Something moving in the emptiness
Something drew me near
Someone told me of my future deeds
Whispered them in my ear

User ImageTibarn walked quietly through the streets, wings folded to his back. There were a lot of people who wanted his attention, at first-- who wanted to know what was going on with the rampage in the streets, but Tibarn acknowledged them with a wave ant turned down side alleys to avoid the crowd. It was getting dark early, and the sky was a nice shade of lilac, but the air had a biting chill, and he slowly rubbed his arms to keep them from freezing while he sought out a place he knew.

He turned another corner and stepped around a puddle of unknown liquid, apologizing softly when the leaves he trudged through turned out to be used as a scruffy beorc's blanket. He turned another corner and looked up at a little building. In the dusk, he could still make out the words "Duke's Head" over the door, and slowly pushed it open.

"Oi, don't be trackin' mud in here, I just clea-- oh lords, it's Tibarn!" called a shrill voice from behind the counter. The place was a shoddy little inn and tavern with a bar and a few tables, and rooms upstairs. The owner of the voice, a dumpy beorc woman with a crooked noise and cheeks that were unexpectedly rosy, came bustling around the bar and threw her arms around him in a hug!

"Hey there, Helen," he chuckled. "Lay off the goods, I'm a married man," he added, holding her back. "You're looking good! It's been a while, hasn't it? I've got a daughter now, I'll bring her by one day."

"A daughter! Ooh, I can't wait," Helen giggled. "Alex moved out, went to run his own business in Bad Noving a few months ago."

"Lucky kid." Tibarn winked. "Anyway, I actually heard your boy had moved out... have you found a replacement cook?"

The woman blinked. "Well, we've had some since then, but no, no one staying on long. Why, hon? I mean, you can't spend your time bothering with us, there's so much for you to do, you big guild crew man..." She reached up to brush some leaf dust off his coat, clucking her tongue.

"I actually... I'm a bit down on my... well," he sighed, "I'm just a bit down. I retired."

"You-- you what?"

"I don't want people making a big deal of it. I just want a place to lay low and get myself... figured out. I'll fill that opening, if you like." The Hawk King smiled, scratching his neck slowly.

"... Oh... oh! Well, yes, certainly. If that's what you really want. Sure I can't... advertise it?" She shifted. Money had always been an issue, and saying the Hawk King, whose gourmet secret had recently become public, was working the kitchen...

"We'll let it spread by word of mouth," he replied, smiling. "Now, I think I'd better get in there before the dinner shift starts." He slid his jacket off, starting for the kitchen. "The regular crowd should be in soon, I think. We'll, uh, square paperwork away soon."

He hung up his jacket, stretching as he examined what he had to work with.

He took a deep breath. "Start with gumbo. Gumbo and beer-bread. Simple start for your first day..."

It wouldn't be long before word got around, no matter how hard he tried to conceal his new place of employment.

User ImageNight had fallen and the children were taken to homes while drunk idiots came out to play. The figure in a black cloak sneered as he smelled the stinking odor of a drunkard's breath who had came out from an inn. Didn't these drunken idiots knew they were polluting the air with their retched breaths and obnoxious farts? Seriously, how could he breath with these fools blowing horrid smells?

As much as he wanted to beat these drunkards, he dismissed the idea and continued his way. It had been months since he had set foot into the streets of Eyris. He wondered how the woman and her son was doing while he was away. Things did look a bit different from where he last came to visit before traveling in Estarcia. He wondered what had happened while he was gone.

Turning around the corner, he came to a familiar street he knew so well. The figure could smell the fresh scent of food coming from his destination, the Duke's Head. Huh? Since when Alex cooked so well? Maybe after his departure, but oh well. Food was food and he was hungry. The figure entered the tavern.

"Hey, Ma! I'm home! What's tonight special on the menu?!" The figure made his announcement in the inn, calling Helen by the nickname he had given her. He usually used that nickname to tease the woman whenever he came to visit her. What better way to announce his arrival that Rajin had returned.

