Name: Mason Theodore Everheart (Theodore isn’t actually his middle name – in reality he doesn’t have one. But recently he discovered that his mother’s favorite president was Teddy Roosevelt, and has taken the name upon himself.)
Nicknames: Mace, love dumpling (all his best friends call him this biggrin ), Puck. Also, recently his mother and adoptive sister have taken to calling him Teddy.
Gender: Male
Age: Seventeen
Fav. Food: You tiao, or the Chinese doughnut – Mason’s not Chinese, but he loves these. They’re supposed to be eaten with congee or soymilk but usually he just eats the doughnuts first and has the rest as a “dessert” of sorts.
Hated Food: Chocolate doughnuts with chocolate frosting and chocolate sprinkles. Especially when accompanied by chocolate milk. Because seriously, who needs that much chocolate? (he likes chocolate on its own, though.)
Gift: Mace is a future Broadway act, all on his own. He’s a singer and a dancer and an ah-maaaazing actor, rolled into one. He tries out for every musical, every play, every stage production he can find in Destiny City – and he makes it. He has that kind of special performer’s sparkle that makes productions perfect. Someday he will be known all over the world for his talents. Also his sultry bedroom voice.
Hobbies: eating out - Mace loves ethnic restaurants. Not only is the food amazing, but he also loves sitting in them and listening to the people around him - sure, airports and malls are nice, too, but Mason prefers to listen to the people in restaurants - it's always when eating that people drop the bomb, after all, and besides, restaurants are where dates happen. The best part, though, is practicing his accent - he likes doing it in ethnic restaurants because the words on their menus are often obscure and usually hard to pronounce.
buying earrings - Mason loves earrings! He has an eyebrow piercing, three piercings in his right ear, and two in his left. While he never changes the piercing on his eyebrow, he wears different earrings every day - usually he puts one pair on one ear, and mismatches the other ear. Also earrings are sparkly and Mason likes sparkly things. They are super cool.
Virtues: easygoing ;; Mason is like cool with whatever – he kind of just goes with the flow, adapting easily to whatever situation the world likes to stick him in. He’s not easily embarrassed, and he believes that everything will be wasted if you dwell on what could have been. He doesn’t mind bumps and roadblocks because at the end of the story, the good guys always triumph. And he’s a good guy…riiiiight?
entertaining ;; Mace won’t let his talents lie there in wait – he goes into Ethiopian restaurants and orders in a Vietnamese accent, and vice versa, just for the hell of it. This applies in school, too. Also on dates. And especially while he’s asleep – okay well not really but he loves to joke around or pretend to be something he’s not at every chance he gets. He’ll dance down the street without a care for who is watching, and if he’s not singing a show tune, he’s sure to be whistling one!
empathetic ;; He may not care for what others think of him, but Mason certainly is not a jerk. He’s always been able to gauge the emotions of the people around him and react to them – hey, if racy jokes make you uncomfortable, Mason’s not going to crack any around you. His reasoning for this is that he has always considered himself a performer, and it’s his job to make you smile – or, if he can’t do that, then he’ll make you laugh, cry, scream in rage, cry, and then smile.
Flaws: arrogant ;; Mace is good at what he does. And he knows it. He strides into every audition as if he owns the venue, as if he has already won. That’s not all, though. He’s never really gotten on well with authority figures – hey, look, the people in command are a bore. In his book, you get respect when you prove you deserve it. He’s just barely on this side of rule-abiding, and will only ever listen to the directors of the various productions he takes part in – even then, he likes to have input. Loots of it.
all the world is a stage ;; And Mace is just a player. The boy takes this saying especially seriously – he performs everywhere. He does not have a serious bone in his body. Okay, this is entertaining and cool and funny. It is also one heck of annoying if you’re one of his flings trying to have a heart-to-heart. Or one of his friends asking what the homework is that’s due next period (or even just tomorrow). Or someone forced to (dear god no) collaborate on a science project with him.
The thing with Mason is that it’s extremely hard to tell when he’s lying. He doesn’t get those shuffled feet, those awkward glances, that telltale reddening of the skin. This is kind of a bad thing, since he does it so much – he can mix falsehoods and honesty with none the wiser, and he doesn’t feel guilty when he lies – he’s just playing a part, after all! It’s always best to take his words with a grain of salt. Or, you know, a cubic meter of salt.
fickle ;; Outside of theatre (and, you know, musicals), Mason floats from interest to interest like a butterfly exploring flowers. He gets into it, just enough to play a character who has it as a casual hobby, and finds something shinier to get to know. That’s just how he is, really – there are so many millions of stars in the sky, he says.
overdramatic ;; Mason can put that oomph into his every gesture, every step, every breath that he takes. This is funny…in moderation. You don’t want him turning every conversation you have with in him into a front-page news story – complete with wild arm gestures, dramatic sighs and racking sobs, and clichéd heroic poses. Unfortunately for you he loves this stuff. In fact it is probably his life’s goal to turn every story into one worth telling. But probably not worth listening to, especially if you’re standing close to him.
