Cadenza took a deep breath as she settled in her chair, light blue eyes slipping closed as the set the bow to the lovingly tuned strings of her cello. She drew out a long, deep note, and then another, and another, until she was playing from memory a piece of Bach's, one of his Six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello. Practice was usually reserved for her more impromptu, nontraditional style, but her nerves had been shot by the influx of new Freshman and the starting of her senior year, and something as familiar and beautiful as Bach was exactly what Cadenza needed to re-center herself.
It was early morning before classes, and the sky outside was still a brushwork mismatch of gray and pastels, the sun only just beginning to show itself, the lighting in the music room muted, to match her mood. Typically as chipper and energetic as a young puppy, Cadenza found that she had a rare need for solitude, at least for the time being, and she settled comfortably amongst the music notes, the only thing to keep her company in the spacious room occupied only by empty chairs and lonely music stands. She knew that given a few hours, the room would be bustling with activity and sound, for but now... it was her kingdom.

Alease was wondering down the hall way. She did not have to carry no instrument, she found it kind of funny watching the other kids struggle down stairs and with doors. Lucky for her you could not move a piano she she skipped that whole.... drama. She knew she was working with a partner today. Cadenza? she was sure that was her name. She did not mind really but she was very shy of playing in front of people. At school at least. She could do it in concert easy but I guess that was because she was a totally different person out of school. Someone who she just could not be inside. She was way too nervous, cared too much of what people thought of her. She then opened the door to the music room, a little bit early but not much, it looked like her partner was already here. Seemed like the had been for a while. She smiled and walked over to her seat trying to be as quiet as possible not to disturb her playing.

Cadenza was thankfully bringing the piece to a close as Alease Harlotton entered the room, and she offered the girl a bright smile, as was her usual greeting. She leaned her cello against the wall and stood, smoothing out her skirt and straightening her sweater. She was centered now, totally at ease with herself and her surroundings. Still not quite energetic, Cadenza was almost a different person in the morning, before she had time to rev up and really get going.
"Good morning," she said, voice clear and smooth. "Guess we both had the idea of early practice before getting down to business. You know what they say, great minds think alike!" It had been a while since she had worked in a partnership, and she hoped that Alease was going to be serious about this, even if it was just practice. Cadenza was far too used to have the stage all to herself, or being part of a grand production to be truly looking forward to this.
Still, there were worse ways to pass the time than playing music. "Any particular piece you'd like to work on? I have a suggestion, if you'd like to hear it?" And Cadenza sincerely hoped that the other girl did, because she'd had this piece in mind since they were first given the assignment of partners. "I was thinking that one of Beethoven's sonatas for piano and cello would be best."

Alease's eyes widened slightly as her partner came over to her and started talking, she was a little shy and held back. However she seemed to be nice and since they where on their own she did not see much trouble in speaking up and talking back. She stud up giving a small smile and bow before she came onto the stage area moving towards the grand piano.
"I guess so. I just dont like getting caught in the busy halls. Not a fan of being pushed and shoved you see."
She stated as she sat down on the stool looking at the keys and cracking her fingers, making sure to keep her back straight and prober. Making sure the seat was at the right hight and such.
"That sounds good. Beethoven is one of my idols. There seems to be nothing more romantic than a deaf musician... someone who can feel his music... So come on them. It will be a good warm up. However I was hoping maybe we could come up with a piece together?"