Clara had just gotten her way into Eyris just before dark. She was new to the area so she needed to find a place to stay, and kinda fast before some drunken idiot desided to try and have a little fun with her and not in a good way. Though if trouble was going to rise, she still had a sword with her. The second sword she had brought with her broken when she got into a fight with a few bandits on the way here.

Clara looked around the city for a place to stay. She had tried a few place but they were either full or there were only rooms ment for more than one person and Clara didn't know anybody here so she wasn't going to share a room with a stranger. No way! It was now dark. She had a torch with her to help her see as she walked around and stopped at a buliding. She looked at the sign. It said "Duke's Head". She hoped this one wasn't full. She opened the door a little bit.

"Hello," She said, "I'm in need of a place to stay for the night. Do you have a spare room? I do have some gold, so can pay for a room." She opened the door a little more. Clara frowned, her torch just went out. She tossed it to the side, seeing as how it was of no use to her anymore. "If you don't have a room can I at least get something to eat?"

User ImageTibarn hummed softly, reaching up into the cabinet. "Oh, come on," he muttered, "Is this all they've got for spices?" He turned around, folding his wings down tight and grabbing his jacket again. "Gonna have to run out and hope Dave's still got the store open," he sighed, referencing the man who had tirelessly supplied him with the rare and obscure spices he'd requested.

"Be right back!" he called out from the kitchen. "I need to go get something to finish this." It wasn't a long way, but he nonetheless took the pot off the stove before departing through the back door into the alleys.

"Alright, see you soon," Helen called back, bustling around the dining room. When the door swung open, she looked up, then gasped! "Rajin, look at you! It's been a dog's age." She rushed over to her friend, laughing and poking his chest. "Hah, we'll see, we've got a new cook tonight. Not sure what he's making, but let's hope it puts a little meat on you. Could stand to gain a little weight! Might help you find yourself a lady!" She laughed softly, pointing him to his usual table. "You gonna be wanting a place to stay, or just stopping in for dinner?" She waved him over to his table as she quickly went on to greet Clara, all smiles. The widow's inn wasn't much, certainly, a bit run-down and weathered, but the people who went there went because it's where they'd been going for years and they knew they could count on Helen's smile.

"Welcome to the Duke's Head, dear, come on inside," she sighed happily. The only thing better than old customers was new customers! "Of course we've spare rooms, but why don't you have a seat, dinner will be ready in a bit. I'm Helen, just let me know if you need anything." The little woman quickly waddled over to the door to greet the regular crowd as they made their way in, calling for drink orders as her brother Ralph wandered down, poorly shaven, and headed for the taps behind the bar.

The sound of the kitchen door opening and closing could be heard dimly in the dining room over the dull roar of monotonous conversation. The smell of simmering gumbo and, more importantly, delicious, sweet beer bread began to waft in. He'd started the beer bread hours ago, fortunately, so it was close to done now.

Shortly thereafter, a little door where the wall met the service counter opened up, and the first bowls of gumbo slid out.

User Image "It sure is, Ma." Rajin laughed as he watched Helen approached to him and received a poke in the chest. It felt tickled as he smirked. His ears then twitched when he heard the news.

"New cook, huh?" Rajin smirked as he rubbed his chin. "Hmm... That would explain the smell smelling so delicious. I thought Alex improved his cooking skill. It's too bad he isn't here. Alex still insists about giving me a bone." He let out a laugh at that comment.

When he heard Helen commented about his weight, Rajin let out a scowled frown. "Aw, Ma! I still manage my weight. There's no need to worry about my diet. As for finding myself a lady, I still have plenty of time to do that. Besides, there are places I like to explore and adventures to try out before I settle down."

He let out his signature smirk, a smile that shown his canine tooth out. Same old Helen. Treating him like a son whenever he visited her. Not that he couldn't do anything, but it was great to go back to the place he was familiar with. Rajin sat down in his usual table, despite the crowd in the inn. Did Helen know he was coming? He sure didn't send her any messages to her. He was too lazy to do it.

