It was a rare occassion that Mauja ventured somewhere he didn't recognize. He almost always had a flame in every section of the savannah, but he knew he'd never been in this area before. The place reeked of lions, so he was overly cautious- he never really like male lions much. They didn't like to play with him.
His ears swiveled back on his head; he had passed by a lion earlier that blended in perfectly to its surroundings. It made him worry about stumbling upon a not-so-friendly lion. He wouldn't let the fear ruin his day, though. Oh no, he'd still find someone to have fun with. He'd just...make sure it wasn't male, and that it wasn't angry.

The young lioness was prowling around the pride territory. She was bored as usual. The same rocks, the same valley, the same den, and the same lions. It never really changed. Every day was pretty much the same.
She knew she was from outside the pride. Or at least her mother was. She didn't remember where but she did remember the excruciating long walk to the pride as she followed in her father's pawprints.
She often sat on the tallest rocks near the edge of the pride to look out at the world and wonder just what was beyond the En Gedi.
Her father would have none of that talk. He was so dedicated to the pride he'd loose his mind without it. Especially now that his 'true love' had abandoned him and taken three cubs with her.
She was lost in thought when she noticed something dark creeping along their lands. It was something strange she'd never seen before. Long and lanky... feline to be sure but not a lion.
Without hesitation to wonder if it was dangerous or even friendly she bounded down the rocks to get a closer look. She scented the air. It wasn't familiar.
"... Uhm excuse me..." She attempted creeping out from behind the rocks with a small smile. "Can....I help you?"

It almost startled Mauja to hear a voice and not see anything creating it. But, as he remembered his previous encounter, it wasn't too surprising. The lions here seemed to blend better then they did elsewhere, and Mauja was, to say the least, a tad creeped out. His ears turned, and his eyes rapidly flicked around, trying to see where the approaching lion was. He didn't want to seem too nervous, but he absolutely hated not knowing what was coming up on him.
He turned his head, and his orange eyes almost grazed right over the pale colored lioness. Thank Mkodi, it was a lioness. A smirk arose on his maw, and he slinked closer to the female, his eyes staring into hers. "My dear, you can always help me." He scanned her up and down, appreciating her coat. Good thing she was so light and blended easily with the grass; otherwise, Mauja would have felt like a total idiot for not seeing her immediately. But he didn't. "I almost didn't see you there, love. Is everyone in this pride so stunningly elusive?" He cocked his brow at her, still smiling all the while. This could really turn out to be a fun day, hm? Given that Mauja utilize his...talents.

The cream lioness tilted her head when he came closer. He sounded friendly... maybe a bit over friendly. She smiled back as he checked her out, not quite certain of his intentions but flattered none the less. She blushed slightly at the use of 'love' and shifted.
"I'll help you however I can then... Do you mean do we all blend in? Yah... Its hard to find each other sometimes." She said with a bit of a laugh. It was rather difficult to find the cubs. They could seemingly just disappear.
She hesitated looking back up the rocks then at the stranger. He was so different...So unlike a lion. If he was one he was certainly well weird. "If.....if its not too personal... ah I've never met anyone like you before. Are you a lion? Or something else?"

Mm, she was a sweet thing, that was for sure. Mauja almost let out a sigh of relief at the thought, because the last thing he wanted was to be with an angry lioness. Oooooh, no. His tail flicked to the side, and his smile was sweet, head turned towards the ground. Kind females always made Mauja sweeter, and they were just more fun to watch squirm, anyways. "I'm glad to hear that, dear." His orange eyes flicked up, looking straight at her.
Mauja almost laughed as she asked him what he was. It wasn't the first time he'd been asked, and he thought it funny that no one seemed to know what he was anymore. Such times, such times. "Oh, no, sweetheart, it's fine. I get that all the time." He came up closer to her, circling around her, as if showing off his slender figure. "I'm a cheetah, dear."

Asenath found herself drawn to the strange creature. He was so friendly and he had a interesting way of speaking. A silver tongue. She stared into his orange eyes with her own pink ones. Her gaze was laced with awe and curiosity. She couldn't help it. He just was so different. She liked different.
She couldn't help it when her young gaze flickered over his lithe body and she found it highly attractive. Her muzzle got a rosy tint as circled her. She shouldn't think that way. He was from outside the pride.
Then again so was her mother...
But if her father knew.... well that made it all the more alluring.
"A cheetah? Is that another cat?" She questioned rather excitedly. He had her hook line and sinker already. "I've never met any 'cheetah' before. My name is Asenath..."

"It is, my love." He stopped in front of her, just a few feet away. He smiled as he saw her blush; it was cute, actually. Her pale fur only made it cuter. "So you don't need to worry." His head turned in a leaned-back smile; he was trying to entrance her, it seemed. His movements flowed seemlessly, and the proportions of his body only made it more tantalizing to those who looked on for too long.
"Asenath, hm?" He moved in right up in front of her; he was breathing through his mouth, his face just inches away from hers. "It's rather....beautiful." He paused, wanting to take in the moment. His favorite part was always having fun like this. He enjoyed getting close, breathing a little harder, making them blush- it was a fun addiction he'd picked up from a young age. "It sounds so exotic. My name is Mauja." If anyone knew the meaning behind his name, they would normally stand clear of him. It wasn't like normal creatures to play with hazards, after all. But ignorance was bliss in his case.

