Dalila'abadi had been hatching a plan for the last few days on how to deal with her very good friend Uhai's inability to remember his past lives. It was a bit of an annoyance at first, but now it had really become irritation. She'd tried twice now to restore his memory and failed. The blue adolescent liked to fail about as much as elephants liked mice.

Walking beside Uhai she glanced over at him wondering, why couldn't he remember his pasts? She had been able to restore memories to anyone she tried, why not him?

Convinced that her father would be able to restore Uhai's memories because his powers encompassed all memory (and he was older than her) Dali was bringing the God of Predators to see the God of Memories.

"It's a lovely day for a walk, don't you think?" She spoke conversationally.

Uhai had been spending more time with Dalila'abadi, finding her to be rather enjoyable company most of the time and, well, she was very pretty. Very pretty and she seemed rather interested in him, he was more than happy to go along with it. Unfortunately, he had no idea how they were connected before and no idea that she had been trying to force him to remember it. He was downright oblivious to any of her plans and plottings.

"It is," he agreed, looking around them and off into the distance, wondering about the prey beasts of the area briefly before looking back to Dali, "We going anywhere specific today?" She seemed to be leading the way, not that he really minded.

Mtima'safi was having a quiet, happy day. She was staying near the area they had spent the night, happy to enjoy the sun in their temporary territory. She could find the others if she needed them but she liked being where they could find her, too. Other than that, she also really didn't have anything else she felt the need to do. It was a quiet day and she could enjoy it. Everybody was growing up and doing their own things, she was looking forward to when they would return with happy stories to share with her.

"Specific? No, just for a walk," she fluttered her wings as she spoke, "maybe we'll find something interesting to do in this direction." She was pretty sure her father would be around the area the family was recently occupying, if he wasn't there someone would probably know where he was.

Dalila didn't want to be seen as some sort of a creep by insisting that he was her lover in a past life. She didn't know how to explain the past, she assumed the best way to fix the situation was to discreetly ask her father to help restore his memory.

Dalila looked around her smiling, they were coming up on the area she last saw her mother and father in. This just might work! In fact, Dalila was pretty sure she could see yellow in the not-so-distance. Although it could be wishful thinking.

Uhai shrugged when she said they might find something interesting in the direction they were headed, perfectly willing to head off in that way if that was what she wanted. His tail swayed contently as he walked along and tried to think of something to talk about.

"Oh, have you met anybody interesting lately?" he asked, recalling the last little god he had seen, "Did I tell you about the funny little god my brother had convinced to be a prey beast? I got him interested in hunting, actually. It was pretty cool." It had been quite interesting to meet Khuluma, it made him consider the idea of finding more gods to chat with. He wasn't sure there would really be anybody else he could influence, though.

Mtima lifted her head up, sighing loudly. It really was a beautiful day. When she opened her eyes again, something caught her attention, heading her way. She turned to look, recognizing the familiar pale blue form as one of her daughters-- one who had been talking about another god she had known before, one she really liked. It seemed very likely that she was about to meet this fellow. With a small smile, she got to her feet and stretched out. Her gems sparkled in the light and jingled as she moved.

A glint caught her eye; no, Dalila was fairly certain her eyes were not deceiving her, that was most certainly Mtima'safi. She hurried her pace slightly in anticipation. She wanted Uhai to remember, not just because she had feelings for him in this life, but because she had a philosophy that you cannot truly know yourself until you knew your past. Her wings fluttered and bounced as she walked straight in the direction of Mtima.

"He thought he was a prey beast? How ridiculous!" she laughed, "What washe the god of? Fools?"

"I met a lioness returning to her pride after many months. She was a very big brat, but she had some good advice for me so she wasn't all that bad. She was convinced that I was imaginary. It baffles me that some mortals don't believe in gods." and is a bit scary..those gods that weren't believed in..well..they didn't really exist any longer.