"Might be staying for couple of days before roaming again." Rajin answered. "Just thought I might hang out for a while. But in the meantime, you should be helping with your customers. Don't want the crowds to get jealous of me hanging out with you, Ma. After all, no one wants their gorgeous woman like you spending time over little old me."

He let out a hearty laughed as he watched Helen left to greet an upcoming customer. It seemed that the customer was a traveler and new. Well, it was nice to see a new customer. Regular customers was fine, but sometimes he found it boring from them. It was nice to have a new face around.

Speaking about new face, he wondered who was the new cook Helen hired. He listened carefully. He could hear the swinging of the kitchen door back and forth, despite the conversations from the crowd. So, it seemed that the cook was busy cooking. Should he check out this cook or not?.... Nah. Maybe after eating he would. But for now, he was hungry.

Clara smiled a bit. She found a place to stay for the night. Helen seemed like a nice enough person. She had that, motherly aura around her. She walked into the place and looked around. It wasn't too bad, so it was a little worn down, but still it was better than where she would have been if this place was full, outside alone trying not to get used for pleasure by some drunk men.

Clara took a seat at a empty table. She tightened up the sash to make sure her sword wasn't going to fall off her left hip. She would hate to lose the only weapon she had left on her. The smell of the food was entering her nose. She licked her lips. She was hungry. The last time she ate was a bit before dusk. She stomach growled a little.

"That food smells good," She said, "I wonder how well it tastes." She got up and grabbed a bowl of gumbo and went back to her table. She let the smell of the gumbo enter her nose again before she picked up a spoon scooped up some of the gumbo and let the food enter her mouth. Clara formed a smile on her face as she tasted the flavors. She swallowed what she ate.

"Oh this is good." She said, "This is the best thing I've had in a few months." She continuned to eat her meal with a smile on her face.

[Timeskip!]

User ImageSince Tibarn had started work in mid-October, news of the improvements in cuisine had gotten around, and more money was pouring in as new, curious customers found their way to the little back street tavern. The Hawk chef was enjoying a sense of anonymity, but was wary-- with word spreading, it was only a matter of time before some nosy b*****d FEFer came snooping around.

Sure, the job wasn't glamorous. It wasn't at all bad, though, and offered him the chance to practice his craft, without the pressure of performing on the battlefield. Of fighting. Of being a weapon.

So why hadn't his nightmares ended? He rubbed his eyes, leaning against the wall in the kitchen for a moment before a scrap of paper with a breakfast order slid through the little slot in the wall. That was the really nice thing about this kitchen: it was mostly closed, nobody could move around to see who was inside unless they tried really hard at it. Orders came in through a narrow slot and dishes went out through a little swinging door at the end of the bar.

Hard-boiled egg. Pancakes. He poured his special buttermilk batter into a pan, one, two, three, and carefully dropped an egg into a pot of boiling water, keeping his eye on it and counting under his breath. Maybe I'm just stressed, he thought, rubbing his eye again. Things had been a bit rough lately at home. Ayra obviously thought he was an idiot for leaving the crew, and had no reservations about saying so. Vah complained that she missed seeing her daddy during the day, too. Another slip of paper fell through the slot, and he took it as a reprieve from his thoughts. He quickly flipped the pancakes and let them finish before sliding them onto a plate, then cut a few slices off the loaf of bread he'd made an hour earlier, buttered them, and then carefully put them into a pan to toast. He reached the end of his uninterrupted countdown and took the first egg out as he dropped another in, then put the egg into a little cup on the plate with the pancakes. A large breakfast sausage joined the rest on the plate, and he opened the flap and pushed it all out onto the bar. "Egg and sausage," he called through the wall, then turned back to the pan and turned the bread to make sure it was evenly toasted.

