The rather small rabbit headed the group swiftly towards the garden, his lopes long and with ease, yet his ears and eyes ever open for signs of prey. Although the air was chilly, there should be at least some flay-rah to scavenge and he wasn't about to let a stone go unturned.
The brown hued buck came to a stop near the fenceposts that surrounded the garden and flicked his ears back as the lot approached him. He settled in the overcast shadow and surveyed the lot that followed.
"Well, now, there are a lot of us aren't there? At least enough to cover a fair bit of ground. Keep your wits about you and keep an eye out for elil. There are bound to be plenty, from the winged to dogs and pfeffa. Don't let your guard down."
He seemed to debate for a moment, before officially deciding on what to do next.
"Taxus, Blueflax, and Faili, you three circle through where Frith sets. Inle'arn, Crow, Lendlay, U'tuhlroo, take the middle of the garden. Bramblebur, Foxtail, and Zelkova, take the side where Frithun rises. Search well for flay-rah and you will certainly be rewarded. Now go! I will go between groups, but I shall be with Bramblebur's group, first."

Taxus kept in line behind him, ears flicking to and fro as he came to stop beside him. He too glanced about, especially looking up. He listened intently, happy he was not with that embleer nut, Foxtail. He nodded and looked for whom he had been assigned to, then to the part of sky that was still tickled with a bit of the night's darkness. He nodded, then waited to be joined. "We won't fail you, sir."

Faili had kept up pace rather well for an outskirter, at least in her opinion. She wasn't about to brag about it, yet she felt rather proud of herself. The young doe had been practacing since she was allowed out've the burrow on her own terms, running around the tree multiple times to build up her energy. She lacked the sprinting ability of a runner, unfortunately, but stamina she most likely excelled in. She stretched out as their group came to a halt, and she sniffed around carefully, peering into the fence with watchful red eyes. She couldn't see anything of immediate danger, though she would be a fool to let that reassure her. The whole place reaked of elil. Of this "Pfeffa" or "Dog". She wasn't sure which, most likely both. She had heard stories of the two, the Dog stupid, but powerful. Could kill you faster than a homba if it caught you, and the Pfeffa who was the opposite. She thanked frith that the two terrifying creatures hadn't thought to pair up, or else nothing would stop them from destroying their kind.
Listening to her leader, she quickly learned that her and her brother were to be split apart. Her nerves finally bubbled to the surface as she looked for the two she was teamed with. She had heard of Blueflax before, luckily, so quickly gathered with him, waiting for Taxus to join them so they could set off. She only hoped this sudden dread would only be temporary. Confidence comes with experience, after all...

"We will meet at the end of the garden, bring all you can carry safely. Tis' an order, you lot. Get moving." He spoke briefly and flicked a tattered ear to the side as he observed them. He prayed dearly that none of Cocklebur's offspring died in this little expedition. Some of the others he could do without, but he seriously did not fancy having the captain tear him a new one, like he did that doe, Dewberry.
"Keep an eye out for elil. I'll do what I can to keep you informed."

Blueflax settled by Zelkova and Bramblebur and listened to Ginkgo's instrutions. He nodded then and looked over to the rabits indicated " alright then come along now. Stick close to your group and don't wander." he said sternly he waned to make sure everyone understood this was nothing like tje down and things can go wrong if you loose your head
Zelkova scoffed at blueflax he knew the comment was aimed in his direction most if anyone knew the buck better it was Blueflax he had seen where Zelkova came to be the way he was and knew he was on a hair trigger

Foxtail beamed with enthusiasm as Ginkgo put them into groups and announced that he would be with his group first. “Yes sir. Ok sir! Flay-rah here we come!” he kept his voice low, as he sat up and sniffed at the air. There were many unfamiliar scents down here and quite a few were unpleasant ones, but Foxtail put those negative thoughts to the back of his mind and began to search around busily for flay-rah as instructed.

Taxus found his group moments after, going to them instead. An owsla...and a young one? this would be good. The competition would be easy now. The officer was already in the owsla and the young buck...was just that. He proudly set off with them, towards where the sun set, but....ever so slowly, made his way under the fence at an angle.

Faili, certainly wishing to please, kept close to Blueflax, looking around nervously, her nose keeping track of any new smells in the wind. But there were plenty of them and she wasn't sure which was what yet, it was all so confusing.
She looked up to the large male, deciding what better way to clear things up than to actually ask. "Um, Sir, What exactly is it that we should be looking out for. I've never seen or smelt flay-rah before." She admitted softly, knowing more than enough about the elil, but not a hair of this amazing food. As she waited for an answer, she sniffed around at the floor, trying to differentiate smells from danger and non-dangerous things.

U'tuhlroo had travelled to the Farm with a sick feeling in her stomach and a lot to think about. Had she been a bit too clever for her own good this time? During the entire briefing she had glanced around, watching those that would join and taking some comfort in the fact that the large dark Althea was present. That fleeting sense of comfort came to an abrupt end when Cocklebur started calling out names. The sensible doe would not be around where she was going.
And it looked like she wasn't going to be able to keep an eye on Cowlsip either. But when a marli had approached Cowslip she had been stunned. Frith, was he really stupid enough to still go on a raid when he had a pregnant doe in his burrow. Males! He was just as, if not more, stupid than the rest of them. She had moved out feeling tricked, even if she had strictly speaking tricked herself into this.
But strangely enough the sense of unease lifted when they reached the farm and received their orders from Ginkgo. Her senses seemed to sharpen under the pressure and she focused on the task at hand. Big owsla, outskirter, half blind female and then her. Great. She didn't wait for being told twice before wiggling under the fence and into the garden, pleased to find herself among green stuff she knew would hide tasty roots below. They looked and smelled a bit like the plants she liked to search for on the down, but were much bigger.
"Does are better at digging," she said matter-of-factly, turning to her team mates, "You other two will need to watch our backs while we do. "
She hoped the owsla officer wouldn't object to this and started to dig up her first carrot.

