It was a cool evening and Zuberi was just outside of the pack lands, poking around scouting if you will. He was in a good mood tonight, for no particular reason he was just happy. He was thinking about venturing out further away from the lands, maybe find someone to spend the night with, meet a new friend. He was open to just about anything.

He went a little further from the border, and through some long grass, towards a watering hole, that he knew often attracted other wild dogs, it was the largest freshest one in the area, aside from ones in the pack lands. His ears perked when he spotted another wild dog, not to far in the distance, but the watering hole, a mostly gray female with pink accent, how interesting Zuberi thought as he trotted in her direction a smile across his face.

It had been a long but good day for the wanderer. Siesha laid right at the water's edge, not minding the mud. Instead, her focus was upon the water's surface. It was a still evening, so not even a breeze rippled the mirror of the sky. She was laying with her front paws crossed one over the other submerged in the very edge of the waterhole, while she peered down at her reflection. A song thrummed in herm ind, only softly vibrating her vocal cords. More noticable than her faint humming was the swish of her tail sweeping back and forth behind her against the marshy grasses growing in the mud, as well as the occasional plish of her paws in the water.

Truth was, she was daydreaming. Her paws, crossed so neat and tidy, were also moving to the beat in her head, moving noticably up and down together, cauing gentle ripples to extend from them. She rather liked the way she could see the rhythm that way, and was watching her own face rippling with the music in her head. This was a lazy, contented dance, one of quiet and serenity. She smiled at herself at the thought. A dance of mellow dusk and swiftly approaching sleep-time. Giving a great yawn, she stretched, uncrossing her paws and letting her hind end stand up, stretching her back with relish.

Standing once more, she glanced down at her muddy legs and gave a shrug. Time for a bath it seemed. Without compunction she trotted into the water, enjoying the percussive sound her paws made as they struck the surface of the water. Ooooh, there was potential for a special water dance there, to be sure! With her mind on dance and getting clean, she failed to notice the approaching male, or she would have greeted him merrily. Instead, she merely pranced about in the water, laugghing and slapping the water with her paws just to hear the sound it made.

Zuberi watched the wild dog dance and play in the water, he didn't have the same ear that the other had for rhythms despite his name name meaning Strongear. As the female danced around in the water, he made his way to the waters edge, wanting to join the fun she seemed to be having in the water, but not entirely wanting to stop her yet, she was clearly having a good time.

He let a little chuckle escape through his throat as he watched her dance, deciding to wait no longer he brought his paws into the water and spoke, "Hello there," he began, although he had met so many others he found this whole introduction thing rather awkward a lot of the time, " I do hope that I am not bothering you, my name is Zuberi." he looked at her wondering if he should invite himself to join her fun, but settled instead for sitting down in the shallow water waiting for her to say something in return.

Unabashed by discovering she had an audience, Siesha pivoted to face the other wild dog, settling down enough to no longer splash, though her hind feet still danced on the floor of the spring. "Greetings!" she called back cheerfully, her tail waving welcome behind her, spraying glittering drops of water every which way. Unmindful of the spray, she smiled and answered him openly. "You disturb me not at all, Zuberi! I am Siesha." She deemed herself clean enough and moved out of the water, her hind paws still bouncing about to the beat in her head, keeping practically double-time those of her front paws.

She paused long enough on the shore to give herself an all-over shake, dispersing the leftover moisture in a time-honored canine way. Only then did her hind paws stop their dancing as she sat to regard her new companion. Her shoulders were just faintly swinging now, but it was hardly noticable. She cocked her head to the side, ears tipping jauntily. "Am I intruding on your pack's lands?" It was something to be considered, after all. "I do apologize, if so." Her elders had taught her to at all times be considerate of the wishes of others. "I can leave, if it pleases you," she offered, though it was clear she'd rather stay for a bit and chat.

She was a social critter, though she did just as well on her own as not. Her imagination and the song in her heart did well as traveling companions. Her quest, however, was not likely to be accomplished by remaining solitary. It was important to meet many others on her road of travel.

Zuberi smiled, "You intrude on nothing my dear, the pack lands are close to here but you are not on them no worries." he had a warm smile on his face, a smile that rarely left, life was short in Zuberi's opinion there was no time to be sad or angry.

"It is very nice to meet you Siesha." the wild dog said trying to commit the name to memory. "Stay and visit with me, I so like meeting others, specially others from the outside, the great wild." he laughed, Zuberi loved his pack but he had an obsession with the outside, he wanted to know more.