Perhaps it was still the business with Dietrich. Every time he or Ayra mentioned her drunkard grandson, it led to another little spat. 'Course, that's usually because I get snarky about him. At the very least, they'd been managing to make up and get over any fights before he went to work the next morning. Perhaps he'd take his next holiday to spend time with Vah and maybe get to know Dietrich. Make Ayra happy, hopefully. He startled as he realized he'd been standing still for over a minute, and he pulled the egg from the pot quickly. He held it in his hand for a moment, gently moving it, testing the way it felt. Firm white, runny yolk. He placed it carefully in an egg cup and flipped the toast out of the pan, then quickly cut it into strips and put it all on the plate with yet another large sausage. After a moment, he added a bit of a red spice to the end of each strip of toast. This would add a bit of heat to the flavor of the yolk, once they were mixed. Satisfied, he pushed open the slat and shoved the plate through onto the bar, calling, "Wake-Up egg and soldiers!"

He turned, stretching, and smiled to himself for a moment, then glanced to his right. Three more orders in the little box below the slot.

He sighed softly and grabbed his spatula.

User ImageThe morning sun rose over the rooftops of Eyris. As it cast its light over the Duke's Head rooftop, Rajin stirred a bit from his sleeping form.

He let out a yawn as he stretched his body to shake the aches off. He shook his head a bit before observing his surroundings. "Morning already? Damn, must be the cold weather screwing my sleep. Hope the old windbag gets here."

It had been over a month since Rajin came to Eyris, waiting for the old auditor to come. He had made business with that man over the past two years, making deals of treasure hunting; him going on adventures to seek treasures and artifacts while the auditor just gave him information of the treasures' locations and made offers with the customers. Rajin didn't care if he received little payment from the auditor. As long as he could travel the land and seek adventures, that was all he needed. Now, if only the old windbag came. This was the usual meeting place where they made their deal.

While waiting for the auditor to come, Rajin had scurried around the city, taking petty odd and uninteresting jobs. It wasn't exciting, but he needed something to keep him occupy from boredom. Man, this city needed to live it up a notch. Besides odd jobs, Rajin mostly lounged around doing nothing, especially at the rooftop of Duke's Head. And sometimes at night, he would go to different taverns to get drinks that mostly got him into bar brawls, which he mostly won. Apparently, one of his bar brawls was with the drunken captain of the Watch. Heh, he had to admit that drunkard put up a good fight, even if Rajin was going easy on him. Too bad he had to run off when the captain's buddies came to arrest him. It was a good thing he could easily blend into the night. The nighttime was always his camouflage no matter what.

A low growl was heard from his stomach. Rajin let out a silent curse as he placed his hand over his stomach. He had forgotten to eat dinner last night and he had very little money to pay for breakfast. The smell of the breakfast came to his nose, making his stomach growled even hungrier. Damn that cook for making him more hungry than he was. Even though he was hungry, Rajin admitted that the cook had very fine skill at culinary.

Ever since Helen told him about the new cook, business at the Duke's Head was booming. Probably mostly to try the cook's food then wanting to stay in an inn. Why, even he went to the Duke's Head to have some of his cooking two times per day. Man, that cook could cook...

Just then, a mischievous smile curled up in his lips. He cocked his head over his shoulder to look over at the rooftop where the kitchen was located below the second story. He smirked. "Well, let's see how good the cook is at catching thieves."

Rajin liked to do that sometimes whenever he came to visit Eyris. He usually liked the expression on Alex's face whenever he snatched something from the kitchen. Partly due to having low cash and hunger, but it was mostly for the fun. And even though Alex would sometimes get upset about him stealing food, Helen didn't mind Rajin. The woman knew that he would pay her back later by adding extra money whenever he ordered food. That was one of the quirks he liked about Helen. Never get upset at him when it came to her business. Now to test the cook's ability.

Rajin grabbed his black cloak and wrapped it around him as he got up and jumped off the roof and slid down the drainpipe. When he reached the ground, he placed his hood over his head and headed toward the back alley. Once he reached the door to the entrance of the kitchen, he let out a smirk.

"Okay, it's showtime." Rajin quietly opened the door and sneaked into the kitchen. His movement were very quiet and subtle, as if he was a ghost. The aroma of food came to his nose, making him more hungry than he was before. Damn the cook for cooking delicious food. If he wasn't so hungry, he would have done it for fun. Scanning the area around to see what he could steal, he finally saw the back of the cook.

