she took a seat in a corner, where the two large window would be on either side of her.

Out of her pocket she pulled her two vintage (she had purchased them online) shuttles that she used when tatting lace and set them on the arm rest of the comfy chair she had chosen, then eyed the two bobbins of thread she had brought. Her right hand definitely held the ivory and she pocketed the cream one. She made a loop with the thread around her left hand and with one of her shuttles started to weave the thread in and out of itself, making knots and pulling it tight or loose, depending on the stitch.

Malory was a bit irritated, though this was nothing unusual. Normally her neighbor's flute playing didn't bother her, but today her ears were especially sensitive to the high notes. It didn't help that she was trying to put together a somewhat complicated Eastern Dragon, but it seemed each time the higher octaves where hit, it jarred her concentration enough that she, at times, ripped the paper. It was quite frustrating. She decided her only course of action, if she was going to finish tonight, was to move her work elsewhere.

She packed up her paper, reading glasses, magnifying glass stand, and needles and headed to the Study Room. Unfortunately, her own second floor study room was quite occupied, and Malory wasn't up to sharing much space with others, so she headed on up to the third story. She figured that a floor with less occupied rooms would have a less occupied study room, and her assumption proved right.

She headed to the desk with the best lighting, the one in front of the windows. She noticed another girl there, and almost chose another desk to wok at, despite poorer lighting, but as she walked closer she saw the girl doing some sort of sewing work. Malory evaluated the situation and figured someone sewing was not as likely to be a chatterbox and be more focused on her work, meaning that Malory could get her crafting done without any more headaches. She set down her materials on the other side of the long desk, and picked up her 4 needles like dual chopsticks, and began working with the tiny half-finished dragon.

The red-headed's fingers seemed to move on their own, and so when someone else walked into the room, she chanced a glance up, before looking back down, making sure not to miss a stitch. The girl was holding some odd stuff. Paper and lots of magnification and...what appeared to be a partially finished dragon. Was that thing all made out of paper? The finished part she had set down looked more like it could be wood carving, than a bunch of folded paper. Connie, of all people though, knew what simple supplies and materials could make. In her own hands normal thread was forming an intricate lattice pattern. She had just finished reading a fantasy book, and what appeared to be simple little fairies were being stitched in.

The girl looked so engulfed in it, she decided it might be better to leave her alone, even though she was curious about the others craft. Just then a student went running by the room, apparently late for class, stomping so heavily that her spare shuttle was jarred to the floor.

"Oh what the hell!" she cried, missing a stitch as she tried to catch the falling shuttle (The were pretty durable, but still...they were her babies!).

The stomping was mostly ignorable, but suddenly from her right side she heard the exclamation, "Oh what the hell!" and Malory's needles applied more pressure than they should have, causing a tiny slit to be torn in the paper. Her teeth had already been firmly set in concentration, but now they were gritting. If it wasn't one thing it was another...

She looked over at the other girl with a bit of a scowl, noticing her picking up a fallen shuttle. She assumed it had been because of the earlier stomping, but rather than forgiving the girl for it being someone else's fault, she instead blamed her for not having a better hold of her tools.

While trying her best not to obviously glare, she did notice the craftsmanship of the partially finished lace. It was no amateur work, even Malory could tell that. At least she takes her craft seriously, she thought to herself, raising her opinion of the girl. The glare disappeared, being replaced by small frown with a hint of intrigue.
