Life was, once again, looking up for Wahabu. After the uncomfortable split up with Intombi, he had dared to try again and had fallen quite unexpectedly for a sister of one of his oldest friends. They had told their families, which wasn't easy when both had grown children and when Kubwa was.. well, Kubwa. But in the end, everybody had approved and now they had a family of their own. This was why Wahabu was out and about, he was looking to catch something tasty for Shani. It was nice to have something special to do, someone special to do things for. It was certainly easier than it had been before, too. He had wandered quite far looking for something he would be able to catch by himself, keeping an eye out for any prey beasts.

Perhaps it wasn't prey beasts that Wahabu should have been keeping such a close eye on. In fact, Do'al could guarantee that it was, in fact, quite the opposite that he should have been watching for. Food was no good when you were dead.
Do'al had been following Wahabu for quite some time, one of the only blue-marked yellow lions that he had come across. He was fairly certain of his identity at this point, but he needed to be sure and he also needed a plan. How was he going to get the fool to willingly give him information on his mother? Maybe he could just play the fool himself for a while.
"Excuse me," he called out, breaking free of his cover, his face contorted into a false mask of worry. He seemed almost afraid, or lost. He could be a grand actor when he wanted to be. "Are you Wahabu?"

Habu, while no stranger to deception and trouble, never lost his trusting ways. So close to home, he felt safe. And so happy, lately, he wasn't even thinking that trouble might be on its way now. He wasn't even too surprised to be interrupted, there were so many lions in the area. He was surprised, though, to hear his name. He stopped walking along and turned to look at Do'al curiously. He didn't recognize this lion but for some reason he knew who he was.
"Yes," he confirmed, offering a friendly smile, "What can I do for you?"

"Uh, yes," he said, pouring uncertainty into his voice as he took a few more apparently cautious steps forward towards the yellow lion. "I was told that you were the son of Mtima, the goddess of Souls?"
He frowned and glanced down at his paws, feigning nervousness and even a glimmer of sadness. "I was hoping I could talk to her, beseech her to aid me, but I've.. no idea where to start looking." He looked back up at Wahabu with his worried, anxious frown well in place.

Habu's smile faded a little bit, but he only looked confused and surprised. Of course, he was immediately searching his mind for who knew about his mother and might send someone his way if they were looking for her. He didn't think of Amadet, he thought only of his family. They were spread out quite a bit now, his children, but all of them knew who he was now. Still, it seemed kind of odd.
"I am," he confirmed again, "Why do you need to talk to her? Is there anything I could do for you?" He wasn't exactly his mother's secretary but he could be nosy if someone was trying to get a hold of her through him.

There, identity confirmed. Now to just wriggle out information about exactly where this goddess was.
"Well, you see," he began, then faltered for affect, even going so far as to stare down at his paws again as if he were trying not to choke up. He drew in a deep breath as if to steady himself, then looked back up at Wahabu with a look that spoke of sudden determination, a second wind. "My twin brother died not too long ago, and I never got the chance.. to apologize to him for how I wronged him." It was believable, because the best lies had a root of truth. It was too bad that Roshan was still alive and, well, Do'al could give a s**t less for apologizing to him.
"I was hoping maybe.. she could bring his soul back long enough for me to apologize," and he choked up a little, at the end, his bright red eyes glancing away to hide his 'pain'. What a farce.

Wahabu felt bad, watching the lion before him looking so torn up. As he explained why he was here, he genuinely felt bad for him. He couldn't say he had a great relationship with his sister, but he certainly knew lions who did have good relationships with their siblings. However, the whole idea of bringing a soul back from the dead was a mysterious concept to Wahabu. He wasn't entirely sure if it was something his mother could do, though he had a suspicion she could if she wanted to. She was a sympathetic lioness, she might be convinced but it certainly wasn't something Habu himself could know without talking to her.
"I don't know if she could or would do it, you would have to find out for yourself," he admitted, hesitating before continuing, "I can't guarantee I can find her, she doesn't live in one place but she knows to find me if I need her." He offered an encouraging smile.

If Do'al had a conscience, he might have felt bad. He might have cared that the other lion had extended his aid to him in such an apparent time of need. He might have, for all these reasons, but the cold hard truth was that he simply.. didn't.
"Well, Wahabu," he began, straightening his stance up from where it was hunched over with his false grief, "I think maybe you should make momma come then, hm?" His eyes turned up to stare at the sunny form of the male before him, the false emotions washing away from him to be replaced with that wicked sense of danger that typically radiated from his person. He was no brother in pain, he was a lion out to prove his might.
He bared his teeth a little, his face all at once transforming to a wicked snarling mask, and his body hunched down low. In a flash, he lurched forward, aiming to pin the other beneath him.