Now this was something he didn't expect to see. A cook with brown wings. So that would mean the cook must be a hawk laguz. Huh? He would never expect a laguz to be cooking for groups of humans. There were still unsettled issues between the two races. Then again, this was a different world he was in than his home world. Well, since the cook was a laguz, that made his fun more exciting.

Let's see how good your hearing is. Rajin thought as he looked around more. There, on the counter, was a large plate of sausages. A mischievous smirk formed in his face. Perfect, he had found the object to steal. Now it was time for the fun to begin. Rajin hoped that Helen didn't tell the new cook about his little thieving trick. It wouldn't be fun at all if the woman ratted him out.

As the sun rose to start the new day. As the light peaked through the window, Clara opened her eyes slowly. She yawned a little bit as she sat up and stretched her arms.

Poking out from the covers was her sword. She slept with her sword, for she didn't know if anyone was going to try to take advantage of her. She was a young woman that had an innocent look in her eyes. That would make her a good target for a lot of men, like the bandits that tried to attack her on her way to Eyris.

"Ah," She said, "Best sleep I had in a while. Then again I've been sleeping mostly on the ground for the past few months, so a bed is a nice thing to sleep on." She then got out of the bed. She looked in the mirror. She had a little bed head. She combed it out before putting it in a pony tail. She then put on her blue stockings and shoes. She then grabs her sword and tied the belt around her waist so that the sword was sitting on her left hip. She wasn't going to leave the room with out it. She made sure the bed was straightened up. She was taught to make sure everything was straightened out before she left the room. Though she was sure someone would take care of it, she would rather do it herself. After she was done she left the room.

Clara made her way to the dinning area. Oh she could smell the meal. Her stomach growled. She was ready for a nice breakfast. She had enjoyed the meals that the cook was making. Though she was curious to find out who this cook was. She had a few thoughts about what this cook might look like, but no of them were really close to the looks of the Hawk King. She ordered up her meal and it came a few minutes later. 2 eggs, some toast, bacon, with some juice. She enjoyed the meal just like the other meals.

"Pardon me but," She said, "Is there a chance I can see the cook to thank him personally for the great food he's been making? If it's not too much trouble." She was really sure that no would be the answer she got but, she really wanted to know who was the person making the meals. She was a curious person.

Helen was bustling around, busy with the new breakfast crowd. She had a breakfast crowd! It was weird to be able to say that, but she loved to do so whenever possible. It felt damn good! When she was approached by Clara, she blinked, then smiled apologetically. "Ah, well, it's a wonderful thought that you'd like to thank him, but he's very secretive. We don't let anyone in the kitchen or tell them his name, it's just part of his, uh... stip... whatevers, I had to agree to them so he'd take the job." He shrugged, carrying a tray of dirty plates back to the bar to pass them off to the new dishwasher-- she could afford to hire a dishwasher!-- and turned back to Clara. "I'm really sorry. But, if you want to thank him, I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you wrote him a note and I can put it through the order slot. Er, you can write, right?"

User ImageTibarn hummed softly to himself, but as Rajin moved through the small kitchen behind him, his ears twitched. He sighed, waiting a moment, then flipped the knife he was using to carve a ham hock over and casually turned. He was accurate with a knife, but in a chef way. Perhaps an assassin would have slammed the tip of the knife down threateningly between Rajin's fingers. Tibarn brought it down into one of the sausages, then turned it over again in his hand, holding the limp tube of meat on the tip of his sharp knife. "Now boy, your skin and flesh might seem pretty strong and firm sometimes, but let's face facts. It's gonna proved about as much resistance as this sausage you were reaching for." He gave Rajin a tight, terse smile that his eyes didn't share.

