"Don't you see? He's just using you in some grand scheme! You're too stupid to see it!"

"No mother..." She whispered alloud as she wallowed in the memory of the moment she had left her mother and her home behind. "I don't see. I don't see, because what you see is false." She could never understand how mother could hate Suijin so much. Had he not blessed her with children? With a Rawal? Was he not a skilled and handsome lion? Was she not proud to say they had coupled? Aysu felt her heart swell with pride to think that the grey lion - so similar to herself in appearance - was her father. She adored him. Worshipped him. She had no regrets about leaving everything behind for him. She knew, from that day, that she would do anything for him.

"This isn't the end of it."

"Yes it is." Her breath released her words and for a moment it seemed she would not snap from her thoughts. Then, quite suddenly, she came to, glancing around almost as if expecting to see her mother standing there. But she was not. It was doubtful she'd ever see that dark-pelted lioness ever again.

Did it sadden her?

No. Aysu knew now that her life lay here, with her father in his lands. That was all there was to it. All she needed was right here.

Suijin couldn't help but be pissed off. That b***h how dare she think she could get away with...with talking to their daughter like that. To him. And he would never. NEVER. Forgive her for actually hurting Aysu.

Guess she'd never realize that sometimes, no always, that she wasn't going to be the favorite. She was an attention whore, even him impregnating her was for attention. She'd never learn.

Perhaps she'd realize that he always won. Always.

He paced back and forth trying to keep his temper under control. He had never been this angry or sore about something. Ever. And he didn't understand why.

"Aysu!" He roared wanting to know where she was.

Her ears twitched forwards at the sound of her father's call, and instantly she was on her paws, turning to look for him. It sent a thrill through her heart to know that she had a parent who cared. A parent who loved her.

"I'm over here, Daddy!" She called, shaking the leaves from her pelt and moving towards the sound of his voice. She knew he had been angry at Horowai. Very angry. She just hoped that he wouldn't think that she was anything like her mother.

In fact, she was probably more like Horowai than she realised - though she'd never, ever admit that to herself. Their stubborn somewhat naive nature was definately not the only quality mother and daughter shared.

"A-are you okay?"

His body was tense as he waited for her to respond. The second she did he felt himself relax while he turned around looking for her. As soon as he saw her he felt a small smile cross his maw. It felt weird, he wasn't used to actually smiling. Smirking, yes, smiling not so much.

And here he was smiling.

"I'm fine," he mumbled rather harshly padding over to her. "Come here," he ordered stopping a few feet away. His gray-blue eyes studied her quietly sitting down. Things were different now that he had one of his children by his side. One that looked so much like him.

One who adored him even before she knew him. Something he found incredibly odd.

She smiled in return, warmed by that simple expression. For no one - no one - had looked at her that way. Not her mother or her siblings. Though, perhaps her Aunt, at times, may have smiled. But this was her father and though he barely knew her he was smiling and he was pleased to see her and she could have wept from the joy of it.

She moved towards him, eager to obey, not even noticing that if her mother had ordered her around in such a manner, she would have snapped back and run off.

She paused in front of him and then slowly sat, mirroring him. She drew in a breath and felt it quiver in her chest. Should she say something? Did he want her to speak? Or was he just letting the silence drag a moment later before he continued? She swallowed, feeling nervous - but only a little - and then lowered her eyes. "I...I'm glad..." What did she mean to say? Glad wasn't the word. "I knew you'd come..."

He scooted just a little bit closer to her, just close enough that he could nuzzle her neck. It was comforting to have another person by his side that wasn't just another one of his pawns, just another toy to be played with and then thrown away. But at the very same time it was completely and utterly confusing and hard for him to wrap his head around it.

"I've always planned to," he told her honestly pulling away to study her expression.

He knew that his being here, simply being with her, made her happy and in a strange way it made him happy as well.

Things were different. They were changing.

She nodded slowly and suddenly wanted to pour out her heart to him. How she had spent days dreaming of his return. Dreaming and hoping that he'd whisk her away from her horrible mother and out into a land that was beautiful and kind. And here he was. Her knight in shining armour! Everything that she had dared to hope for was slowly unfolding itself to her.

"I know you did. I always knew you would. Others thought I was...well, they didn't believe me when I said you would. Now look. You're here and I'm not with them anymore." She purred, closing her eyes as she pressed her head against his mane.

"I love you, Daddy, and I promise. I won't leave you or make you mad or cause any trouble." She squeezed her eyes tightly closed. "I'm here to stay, now, if that's okay."

"Well the others were wrong," he replied his eyes narrowing just the slightest bit. The others, that could only mean Horowai and the other, nameless, children of his. He didn't particularly care about them, they served him no purpose. All were treated, from what he had observed, better by Horowai than she had ever treated the daughter in front of him now.

Especially that paler blue female. The one with the high ranking. But he could see how she unhappy she was and yet he felt as though it was Horowai's just deserts. None of her children would ever truly be happy.

"You will never have to go back," he told her shaking his head. "I promise you that," he stated firmly. Her mother swore she'd come back and get her but if she tried, well he swore he'd rip her throat out.

"No one will ever touch you again," he shook his head. He smiled weakly at her, "of course Aysu."

She nodded slowly, her heart fluttering as she listened to his every word. He was going to protect her? He was going to keep her safe? She knew that from this day forward she was going to be happier than any lioness who had ever lived.

"Thank you, Father, so much."

Her purr laced her words and she leaned closer, pressing her head closer to him. "What happens now, Father? I mean...where do we go from here? Not that it really matters. I'll follow you to the end of the world if need be! But I...well...do you have any plan of what to do next?" She blinked up at him, drawing away a little so she could peer into his face. "If I can be of any help, you will let me know, won't you? I owe you so much. Too much. I can never repay you for coming to rescue me from that place..."

"Anything for you Aysu," he replied resting his chin upon the top of her head. He had a lot to think about now, he had many a plans already forming. He had begun to move the pieces into place. He had already found his 'queen' and began manipulating her, it was easy. He offered her a position of royalty and she had taken the bait.

"What do we do next..." he echoed without a second thought. "I already know," he stated with a dark grin. "We're going to go back to my home, my pride," he pulled away from her as excitement filled him. "With you by my side, we'll rebuild it and return it to all of it's former glory," he looked at her.

"Will you help me?"

He was already sure of her answer.

"Yes!" Her response was instantaneous. He would never be rid of her, even if he tried to drive her away. She was at his side for good now. Until the end of time itself.

"I'll be there to help you, Father. Don't doubt it. Your home is my home. Your goals are mine. I'll do all I can to help see you rebuild your kingdom." She felt her heart swell with pride to know that she would help with so great a task.

And, with a smile, she leaned forward to kiss him on the muzzle, knowing no further words could describe the joy he had brought into her life, nor the meaning.

Suijin chuckled at her enthusiasm. Even when Kagami had been attached to him, when they were young, it wasn't complete and total devotion like Aysu and it was comforting. She knew what she was going in to, at least he'd be sure she knew, and she was willing, no excited. He would never force her to do something she didn't want to, if he wanted her to do something he would let her know and then leave it up to her.

He knew that she would do it for him. She already said she would do anything for him.

He closed his eyes, pressed his head against her cheek. "For now we rest. Tomorrow we'll go home."