"Wow... that's really amazing. I had no idea there were other cats. Well I mean I kind of knew... but there's none here in the pride." She amended but her eyes were locked on his slim figure.
She'd never been flirted with. Jaron was too close of a friend, almost too brotherly, to consider flirting with her. Not that she would mind it... but now her mind was caught up in this new exotic animal.
Her ears flattened back but she didn't step away from him. Her fur darkened more. No one had ever told her that. Not even once. Confidence flowed into her and she stood a bit straighter. She was prideful.
"Mauja..." She repeated thankfully the meaning washed far over her head. She probably wouldn't have cared what it meant anyway. She felt a sort of giddy rush and moved away from him to show off her own lean huntress body.
Two could play at the flirting game. Even if she was following by example. "Would you like to see the pride?"

"Don't worry yourself too much on it, dear. The rest will show themselves eventually." He laughed a little; it wasn't too surprising that there weren't any other felines in a pride out here. In fact, Mauja hadn't seen very many prides with other felines at all. They either didn't accept them, or the big cats were too solitary to want or need a pride. He was, of course, the latter of the two.
"Show me around, hm?" He paused, debating if he could trust her enough to not bring him into hostile territory. She seemed sweet enough, though, and if he ended up being beaten to a pulp, then the gods just weren't on his side today. "I suppose I'll have a looksee, love." With a lioness with him, he was a little more confident in wandering through a pride filled with light-pelted lions that seemed to remain hidden in the scenery. Sometimes, he just had to have a little faith in others.
"It's a nice pride then, hm?" He was half asking out of concern for ill-tempered lions, but he was also curious to see how devoted she was to her pride. Mauja never liked the concept of prides for himself, but he still saw their importance in the lives of others. Pointless, but necessary, as he saw it.

"How many are there?" She asked persisting in the knowledge that had apparently aluded her whole life. Why hadn't her father told her about the other kinds? Surely he'd seen them in his travels.
The nickname made the hair rise up on her back as she gracefully made it up the rocks. "Its up this way. I usually sneak out here if Dad isn't around." She admitted. They accepted newcomers but the subject of other felines never came up. She didn't know how they'd react to the cheetah but he was such a nice guy. "Careful its a bit steep."
She smiled, "Yah its really great... We're all one big family here. We don't have any dispute with any other prides and Dad keeps an eye on things like a hawk. He's the warrior chief of the pride. Don't let his title scare you though. He just thinks he's the biggest lion around." Which in the pride and compared to many other lions he was. He certainly dwarfed the females.
She brought him over the rocks out out look their pride. It was all lovely pale yellowed rocks and intricate tunnels. The grass was lush and green with a small river gliding through the valley. Their source of fresh water. "Well this is home."

"How many?" Mauja couldn't quite determine whether she was talking sheer numbers or species. "Well, um.....there are cheetahs, leopards, and then wonderful mixes of species." He closed his eyes and smiled, thinking of his own hybrid cubs back at the den he scarcely saw.
"Oh, so we've got ourselves a bad girl here, hm?" He raised an eyebrow to her, grinning widely. He had to admit, this was the first time anyone's father had been added in the mix of conversation with him, but it only showed how sweet she really was. Sort of a 'Daddy's little girl.' "I suppose prides aren't too bad." He could only imagine some of his offspring in pride's at some point in their lives. It'd be strange visiting them.
Mauja followed her, looking over the heart of the pride with her. "Home...." His voice wasn't endearing in the least. It was rather flat and uncaring, actually. The word 'home' meant nothing to the cheetah, and that was probably the reason why he was so apathetic while looking at the pride before him. "It seems like a perfect place to raise little ones, hm?" He shifted his gaze over to her, a smirk rising on his maw.

"Wow, that many diferent types?" She questioned stopping to look back at him curiously.
She flushed slightly, circling up the rocks with ease. "Not... bad per se... just... I don't see why we can't go outside the borders. He's... very protective. Our mother left and I think... maybe he thinks we won't come back. I don't know..." She put her ears back.
"I like our pride. It is home." She perked her ears up and brushed at a rock with her paw. "Ah well... I know all the males here... and I don't think an of them are interested."
More spesificly the prince of the pride.

"Well, I can understand his worry, love." Mauja thought about how her father must feel after being abandoned of sorts by her mother. His own behaviour was similar, but he justified it by returning when he was able to. He loved watching his cubs grow, and he knew that soon he'd feel the pain of them going off in their own directions to live their own lives. But he'd never pin them down; it was in his nature to be free, and he'd only want the same for his cubs.
"I'm sure that someone's interested in a gorgeous girl like you." He smiled, looking over at her. "I bet they're just too shy to admit it. Fear of rejection, maybe?" Mauja had never suffered that fear himself, but he knew that it could be scary. Especially with the males that only take to one female. Such a difficult life they must lead.

"Me too... but sometimes... I just want to go see the world, you know?" She looked over to him with a soft half smile. "Sorry, you must have seen everything by now. It must be boring to listen to me." She began to lead him deeper inside the pride.
The dark color underneath her fur became known again and she looked away. "You think so? I... don't know... I've never thought of it that way."

"Yeah, that's how I've been living my life so far." Mauja laughed, not too surprised by how closed-in prides could be. They offered protection and a community, for sure, but it seemed like they were constricting to members sometimes. "I wouldn't do well in a pride. I'd probably only show up once every three months." He tilted his head, glancing over towards Asenath.
"I know so, love." He moved closer, an almost bounce in his step. "I like you, and we just met." He smirked, trying to get his point across. She really was a pretty lioness; simple, but the colors were pleasing to the eyes. Her personality was sweet, as well, and that's all Mauja could ask for in a meeting, wasn't it? He just couldn't bring himself to stay around ill-tempered creatures, female or not. Too much stress.