Blueflax cracked a smile at the young doe and as they reached the far side of the garden he sat on his hinds to search for danger and finally turned to her and spoke "the man make 'gardens' of it and make it grow in long rows some stick up from the ground and others are hidden under the earth but you will see greenery to show where one is hidden, it will be the smells that you feel you can taste." he said looking around a second time "don't be nervous, keep your wits and your group close, you will be fine." he said confidently, trying to give her some encouragement.
he looked over to Taxus who seemed very calm and to have much of his wits about him and plenty of will. "see those little up-shoots of green with the wavy leaves?" he said pointing his nose to some lately planted baby lettuce "we're after things like that" he said as he rose to his hinds again to swivel his ears and look around yet again. a small rustle had caught his ear. though it turned out only to be a chickadee in the grass, he wasn't taking any chances. "go now and search the garden, voice down, ears up." he said though he continued to watch the sky and the grass behind the fence, the garden was open and he didn't want to be caught there by flying elil. or the dog. he knew pfefa was more the type to lie in wait and surprise un weary prey. it was that he was most afraid of.
Zelkova rolled his eyes at Foxtail. this buck was likely to get them killed if he didn't calm down, Zelkova thought of him as a hinderence until proven otherwise. though he said nothing, he nodded to the small officer and started off in the instructed direction, once at this end he saw the garden seemed somewhat sparce, a big spot of it had strange black shiny covers on it, mulch for next year, but had he known what carrot and turnip sprouts looked like he'd have seen there where plenty of those, never the less the green in the garden MUST be flay-rah, so he began to tug at the stalk of a turnip

Taxus nodded and laid low to the ground, his pelt blending well with the tilled dirt. He glanced about, looking for any cover that could help them here...it was almost as flat as his hind paw and as exposed as a newborn kitten. Slow...and steady. He snuffled his nose as he slipped passed the baby lettus. Those wouldn't feed a kitten for a week. He was here to impress, not shame.
Only twice did he stop slinking forwards. Once was to sit very still and put his ears down and flat before passing a wide aisle that seperated the baby lettus from different flay-rah. The second time he swore he heard a wingbeat and almost went tharn, but it turned out to be nothing more then a grasshopper taking flight and crashing into the nearby fence.

Crow was wheezing by the time they reached the farm. He hadn't felt this horrible since Althea had taken him on a run as a kitten to see if he'd be any good at it.
Well, as if he needed more proof, he wasn't. Rather embarrassed, he gratefully caught his breath while Ginkgo barked out orders; stretching out his legs to alleviate the throbbing. Of course Faili fared far better than him, as she was all into this Owsla thing, but since being free of his marli the most he'd run was to a patch of clover.
However; he wasn't stupid. He looked to the group he was assigned and then to the garden. Surely there was more to it than that? He looked around for any elil, ears twitching worriedly. And hadn't his mother told him about man-traps? He watched Faili hop off with her group and wished her well, though he felt rather confident she of all of the litter would do well today, and then followed the doe that had already let herself into the garden.
Stopping at the fence, he sniffed along the ground, wondering if one of those snare things would be around here. Surely the man at the farm had dealt with rabbits before and would have taken precaution against them.

Faili was sure to soak in as much information as she could from this owsla. Food in great rows, like small hedges of food! She had often seen the strange shapes men made of the land from the downs. She had never understood them, and likely would never will, yet from the looks of things, this strict order almost made it helpfull for them. Looking over at the garden, she could see different shapes of foliage all in groups, a little further on from the baby lettece.
Sniffling at the fence she followed Taxus' lead to enter the garden, her ears to the wind for any sign of danger. She crept amongst the baby lettuce, the sweet, fresh scent filling her lungs nearly enough to cause her to throw caution to the wind. It certainly smelled like the greatest thing on earth, and with a careful glance around and careful listening, she risked a nibble. Just a taste of the sweet smelling leaves.
She shivered in delight at the taste, but had to pull away. There would be plenty of that when she got home. Let's be sure to make it home! Ears and nose towards any signs of danger. She snuck through the lettaces to look for bigger, more delicious smelling morsels, all whilst looking out for traps or poison.

Ginkgo stood on his haunches, watching as the groups took off in their own, respected directions. There was an Owsla with each group, so they ought to do alright. His thoughts drifted to the other band of rabbits... How was Cocklebur and his lot holding up? A wicked grin briefly crossed his maw, but was gone in a flash as he took off after the first group he decided to keep an eye on.
As Taxus, Blueflax, and Faili move along, they will edge around a thick portion of the garden. There is a thick smell of flay-rah here, but also another smell just beneath it that might give them some cause to worry and stay on their toes.
Inle'arn, Crow, Lendlay, and Ut'uhlroo move down the center of the garden, which also smells thickly of flay-rah, and various types as that. So far, there is no real scent of danger, but one must always be on the look out.
Bramblebur, Foxtail, and Zelkova move across the other side of the garden. There is flay here, too, but the smell is not nearly as strong. It seems much of it has been harvested already, but there will be some to gather. It feels slightly more open than other portions and they have a little less cover by taller plants. It also seems there is some big thing sitting near, looking very much like man's hurdudu, but... More like a monster out of the old tales.