"I go to pretty great lengths to keep my privacy here," he said. "I'm willing to let this go if you scamper on out and never say a word to anyone. Sure this is all just a misunderstanding, hm? 'Course, if word gets out I'm cooking here, you'll be the first one I'll come after." Without missing a beat, still facing Rajin, he picked up a spatula and flipped three pancakes over on the griddle.

"If you don't know me, even better." He paused for a moment, looking at the knife, then gestured to Rajin. "Here, take the sausage if you want it, I'm busy." He turned and picked up a little bottle, then shook it by his ear, frowning. "Hm, okay, that's empty," he said, before reaching up to open a cupboard and searching through its contents for a few minutes.

"Damnit. Damn, damn. Alright, boy, you still here? Fine. You can do me a favor, I'll make you a free lunch for it." He took a few more empty spice bottles out of the cupboard and checked the labels. "Take these out to the market and get them refilled. Should run you a couple of gold pieces," he added, reaching into a pouch on his belt and producing five small gold coins. "Come right back, don't let people see you come in here. Like I said. I like my privacy."

User ImageJust as Rajin was about to snatch the link of sausages, a knife plunged into the meat between his fingers. This made him jerked his head back before looking up to the wielder of the knife. Standing before him was the cook. Though the cook looked like he appeared to be mid-twenties to mid-thirties, Rajin knew fully well that the hawk laguz was older than he seemed. In addition, he seemed to have an aura of leadership and authority around him. Where did that guy have that aura?

Huh? So this fellow does have good hearing. Rajin thought. It didn't really surprise him if he was being spotted or not. After all, he was only trying to test the cook's ability. Now that he saw it, he wondered what would the cook do. If it what he thought the cook would do, that would bring more exciting.

His ears began to twitch when he heard the cook calling him a boy. Boy? He thought annoyingly. I'm a lot older than you think I am.

"Oh, really..." Rajin replied with a smirk. "Well, I can assure you that I have a lot more resistance than you think I have."

When he heard the cook informing him that he was going to let him go, Rajin closed his mouth. How disappointing. This guy was going too soft for his liking. Somehow, he started to miss Alex's temper over his "stealing."

However, he was curious of what the cook meant by privacy. Was this guy trying to hide from someone or was he just a snotty guy who liked to keep his privacy to himself? Well, whatever that cook's problem was, he wasn't going to butt in. He didn't know him nor did he care about him. Just disappointed that the cook didn't put up some resistance.

But just as he was about to leave, Rajin heard the cook called him. Turning around, he saw something flying toward him. Rajin caught it in his hands and looked down. It was the sausage that he tried to steal from the cook. His ears twitched a bit when he looked down annoyingly at the sausage before squeezing it. Pieces of sausages crumbled down to the floor as he shook his fist. Was that cook trying to mock him? Thinking that he was some sort of petty thief? Sure, he was hungry when he woke up, but he had pride in himself. Hell, he wouldn't dare try to rip Helen out of business due to some misunderstanding.

"You think I'm that petty to go this low?" Rajin muttered lowly as he looked up to the cook who was busy looking through the cabinets. Before he could shout, the cook talked to him, telling him to do him a favor. Few seconds later, Rajin had empty spice bottles and gold coins in his hands. If it was anime, he would have a vein popping out of his forehead. First a petty thief, and now an errand boy who couldn't afford his own meal? Angry pride boiling through his veins as his shoulders shook.

User Image"That's it!" Rajin shouted as he let the bottles and coins dropped to the floor. His right arm coiled behind before it was being flung, shooting straight at the cook's left cheek. Usually, he would hold back his strength whenever he fought with others. But since the cook was a laguz, there was no need for him to hold back. As he gave the cook a right hook, his hood felt off, revealing two cat-like ears on his head.

"Now I don't give a damn if you're Ma's cook or not, old man," Rajin glared as he took off his cloak, ready to get into a fight. If the cook wanted to fight in his other form, then he too would transform into his form, a black tiger. "But I don't take petty from anyone, especially from you! No one dares mock Rajin Cyphers!"

"Oh I can write well Miss Helen." Clara said with a smile. " My parents taught me well with alot of things. I'm sure he will still like the complement." With that, Clara made her way back to her room.