Her tail traced an arc in the dirt behind her in happiness at the interest the male expressed in her presence. How lovely to meet someone so eager for company! "The wild?" she asked, tipping her head the other direction. Ah, the roguelands! "Well, I'm not actually from the wilds," she answered truthfully, swinging her head in companionable denial. "My pack has sent me out to learn the negative ways of life, the unfortunate and unpleasant things that come our way." She looked incongruously happy about this statement, tail still waving away. "We are mostly peaceful, though we do have the occasional spats that any family might," she explained cheerfully.

She paused to think of what 'the wilds' had been like. "Truthfully, there hasn't been much going on during my travels thus far." And there hadn't. She met very few other animals, feline or canine. Oh, there had been various other smaller animals, but most had run from her, since she was a predator. She hunted when she was hungry, but did not savor randomly killing creatures when it was not to fill her belly. "There is so much space, so wide and open, with dips and curves to the land, I'm discovering that finding others to meet is a bit of a challenge," she confessed candidly, one paw beginning to tap a slower counterbeat to the gentle sway of her shoulders.

Feeling she'd done her best to give her portion of news, she sat up straighter and pricked her ears. "Tell me about your pack?" she asked sweetly, eyes bright with genuine interest. "Is it large? Are you a peaceful people, or one that thrives on strife?" It wasn't meant to be an insulting question. She merely was intent on learning about how the world worked, and why such things as fear, anger, and jealousy played such large parts in others lives when her own people lived, for the most part, harmoniously. The word 'harmoniously' echoed in her head, and she stifled a giggle. Ha, she'd made a pun!

Zuberi perked up right away. He loved the chance to talk about his home, his home meant a great deal to him. "My home is a peaceful place." he said answering her last question first, "We are a family there is no fighting or any such nonsense." he told her a large grin on his face.

"The most unique thing about us would have to be that we are nocturnal. Our pack doesn't do so well with the blazing heat and as such we sleep in our dens during the day staying in the shade and then wake at night to conduct our business." Long before Zuberi was ever alive many of the pack members died because of the blazing heat.

"I am a scout though, and I somewhat like the day light." he said looking up at the blazing sun. "Everyonce in a while I venture out in the day to get my work done... just like today." he smiled.

"My family is all in the pack, I couldn't imagine living anywhere else." he told her. "What about you were do you come from? Tell me more!"

Her toes flexed rhythmically to a whisper of a song in her head, but most of her attention was on the other canine. How intriguing! A nocturnal pack! it certainly wasn't anything she'd encountered before, but also didn't seem to exactly fit into any of the things she had been sent out to learn. She did file the information for later use though. Perhaps a dance about nocturnal life might work? She let a corner of her mind chew on that while she answered his question.

"I'm from a long distance from here," she answered willingly. "My pack is mostly of family too, and we are all very happy. Instead of fighting, we dance to show our emotions if something is wrong. It provides a physical outlet that hurts noone, but still epxresses our feelings for all to see." She was very proud of how her pack handled such things. "We have been peaceful for generations! But this does make some things challenging." Which was why she was out here, after all. "We feel to properly dance life, we must understand all aspects of it, as much as is possible. So that is why I am out here instead of home. It is my time to learn of life, so I may grasp the darker things and learn to dance them as well as I dance the happy things." She smiled, a fond and distant smile. She missed her family, but was much too energized by her quest to ache for them yet.

Zuberi listened his head cocked to the side. It was an interesting way to live, he didn't fully understand it but it was interesting. Dancing ones emotions, it made sense in a way as the dog was completely unable to sit still. He giggled watching her toes twinkle in the water.

"It sounds like a wonderful place to live." he told her a smile on his face. "My home we are not dancers we are night owls. Speaking of which the night is getting old I really should be heading back home before anyone worries. It was a pleasure to meet you I do hope we run into each other again."

Night owls? She tipped her head to the side and thought about it, her paws still for four heartbeats. Then a hind paw began sweeping back and forth, tapping out another beat, and she nearly missed his saying he needed to go. Her ears swept forward again from their relaxed, thinking position. "Oh, so it is!" She smiled, tongue lolling comfortably. "I'm glad to have met you as well! If I happen back by, I shall be sure to visit during the dark hours. Perhaps I could meet more of your pack!"

The idea clearly pleased her, for her tail began waving a wild counterbeat to her hind paw, which still counting out the rhythm to her thoughts of a nocturnal pack. What a story to tell to her family back home! "Stars guide your steps, and moon light your way!" she called impulsively, as it seemed to fit his lifestyle. With a last yip goodbye, she leapt to her paws and bounded into the dark, undaunted by the nocturnal stirrings about her. A path was a path, whether by day or night, and her life was as it was, regardless of which light shone upon her.
