Topher was hovering directly over his notebook, writing the answers to whatever history assignment had been assigned that day. It had been a long and arduous task and even harder to do legibly but he'd finally gotten it just right and just in time to have a free afternoon. Finishing off the last sentence, he left out a sigh of relief before stretching as tall as he possibly could from his seat.
"Well, that was harder to do than I thought it would be. Why do they always assign such annoying writing assignments? I mean, do they expect us to learn anything?" The teen twirled his pencil between his fingers, rocking the chair back on two legs as he debated what to considering that his dorm wasn't necessarily 'party central.' Topher looked down his nose to his notebook. Boredom was definitely not on his list to do today. Maybe a walk would cool his head? A walk would be a perfect idea. He lurched forward in his chair, nearly sending his pencil flying half way across the room. The bag against his seat was soon filled with all of his random school supplies and with a quick reworking of the strap across his shoulder, he was off towards the front door.
When he finally reached the outside world it was definitely a better choice than staying in! With the sun shining like that, the day couldn't be as boring as it had been before. "I should start taking afternoon walks more often when it's sunny like this. I'm sure its got to be some sort of proven mood therapy," he said with a cheery smile on his face as he bounced down the steps and continued on as he made his way to the very outskirts of the school.
Topher quickly trotted across the street, wondering what could have been going on in the heart of the city. With all the goings on, there was probably some interesting people watching moments going on out there but it was way too far to go for no reason. A short get away would have to do.

Serah sat down at a bench, a far distance away from the normal city routes. She had wanted to see what this new college was all about. She didnt care for the academic. No. Certainly not about the school either. Now that she had confirmed Crystal High clearly had better uniforms, her duty had been done. What was so good about this school? Clearly not their long-skirted uniforms. But the guy's uniforms.. Well they were wearing skinny pants. At least Hillworth had regular pants. For some reason, skinny pants were just so weird.
But it had been such a long trek here, she needed to take a long break before the way back. Hence the bright pink haired girl sitting on the bench. She put her arms behind her head, eyes faced up to see the wide blue sky above her. Ah-- Such a sunny day. So damned hot. Perhaps she should move to a shadier place.

It wasn't too boring on the nice little walk away from school for once. Barren Pines always seemed so constricting for some reason even though it was a fairly large campus. It felt good to get out and move around freely instead of being stuck in his dorm for hours at a time.
It was then that he realized someone else was close to the school. Someone he'd never noticed before. He was sure he would notice a girl that was sporting bright pink hair. Maybe she was lost? She couldn't have been a transfer could she? Though, it didn't make much sense just speculating. He picked up the pace a bit, trying to get close enough for her to hear him without seeming imposing.
"Hi there! Are you a transfer student? We're gonna need to get you into your uniform before you can attend. I doubt the teachers would take you seriously if you aren't suited up." It was the only logical explanation. Not many people came around the school without some sort of connection to it.

Oh. Someone was talking. Oh, talking to her? The late realization had her look forward lazily, another student stood in front of her. A Barren Pines student huh? He didn't look too bad either. Except for the skinny pants. That was a fact she just could not get over. Oh gosh, it bothered her like nothing else.
"I'm not a part of this school." She decided to correct his impression early on, a pale finger twirled her bright pink hair in a lazy manner, feet kicking forward and back in a childish manner. "I'm from Crystal Academy. I just wanted to see what was so good about this college. Obviously, it's not your uniforms." She said bluntly, eyes rolling back up to glance once more at the sunny sky.
"I thought nobody could get in or out. How are you outside the school grounds..?" She asked curiously, tilting her head, her bangs falling to the other side of her face, chocolate brown eyes looked up at the standing student in a curious manner.

Topher glanced between the girl and the school with an obvious look of confusion. "Are you trying to go here or something? I heard Crystal is a pretty good school already but you'd have to try really hard to even dream of transferring here though. Is it nice there? It's not like I'll ever get in considering the whole 'girls only' rule." He took the chance to look her over. Definitely Crystal material. Those girls had something about them that made them so, well, obvious. He should have guessed that she wasn't a new transfer.
At the mention of the uniforms, Topher stared down at his shoes as a sudden wave of self-consciousness washed over him. He always figured the uniforms were rather nice. At least they were comfortable enough. "What's wrong with our uniforms? I think they're pretty charming myself. The red plaid is a bit off setting but you get used to it quickly," he responded unabashedly.
"Closed campus just means that we have to live in the dorms. We can leave if we want. We just have to be back by curfew. We aren't one of those common day schools." He added as he shuffled over to sit at the far side of the bench, leaning against the arm rest. "You can go on campus if you want but it might be a little weird."

"Nono, I'm not going to transfer here. No immediate plans already. Crystal's nice, as nice as a school can get I suppose." She answered his questions, flipping her hair over her shoulder as he looked her over. She could guess what he was thinking. There just was a certain quality about Crystal Academy that accompanied most, if not all, the girls of Crystal Academy. Perhaps it was the natural air of prestige and snobbishness. Whatever it was, Serandite knew she clearly had it.
"Oh, they're charming. It's just.. well, I think loose pants suit guys better than skinny pants you know?" She admitted freely, the other took a seat on the bench, their conversation still going. The fact he was sitting on the far side told her he wasnt a playboy. Was he uncomfortable with girls?
"I rather like those 'common day schools.' At least, my evening hours are free, not coming back this whole distance, since it seems like it would take a good while." She referred to the distance as the distance from the city to the school. Although Crystal Academy.. Serah wouldn't label it as 'common.' "Uh. Yeah. I dont think so." She glanced towards the campus. She didn't want to walk in there either. Not only would it be weird to others, it would be weird to herself as well.
"So, what are you doing out here? You certainly wasn't coming to see if I was an intruder or not, clearly."