The change in Do'al's tone was very obvious, and Habu's smile faded from his face. He too straightened up and took a step back when he saw the look he got. It was a trick, a lie, and now he was in serious trouble. He didn't have enough time to absorb what was happening let alone to react effectively. A stumbling leap away from the attack was the only thing he had time to do and still he was pulled to the ground by his lower half. Then, all he had left to do was attempt to get out of the other lion's grip. He twisted in an effort to push the other lion off while he tried to pull himself away, but it was painful and not as quick as it should have been.

Triumph.
Do'al cackled as he forced his weight down onto Wahabu's legs, claws digging into his flesh as the paler lion tried in vain to wiggle away from him. He pulled himself up, using Wahabu's body as leverage, so that he could loom over the Pridelander. With fangs bared and a growl in his throat, Do'al brought up one paw and pressed it hard against the other male's throat, hissing as he looked down at him.
"I think it's time you started screaming for mommy, boy," his words dripped with all the hatred he could muster, his eyes wide and filled with a madness that hadn't been there before. Still, he used his body to crush Wahabu beneath him, intent on playing this little game until mommy dearest was well on her way.

Spending too much time feeling like an idiot and poorly coordinating an escape instead of a counter attack, he let himself get pinned and failed in any attempt to push away the other lion's paw when it went for his neck. His neck just wasn't strong enough to counteract the weight Do'al put onto it and Habu wasn't about to just let his neck snap. There was only one possibility left and it wasn't as easy one, he growled, refusing to speak and made an effort to get his paws up to the red lion, hoping to push him off. He worked fast but stuck in an awkward position, he had only luck on his side. As he twisted, the feathers attached at his ear stuck out awkwardly, standing out brightly against his mane. One was pure white, the other white that faded into a brown that matched parts of Habu's mane.

Do'al could feel the weight beneath him beginning to shift and realized that he couldn't hold the position on the other male very long. With a growl, he was about to leap off and gather himself for another attack, when he noticed those feathers sticking out at an awkward angle behind the male's ear.
Sure, it could just be a coincidence. A male with a goddess for a mom and some pretty feathers tucked into his mane. They could belong to a bird for all he knew. On the other paw, however, there was a good chance that they belonged to that very goddess herself. At least one, if not both, anyway. With no time to think anymore about it, he leaned down and clamped his jaws around the feathers, incidentally grabbing a bit of his mane at the same time, and yanked back as he leaped off the male's body.
In the end, he came away with the feathers and a chunk of mane, but Do'al couldn't really say that was a bad thing. He circled the male, his mouth clamped tightly around his prize, and a wicked smile spreading despite it. Oh, this was fun.

Habu couldn't hold back a roar of pain when part of his mane was ripped from his neck and, in the process, his ear got a good slice. He moved quickly to his feet when Do'al was off of him but the way he had been pinned had hurt his legs and it made him stumble as he went. Do'al's circling around him didn't help him stabilize but once he was up he seemed bent on fighting back. Even if he did try to run, there was no guarantee that the lion would let it happen and then he would still be in the lands. So he lunged for Do'al, hoping for any small victory that might get him to go away- and, in a rush of poor judgment, get his feathers back.

Do'al would have laughed at the poor attempt if his mouth hadn't been full of the precious treasure he had just successfully stolen. He would have laughed at the terrible stumble, the ignorant hope, and that terribly, terribly judged lunge.
He saw it coming, of course he did. One didn't just stumble and lunge without the enemy being able to see it coming first, especially a skilled one. With a small smirk, as much as he could manage around his prize, he twisted to the side as the male came at him. He felt the brush of fur and realized his own actions were a bit too slow - he was too proud, he had misjudged it a hair. Still, there was little more than a brush of contact, and Do'al turned quickly to reach out with one paw and swipe at the exposed belly of his silly opponent.
He thought a god's offspring would be a little more difficult than this.

Wahabu was not a fighter, his main experience with violence was hunting and that didn't work against another lion exactly. The only other fight he'd ever been in was with his sister and, truthfully, he was lucky he didn't get seriously injured in that. He missed his lunge, but not by enough- He felt a sharp pain along his middle as Do'al struck and then he kicked out his hind feet as he twisted and fell, trying to get any strike he could in.
This was not going very well. Tetemeko hadn't known why he was coming in the direction he had led Enzi, but he just knew he had to. He wasn't walking but he wasn't yet running, there was no need to panic until he knew there was a reason to panic. He hadn't said anything to Enzi since he'd led them off track while they were out for a walk. He was looking around but he was almost trying too hard, as the two fighting lions become undeniably evident, he hadn't noticed anything. Enzi was silent for the entire jog as well, but he was even less sure about what was going on than the seer who was leading them. He tried to keep watch but he didn't know what he was supposed to see. He was the one who spotted the fight when it came into view, squinting and hesitating a moment as he didn't quite understand what he was seeing- until he did.
"Tete!" he exclaimed, nodding to Wahabu and Do'al, jumping into a run and leading the way.
