Through the trees, near the edge of his beloved territory traveled a large black and orange wolf, his eyes half closed. It had been a rather long day, Haku was starting to get rather tired. Alas, his duties as Alpha were never done. Recently, his concerns turned to his Beta Female and Hunting Captian. Niether were performing their duties and left him with extra work that he did not feel capable of taking on.
He had wanted to focus on Macha, as the wolfess was getting older, she was gaining beauty, but never lost that spirit of hers. Still, she.. Really prefered HanGeng, anyway.
A sigh left his maw as he moved through the brush, each step taking him alone the edges of the territory. His boarder guard wasn't doing much either. This was disappointing to him, mainly because he had high hopes and very much wanted to make sure his pack was happy and successful. If that was to happen he needed fresh blood that could take responsiblity and have power without corrupting.
But what was the best way to handle that? He didn't have time to go out and recruit alone, not with all of these responsibilities that he now had on his shoulders. Still, he was a strong wolf and wasn't going to lay down and let his pack crumble in any shape or form.
His head lifted as he caught new scents, instantly wondering if perhaps his wishes were about to come true.

Triton was well aware they traveled in the vicinity of a pack, they had been catching the scents of heavier traffic for a couple of days now but they had been careful to keep from actually passing through that so obviously marked boarder which stated stated 'ours' as clearly as any sign could.
Triton and his silvery companion had been traveling together for quite some time now, long enough that they had come to know one another well, had grown into a working partnership that as far as Triton could tell was darn near seamless. So it was when the burly dark blue male took notice of the alpha nearby he paused and turned his gaze upon Bryna. "Alpha's about" He whispered to her though he was fairly certain she would have noticed this herself. Lowering himself to the ground Triton licked a foreleg and waited for Bryna to choose their next course of action. They could back off and leave, continuing their travels elsewhere or she could choose to speak with him.

"I see him," Bryna replied, inhaling deeply. They'd passed scent markers earlier, but Bryna was a bit surprised to see an Alpha out patrolling the borders. That was a rarity, as usually other members of the pack were more prevalent in such roles. When Triton paused to lick his foreleg, Bryna likewise sat herself down, back erect as befitting a Beta. The Alpha would most likely question them on what they were doing in his lands, but Bryna wasn't particularly worried about needing to run. He would have attacked them already if he intended to.
"Greetings, Alpha," she called, voice calm. She would show her goodwill first, in the hopes that the meeting would go well. The Alpha's markings and coloring were unusual, but Bryna had seen many wolves-- Triton included-- with odd colors and patterns since she'd begun travelling south.
Triton would be fast on his feet if it came to a fight, Bryna knew, so she let her tail wag lazily once or twice, showing no concerns. They'd been together for many seasons now, and Bryna could safely say she trusted him like one of her pack. Considering how long it had been since she had seen them, perhaps even more. He had become her pack. Even her search for her packmembers had become more a reason for their wandering, than her driving force. If she found them, she did, if she did not find them, than she didn't. It was clear now that those members who had escaped had moved on to places she couldn't reach.((Sorry about the wait! It's been a busy week.))

As Haku came upon the two, a grin pulled onto his maw. A very strong female, he could tell, and a male that she seemed to value. She held the stature of a Beta, but did not carry the scent of a pack. It was a bold move, but rather than offending Haku, it quite impressed him. She obviously knew what she wanted out of life and merely needed to reach out and grab it.
"Greetings." The large male gave a nod of his head, taking in the sight of both of them. The blues of the Male were unlike anything he'd seen in his time, but the female looked as though she could be related to his silver Beta Male.
"My name is Haku and these are my lands." He did not state it in a rude manner, merely informing the two that this territory was extremely important to him. He would not let anyone in his pack get hurt. They were like family, even without the blood bonds. "I can sense no ill intent in the two of you, so you are to be considered friends here. We are quite accepting of visitors as long as they do not wish any harm on us." He had decided his pack would be like this some time ago, caring more about family and trust then murder or violence. Families were important.
"Might I ask why you have come onto these lands?"

Triton glanced up to give the male a slight nod of his head, but while Bryna might be willing to meet the other males gaze Triton was not, the burly male may well be quite capable when it came down to it - but he was also aware of his place in the hierarchy and had learned rather early on that it was best not to cause waves on first meetings.
"I am Triton" He introduced himself "And we mean no harm to those in your lands Leader Haku" he assured the Alpha although he left the explaining to Bryna, she was the official leader of their little duo after all.

Bryna turned her head to Triton, then back to Haku as she continued where Triton had left off. Although the alpha didn't need to know all of her business, Bryna wasn't beyond going into some form of detail so he would understand that they weren't trying to pull the fur over his eyes. This alpha was not exactly young, but he was clearly experienced, and in Bryna's book that often took precendence. A strong alpha was easy to find; an alpha who was wise as well as strong was a little more rare.
"We often try to avoid treading on pack toes, or pass through packs briefly to avoid misunderstandings bred by longer stays," she added to Triton's assurances. "I'm Bryna. Triton and I have been travelling together for several seasons now as I search for my packmates. We infringed on your borders in part for the same reason. I don't suppose your pack allowed any naturally colored wolves to join a year or so ago? Ones from the far northwest?"
Bryna had stopped caring who knew she was packless or far from her pack, and it made no sense to avoid the topic when she would want to ask Haku eventually. If his pack was as friendly as he claimed, than he would have no problem answering truthfully and would either send them on their way with a no, invite them back with a no, or in the deepest recesses of Bryna's mind, where hope still spun about, he would answer yes and reunite her with one of her lost kindred. That hope was more a disbelieved sidenote, however, and Bryna's face reflected no hope, only her usual polite, no-nonsense expression.