On the small desk in Clara's room were some pieces of paper and a pen. Clara sat down on the chair and started writing her letter.

To the chef who makes the wonderful food,

I just want to say, thanks for the food. I haven't had good meals since I left home a few months ago. Coming here from Leara was a long trip, but with the stuff I've been hearing about the capital, I thought I could try to help the people here. I haven't been able to help much though. Most of them want help from this FEF thing. I don't know what that is but, they must be good if alot of people want help from them. I just hope I can find more work so I can eat more of your good food.

Clara Risna

She seems ok with what she wrote. Maybe the person can help her out. Who knows? She stood up, tightening the belt that held her sword. She then blew on the paper just to make sure the ink dried. She then folded up the letter and put it in an envelope. She then left the room to give the cook the letter.

Joshua entered the pub and looked around with approval. This would be a great place to set up shop, pulling up a chair in the center of the room so everyone could see him he pulled a coin from his pocket and signaled the waitress.

While he waited to be served Joshua began tossing the coin up and down catching it, scoping out everyone to see if they were the gambling type

After buying a new hat identical with the one he had lost in Sentria he was a little short on cash.

Even more he was still confused as to what had even occurred he had still yet to piece together the entire story.

"Whaddya mean I'm not in Elibe anymore?" Farina demanded at the elder lady who had informed her of the situation and taken the knight between the time she passed out and awakened in a bed. "And where's Murphy?"

Of course the woman had no idea who Murphy was, so Farina had to explain. Unfortunately, the woman had not found Murphy. The woman had been very patient and explained numerous times to Farina how many people had been in Farina's situation and coped.

Currently, the blue haired knight was headed toward to Eyris. The elderly woman had directed there for clues and other opportunities. The lady had even given her some money.

Not even in Ilia or even Elibe for that matter. What a strange situation. Farina pouted as she used her spear as a walking stick. Good old Murphy. Maybe she could find some clues about him in town.

It was a bit of a walk to the town, and soon, she saw a tavern named "Duke's Head." With the amount of money she had on her and no knowledge of the area's workings, Farina decided to play it safe and enter the shoddy establishment. Besides, taverns were always good places to pick up news and business. Heh. She had frequented bars quite often, secretly, during her underage years. Fiora had caught her once and scolded her, just as older sisters always did.

"Heh," she mumbled as she took a random seat.

User ImageNo one was willing to believe it, but Leena actually did spend some time away from the forge and her creations. As of now, business was slow, as the craziness that was the fall months of Eyris was now much to a close, and no one felt the needs to be strong via magical items like energy rings or talismans. Leena had plenty of gold from the shipments she'd made to the Watch, the Guard, and FEF the past few months though, so it was time for some gold old fashioned rewards.

It was a shame that Leon and Magnet were both still on duty. Leena wanted to take the two friends of hers out for today with all the extra gold she earned! With the rumors flying around that there was a new chef at the Duke's Head (and how by the looks of it, this business flourished as much as her own over time), the magical jeweler just couldn't help but want to see the truth in these words on Eyris's streets.

Maybe if I like this mysterious new cook's culinary delights, I'll treat all of Dan's boys here! It's just another of many gifts I give them for defending our dearest city!

There were people from all walks of life in here. Although Leena hadn't gone to this particular Inn and Tavern, she'd seen others like it, where regulars and newcomers alike were welcomed as family. It was a place to call 'home.'

Here there was a gambler, a knight of sorts... and of course the employees. With her shopkeeper instinct, Leena gave a wave to the entire room, smiling before she took her seat. The Learanian civilian noticed Helen and gave the woman a fond greeting. "Good Morning, Miss! My name's Leena, I run the Sparkles Jewelry shop. I was just wondering if what they say about your new cook is really true... I heard he was an expert! ... I also heard he doesn't reveal his face..."

Leena thought of who wouldn't reveal their face if they were so good at cooking! There was only one person that came to mind...

Large?! No way.

She'd saw him this morning for sure.
