First off, a wholehearted thank you for those that have been asking questions. smile
This topic will be like a tutorial, covering all the nuances of combat. For this, I'll be using two hypothetical characters.
Character A has Astra, a Major Skill.
Character B will be using Fleetfoot and Bargaining Chrarisma.
Feel free to comment about this battle here, or in the OoC thread.
...There's no actual posts in here. Just the bare minimum. Read this if you know how to RP fight already.

Character A is confident that he doesn't need to rely on Astra this round. He attacks, dodges, and moves about as a normal RPer would. He launches his attack at Character B's knees.

KuraiKitty rolled 1 20-sided dice:

Character B rolls the dice to see if either of their skills activates- she is either trapped into taking the hit by a wily role player, or otherwise can't think of a way to get out without taking serious (and possibly irreparable) damage to the knees.
Edit: The skills don't activate. Character B tries to block the hit and back off, but still takes damage. She cannot launch an attack of her own.

Character A, confidence bolstered by a lack of attack, tries to go in for serious damage with Astra. The player rolls the dice, hoping for a 1.
Edit: It doesn't quite work out, but that's all right- the other player wasn't attacking them, anyway. Character A bides his time and waits for Character B's next move.

Character B launches an attack, as per a usual RP post.

The fight continues in this fashion, with character B attempting to use skills throughout the battle while Character A does not touch them for the rest of the round.
----
Long story short: Skills are there for when you want to take a chance, or when you feel safe to use them. You NEVER have to use your skills if you don't want to, but be aware that the luck of the draw could mean life or death. smile

I think one of the other issues was brought up was in what manner we could make the RP post. Think you could make something small in a roleplaying manner so that everyone's clear on what's a yes and what's a no-no.

How do people usually battle when text roleplaying?
Just making sure that people won't go into this thing saying "I roll a twenty and hit you" or something along those lines. I meant a roleplay post that contains a battle action just like you just tried to explain, showing how people can work in the skills in a roleplay context instead of just saying that they use so-and-so skill.