When he heard the male, he nodded his head and smiled a bit. They were polite and seemed to be rather pleasent. It was nice to have vistors that meant no harm. His attention turned to the female, however, when she started to speak. He turned his head, not wanting to let his disadvantaged ear affect how well he could hear the female speak.
"I'm sorry, Bryna and Triton, but this pack has only recently reformed. Before that, I was alone here.. After another pack broke up. Alas, I have not seen many natural coloured wolves come by, and those who have, have not stayed." He shook his head a little.
"It is a possibility that a member of this pack could recall meeting the ones you are looking for. My family has come from all around to form a pack here. If you wish to speak with any one of them, you are more than welcome to."
This time, he gave another nod and offered a reassuring smile. He knew what it was like to be without the pack that he'd grown with, but the femme didn't seem overly distraught. It showed strength.
"Or, if you by chance want a meal and a warm den, we have enough room for the two of you to stay with us for the night." They could stay for longer if they wished, but Haku was not one to try to guilt or pressure wolves into joining his pack. They would not be happy there if they were forced members.

It wasn't unexpected, and so Bryna simply nodded as Haku confirmed that there was little chance for her to find her packmates here. She only hoped that wherever they were, they were happy and safe, and had found a warm place to bed down with good hunting. It was the most any of them could really ask for in the end.
Her ice blue eyes glanced to Triton as Haku made his offer, and her expression seemed to invite his opinion on it. She wouldn't mind the den for the night, but she didn't want to agree only to discover that Triton would have been more comfortable moving on. She knew him well enough, she thought, to know he shouldn't be to adverse, but the last thing they needed was a small disagreement while in a strange pack.
"It has been a long journey," Bryna conceded, but left it there for Triton to finish off. Already, her stomach tightened with the thought of a good meal. Perhaps, with others, they could bring down a bigger prize than what Bryna and Triton often managed to get.

Triton nearly groaned out loud at the thought of a nice warm den and something to eat besides the small game he and Bryna were capable of taking down on a regular basis - granted he thought they did rather well considering it was just the two of them. They'd even managed an older Elk once without much trouble, but the daily fare was typically whatever could be flushed along the trail..rabbits, pheasants and the like. Thankfully he had the self control to keep from actually groaning out loud - and thusly spared the two of them whatever embarrassment that might have caused, merely keeping his reaction to a hopeful intake of breath.
"And we rarely meet others who are so hospitable" He continued after catching Bryna's eye for a moment. Heck they'd even been run off a few times. "Far be for me to turn down a warm place to sleep and a good meal" The male concluded before standing to give his fur a bit of a shake. Triton was a burly wolf, a bit bulkier in build and heavier of fur then some, but his muscles were well toned by seasons of quick hard travel and a build that might have labeled him a bit intimidating was quickly cast aside when one met his cheerful good natured gaze.

With her beliefs confirmed and her packmate agreeable Bryna's control was returned and she also rose fluidly to her feet. She was relieved that they would have a safe place to bed down for the night, without any strings attached as far as she could see. Haku didn't seem to be the trickster type, and Bryna was usually pretty good at ferreting them out on initial meetings.
"We would be glad to take you up on your offer, Alpha Haku. Other packs have had less pleasant ways of greeting us before. Maybe we can contribute something in return for your hospitality before we go, as thanks."

Haku nodded his head a few times, turning so that he could guide the other through the dens. "All that I ask is that you keep your good intentions." He nodded his head a few times as he moved off, going slowly so that the others could keep up.
"We have some meat from an earlier hunt in the storage den." He motioned with his nose towards a den that held their food and other important gatherings. "There should be both boar and deer in there. Eat as much as you would like. The spare dens are just behind this den. If you have any problems, my den is just up at the top of that hill." He gave another smile, this one a bit more gentle. He really didn't mind helping out others, as he was surprised by the lack of warmth of many wolves when he had been on his own.
"Is there something else you'd like?"

"Perhaps we can help on a hunt" Triton suggested as Bryna offered to repay the Alpha's hospitality, he as agreeable to such a token "Unless you have other work to which a stranger could put his paws" the burly wolf continued. Triton had once been quite used to helping with the more mundane aspects of pack life before leaving his family home to find his on way - and he wasn't adverse to helping here. Far from it actually - after a few long seasons of traveling it would be almost nice to have a more stable existence for a little while. For as long as Bryna desired to stay and Triton knew that would be the deciding factor...the blue wolf had grown quite fond of his stormy companion and while he hadn't actually come right out and told her thins he knew he'd turn right around and walk away if she expressed a desire to leave right this very second. Even if it meant sleeping under another cold pine tree...or eating more rabbits. Triton was very sick of rabbit.
"Unless Bryna has a request then I think we should be fine, thank you kindly" Triton answered the Alpha's question while glancing at his companion.

Bryna nodded and cast a brief smile Triton's way. As if he read her mind, the smart male.
"I would feel more comfortable if we had a way to repay you, but I'm sure that can be worked out later. I am sure you have more border to check, so conversation can always wait until after you have returned."
An alpha's duties were wide and varied, and Bryna wouldn't want to keep him from the protection of his pack. Certainly there would be questions asked if there were other wolves at the den, but she was sure she could hazard all of them with a minimum of scrapes once she had a chance to explain the situation. She turned and began walking in the indicated direction of the dens. The silent suggestion for Triton to follow eminated from her confident posture. Abruptly, she looked back at Haku, setting her lifted front foot back to the ground.
"Thank you."