"No, no," he responded to Dali's question with a chuckle, quite pleased with her response on the subject, which showed in his toothy grin, "No, he was the god of rhetoric. I had to ask him what it was, actually, I guess it's being convincing." He filled her in without giving her a chance to say if she knew or not, he didn't think she'd mind, he was sharing the information he had found. He was surprised by her description of the lioness she had met, shaking his head.

"I suppose that's one reason to hide your identity," he commented, referring to one of their first conversations from not too long ago, "And I certainly hope you aren't imaginary, I like having you around."

Not seeing a problem with coming out to meet them, Mtima started walking out towards them. The closer she got, the easier it was to tell that it was another god walking with Dali. And the way they were talking, they certainly did seem quite familiar with each other. It made her very happy.

"Dalila," she called out happily, "Who is this you're walking around with?"

"Being convincing, that's an interesting power, I've never heard of having that power..I suppose it could be useful," she nodded, like convincing him that they've known each other for a long time.

"I don't like hiding my wings, I do however like changing my size. I like having you around too," she responded brightly.

"Hi Mom!" Dalila smiled and turned toward Uhai, "My mom's here..what a coincidence!" she badly feigned surprise. The blue goddess ran to her mother and bumped her shoulder against Mtima affectionately.

"This is Uhaijizi, God of Predator."
PostPosted: Thu Nov 12, 2009 7:06 pm

"Who's that?" Uhai asked dumbly, looking out to the voice who questioned Dali. Then he blinked and turned quickly to look at Dali when she said 'hi mom'. Was he being ambushed? His eyes widened and he looked to Mtima'safi when he was introduced. He quickly tried to put a smile on his face.

"H-hello!" he said cheerfully, glancing to Dali, wordlessly swearing revenge. She didn't sound surprised at all, she must have known her mother was in this direction.

Even Mtima could tell that Dali was doing her best to act surprised, and she knew that Dali definitely would have known that she was in this direction. Still, she didn't rat her out. Instead, she offered a smile and affectionate nudge to her daughter and then a smile to the god being introduced to her.

"Nice to meet you, Uhaijizi," she said, "I'm Mtima'safi, goddess of souls." During her introduction, she kept her eyes on the other god and managed to keep a smile on her face but it faltered quickly after she finished introducing herself. Something was wrong, she could see it. She glanced to Dali.

Dalila tilted her head at her mother wondering why her happy face had faltered, did she disapprove of Uhai? She seemed all smiles before that.

"We were out for a walk and I decided we might find something interesting to do in this direction," she tried to keep up her little ruse, "I'm happy that you two can meet. Uhai is a very good friend, and he's got some of the very best hunting stories!" turning to Uhai, "I hope you don't mind if we chat for a bit?" Oh she felt dreadful tricking him now, but she was sure it would be the only way for him to remember, remembering was pretty much everything to the goddess.

She tilted her head slightly looking around, "Is dad around? I have a question for him." She looked in the distance for the large pale blue god...was he here? She certainly couldn't see him.

"It's nice to meet you," Uhai agreed, going along with things for now, even when Dali continued her excuse. He didn't really believe her but he definitely wasn't going to cause a scene in front of her mother. This was awkward, and it could be less awkward if he had been prepared for it. Or expecting it. Or had even realized she cared enough to introduce him. They had talked about their families, he knew she was close to them. He looked curiously to Dali when she said she had to ask her father a question.

Mtima's eyes didn't move from the predator god, even when Dali explained what had been going on. Only when she said she was looking for her father did Mtima finally turn to her. Dali wouldn't lure her good friend here to go and chat with her father, something was wrong and Mtima didn't need to see his soul to know it- though it certainly helped. Why she was looking for her father and not her mother, though, meant it had to be a memory issue.

"He's not here, darling," she said, "Why are you looking for him?"

How could she get to mentioning what she saw?

"I..erm..well," she paused and looked back at her friend, she wasn't sure exactly what to say here. On one hand she needed to explain to her mother that she wanted Uha to look at Uhai to help her with his memory condition, and on the other hand she didn't want to scare her friend away.

