The stallion didnt often sleep at night, tho he tried. Sometimes it was simply because he couldnt sleep, most times it was because of the calling. Tonight it would seem that he just wouldnt be able to sleep, not that he really tried. He was walking slowly in the dark forest, head hung low in his thoughts. The bright colored horse could easily be a sitting duck for any random danger, but he was hardly afraid or could even really care less. He wasnt careless or looking for danger, not at all. He had just seen too many things to care. Things he never did and never would share with anyone. The burden was his to bare alone. Why, he never knew, but after a while he just stopped asking, and just continued to 'do his job'.

It was dark now; the sun finally said his Goodbyes, while the moon showered those below with her Hellos. Her glow fell upon the path in front of an Angeni, whose colors blended in with the dark trees all around her. The mare was forever wandering, for it was in her blood; she moved where the wind took her or where the moon lightened the way. Through all her travels, the mare realized that one part of her was forever in the land of dreams, while the other part was stationed in reality, never able to escape.

Silent were her hoof falls as she basked in the moon’s rays. She was alone; nothing there to disturb her or her thoughts. With the silence surrounding her, a song her mother used to sing to her before she left wormed its way into Isabliss’s head.

“What if I told you my heart ached?
Would you smile and say
My heart should not feel pain,
For you are here to make it better?
Or would you turn your back
And walk away,
Never giving me a second glance?”

The song did not help the mare’s mood, for her mother did the same thing her father did before she was born; left and never looked back.
She shook herself out her thoughts to stare at a colorful being approaching her, what could it be? Who or what would be out this late at night? Curious, she stood her ground and waited for it to see her.

He heard her words easily in the night air, it caused him to close his eyes as he walked, head still bowed. The song sounded so familiar that for a bit, he figured he was just getting lost in his own thoughts and memories again. He found an odd comfort in the eerie melody, and hummed along faintly even if he did get a tone or two wrong.

His head lifted a bit and he stopped, he sensed another being in front of him not too far off and his heart sank. He didnt want to open his eyes, he was afraid it was the calling. That his lost thoughts and idle wandering had brought him to another...

He took a slow deep breath and force himself to slowly open his eyes, for a moment his blurred vision didnt pick up the sight of the mare, and it would have taken longer had he not noticed the moonlight shining off her silvery wings. He nodded a bit to her, looking her over, assuming she was the one that he was here for. He wasnt usually one to talk, especially in moments like this but seeing as she was rather alert, he spoke softly, his smooth voice carrying easily, "Beautiful night..." He supposed his words could be taken either good or bad, depending on the person. Was it a beautiful night to die?

The colorful being moved closer, soon the mare was able to see that it was an Angeni stallion; even in the dark she was able to see that he was made up of an array of different colors from orange to purple to blue. Exotic was the word that best fit to describe the stallion in front of her. What was one so colorful doing in the dark woods and the moon so high in the sky?

She blinked away her surprise that he was the first to speak, but she did not let down her guard. What was he saying? There was a meaning behind those words that she did not completely understand.

“Yes, it is a beautiful night… but it is strange that one such as yourself would be out here in the dark alone.” The Angeni mare ignored the fact that she was alone in the dark as well, but it was a common occurrence in all her travels that she never paid it a second thought.

Isabliss slowly walked toward the stallion, leaving the safety of the shadows and stepping into the soft light of the full moon, her eyes never moving from where he stood; he did not seem like a threat, but appearances could be deceiving.

Requiem watched her walk out from the shadows carefully. She blended so well into the darkness and the moonlight he felt as if maybe she were nothing but a mirage, perhaps his delirium had set in. Maybe it was a trick of his mind but he felt so... calm around her, so secure, as if she herself were perhaps an angel. He couldnt help but to be so honest with her, where normally he would just as easily lie to 'save' her from the truth.

"I walk alone in the dark almost every night. It's not a thing I can help... it calls to me," his eyes shifted away as if ashamed. "Are you a dream?" he finally asked. "Am I dying?"

Of course his words would seem so random, perhaps even scary to one who didnt know his mind of what his lot in life was. Maybe it was his own heart speaking how he longed for the peace that death seemed to bring to so many.

Isabliss understood what the stallion meant about the night calling him. It was the same for her, except it was the wind. As it blew across the golden fields or whisked through the trees, it called her name, asking her to follow it to new lands that she had yet not seen.

“The night calls to many, with the bright moon above, it is the only company one needs. Not many can resist her call, for it is stronger than most. ”

Isabliss smiled at his question, it was fitting, she thought, on a night such as this.

“Dreams are but reality seen in a different light, so yes, in a way I could be a dream…” Her voice trailed off, a started look crossed her face at his next words. “No. You are not dying; you are very much alive from what I can tell. But may I ask, if it does not appear to be rude, why would you ask such a question?”

She smiled at the other Angeni, her posture was still guarded, but she was willing to give the colorful Soquili before her a chance.

An almost disappointed look crossed his face when she did not give him the news that he was dying, or that this was a dream. It meant he was awake, alive and well, and was more than likely feeling the faint call to the dead, which would only grow stronger the more he ignored it. He looked back at her, starting to realize just how... odd he must be sounding. How much he was letting his own guard down and how pathetic it was. He straightened up a bit and took a deep breath, a half sigh at himself. "Hn...Im sorry. I shouldnt have... I guess I am more tired than I thought I was," he shook his head softly, his long locks falling back over his bright blue eyes, almost to hide them.

He shifted a bit and took a couple more steps to her, almost as if to pass her. "I guess sometimes I allow myself to become weak...," he stopped moving. "Its a job...," and indeed he started to feel the pull grow stronger... someone... it was their time. "Death never sleeps does it.." he said in a rhetorical fashion before bowing his head to her respectfully and moving on past her. It wasnt that he *wanted* to leave, in fact he almost hoped she would follow.

The disappointed look that crossed his face startled her, why would he be disappointed to know that he is alive? She could understand the disappointment of discovering you are not in a dream, but in reality…. But why be disappointed about life? She understood the words he was saying, but they way he used them confused her. A question ran through her head, how could one so bright have such dark emotions?

The colorful Angeni moved toward her, Isabliss stood her ground; she did not step back, but stayed where she stood, casting her gaze upon the stallion. “How have you become weak? You are still standing and have control over what you are doing. Those who are weak would not have that kind of power.” her grey eyes locked onto his bright blue ones, “Death may never sleep, but neither does life. Look around you. The trees, the birds, the animals of the night: they are all living. We are surrounded by life; it may be hard to see during the darkest of nights, but it is always there.”

He started to move past, “Where will you go?” She turned and took a small step toward him, worried that if he left, something would happen. She still had so many questions to ask him.

“What are you called?” She asked the question to his back, since he was facing the dark trees of the forest.

As he walked it came to him that even if she followed, she would never be the one, it could never be. In fact, it would be best if he didnt respond at all. It wasnt his time to even be able to share his 'job' with someone. He kept on, ignoring her now as he slipped back into the darkness, it was simply better this way...

((Sorry Im going to end this here. Again, I applied to her 'phase 1' because it was the best that fit Requiem, not to jump through hoops to get to eventually be a possible lifemate. He is not a 'friend' type nor was he meant to be a lifemate so Im going to move on. Thank you for your time. ))