She wrinkled her brow and scrunched her nose, "I wanted to ask dad about memories. I tried to restore Uhai's memories to see if I could and nothing happened," she turned to Uhai, "I didn't mean to violate your trust or anything, I was just very curious. I wanted to see if my father could do it he's got a lot more control over memory."

"I know it was silly and I shouldn't have tricked you into coming this way, and it doesn't matter anyway he isn't here and I've made everything awkward." Wow, Dalila really was a teenage girl, whining and being self centered about the whole business. Her emotions were getting in the way of her better judgment, she purposefully left out the bit about what Uhai's past memories contained. She looked from Uhai to Mtima for reassurance that she hadn't done something terribly wrong.

Uhai was stunned when Dalila implied that he had a memory problem. Not only that, but she had tried to fix it, whatever it was, without his consent. He didn't think there was anything wrong with him, his memory was perfectly fine. He remembered his lifetime, he knew gods cycled through lives and he didn't remember the life before this one but that wasn't strange. He glanced to Mtima and then looked back at Dali.

"My memory is just fine," he argued, not entirely sure how to handle this now. He'd been tricked, lured away. He wasn't the one who was tricked, he was the one who did the tricking.

"I'm out of here," he muttered, turning away to leave, not knowing what else to do.

Mtima listened to Dali, turning her ears as she tried to process what her daughter said-- and she couldn't help but feel bad for the other god. He had no idea, Dali certainly should have talked to him before bringing him here to try to fix something. Then he tried to leave, but Mtima couldn't just let him go.

"Don't go," she called after him, attempting to pull him back by his soul- gently, but hoping not to let him just run away, "I think I know what's wrong, you can't leave."

Watching Uhai turned to leave Dalila felt desperate, there was nothing she could do to keep Uhai here..and she feared she'd lost him in this lifetime forever. "Puh-please don't go, Uhai!" Dalila'abadi felt like an awful fool, "I should have tried to talk to you about it and ask for your permission..or at least given you a heads up on my plans..I just..was worried about you."

She looked to her mother, sadness and confusion spread across her face, "It was stupi-" she stopped finally realizing what Mtima said..she knows what is wrong?

"What's wrong?" Dalila looked from Uhai to Mtima and back. How would Mtima know about memories?
PostPosted: Thu Nov 12, 2009 8:36 pm

Uhai had barely made it three steps away from the two goddesses when something he couldn't explain stopped him, though he wanted to fight it. He wasn't sure what was going on but he wasn't able to leave-- and then the older one was saying she knew what was wrong with him. He turned around, scowling. He was still reluctant to believe something was wrong with him at all, he didn't know what to think or do now. He'd been brought here by a friend, to see her father but now it was her mother.. it was just plain confusing. He was a god, he shouldn't have to stay here. But then, he shouldn't have to worry about what they might do, either. Of the three of them, he was the clear winner in a physical fight.

He didn't say anything though, he just looked grumpily on, waiting for an answer.

Well, she had their attentions. Now she just had to figure out how to explain it without being offensive, Uhaijizi did not look particularly happy about any of this but Mtima had to fix it, it was her job to make sure these things were righted. A god's soul was different, it didn't move on after it died, it continued. There was a chance it was recent but he'd probably know of something that happened recently.

"I can't say for sure it's what is affecting his memory- if something is affecting his memory," she started, looking from Dali to Uhai when she decided to let him hold on to the idea that his memory was OK, "Something is wrong with your soul. I can fix it, I will fix it but you have to know it."

She wasn't going to give him a choice, or she was going to try hard not to. But she wouldn't do it without telling him first.

"His soul?" Dalila's eyes widened, that was certainly something unexpected and strange. She pulled through her memories of him and could not recall anything she knew that would have broken his soul.

"Uhai, I don't want to hurt you, I never wanted to make you mad at me," she took a step toward him, "If my mom says she can help she's being genuine. This wasn't some scheme to harm you..it was just a very misguided scheme to help you."

She felt miserable, she'd earned his trust, become friends with him, and even thought they might hit things off without any of his memories restored. Dalila was pretty sure she'd ruined her chances with him in one shot.
