Sisters were Strange, S-t-range with a upper case S. He'd never had one before and hadn't bothered trying to figure out what they were until his father had come home with two of them. They looked kind of like he and Mtambo, what with their white coats and stripes, but they had color.
They also made really funny sounds when you chased them."Moshiiii." She squeaked as she streaked down one of the tunnels, trying to escape one of her two big brothers. This was a great big ball of Nofun... Well, alright, maybe it was a little bit of fun, but the last time he'd chased her they'd wound up in one of the NoNo Tunnels. She'd gotten tsked at and he'd gotten swatted for not warning her and then they'd both gotten a lesson on following the scents and markings from the Treadles.
Ugh.

 Hekaya hummed as she moved through the tunnel, keeping the words to the tune to herself. Mostly because she was making them up as she went along. She liked the way some stories or ideas came with music sometimes, when she was thinking about them or talking about them. Usually she kept the music to herself, and gave the words to others. This time, though, she was doing the opposite.
Mostly because she was alone, so no one could call her on it or point out how it was defeating the purpose or a story.
Her ears perked when she heard pawfalls and a name fill the tunnel, echoing. She looked up and around, then glanced over to the cubs headed in her direction.
She smiled. She liked cubs.

"You'd better run faster, Wa!" He grinned, a bit of a playful growl teasing at the edges of his voice. He wasn't moving nearly as fast as he could've, certain that if he really wanted to he could overtake her at any time. It made the story better to tell of a great chase, though, and he wouldn't deny that.
"I'm... I'm going to tell Daaa!" She laughed as she stumbled before starting to roll, tail flying up over her head as she landed in a small heap not far from the paws of a pretty blue lioness, eyes crossing slightly as she tried to remember whether or not she'd ever seen her before.
"'Lo." She offered a bit of a greeting, grinning as she tried to roll back down to untangle herself.

She looked surprised when the little cub, since one was smaller than the other, stumbled over her front feet and then landed in a lump in front of her. She looked down, smiling, lowing her head to nudge the little girl and help her up a bit more.
She laughed.
"Why hello there! And to you, too," she looked over at the boy. "Chasing smaller cubs down tunnels, huh?" She grinned at him, already teasing and she hadn't caught their names. Kids were okay to tease, she had learned: they were sharp and generally teased right back.
"I'm Hekaya. Who might you two be?"

"Not smaller cubs. Sisters." He grinned as if that explained everything. It didn't really matter that she was smaller if he explained that they were related, right? "I make sure that she doesn't get hurt, though. I got in trouble the last time we went down tunnels we weren't supposed to. These ones are all safe, right?"
Her tail swished as she straightened herself out, tilting her head so that she could glance up at the lioness from a proper angle. "He's Rude. Or Moshi. I'm Uziwa'machwa. Hekaya is a pretty name."

"Oh," Heyaka laughed, "pardon me. Smaller sisters, then."
She looked at the older boy, nodding. So he was chasing his sibling around. Nothing wrong with that, really. Happened all the time. She imagined the little girl probably got tired of it, though.
"Oh, sure, you can be in here. This is a trouble-free zone."
She beamed down at Uziwa, "He is a little rude, isn't he? But I guess that's what brothers do. I wouldn't know, though. You're lucky in that way! In any case, it's a pleasure to meet you both."

"I don't know if it's really trouble-free, though. I mean, we're here, aren't we?" He grinned brightly. Even if he wasn't really trouble now, there was at least a little promise of mischief in his future... Probably right alongside his brother, unless his brother proved to be smarter.
"I've got two brothers and a sister." She beamed, obviously proud of this fact. Family was important, she thought. It was like having built-in playmates. "But we're all family anyways, right? A pridefamily or something. Do you like to play?"

The Treadle laughed at the boy's words, shaking her head. Kids. They were sharp as needles. She nodded, conceding the point to him.
"I guess you'd be right on that one, though I hope you'll both behave, since you're in the company of an adult now," she feigned a stern voice, which was theatric and obviously not meant to discourage them from playing.
She looked down at the younger girl, nodding. It was almost a bit silly, the feeling of slight jealousy. Heyaka didn't have any family, so far as she knew at this point. But then again, her pride was doing a good job of making up for the fact.
And the little girl understood that.
"I do like to play!"

"Well... Maybe 'cause you're a lady more than because you're an adult." He glanced at the female, tail ticking as he smiled. Being in the company of an adult didn't always make much of a difference. Kivuli, for example, made a great playground.
"Good." She grinned, striking a playful 'pounce' pose before bounding forward to butt her head against the other female's leg. "You're it!' She declared with great joy... Not that she'd been it in the first place in order to have the right to tag someone else, but she doubted that Moshi would argue with her.
Nope, her goon of a brother had already taken off running. The brat.

She laughed, shaking her head. The boy certainly was a handful, she could see that much. But he had a point and it made her chuckle. She wondered how parents dealt with kids like this on a daily basis. It would be... exhausting, she imagined, if they always had this much energy and tenacity.
But having them in small doses was pretty great. She had to get more comfortable with the idea of kids before she even considered having any of her own.
"Oh," she looked down as the girl head butted her leg. She flashed a big grin at that. She was it, huh? "Well I guess you'd better get running!" She said, though she was already bouncing after the brother. "I'll give you a head start and go after him fiiiiirst!" she called back playfully.

"Heeey! That's not fair!" He scowled as he bolted away from the lioness's paws, not ready or willing to be caught that easily. If anyone was going to get caught it would be his little twerp of a sister. She was the slow one, after all.
She giggled with delight as she took off, bolting past her brother in a flash of colorful stripes. If she made it down this tunnel without getting caught she just might have a chance at escaping while her brother got caught by the horrible blue tag monster that was chasing after him. All she had to do was be faster than her brother...

She laughed as she chased after the cubs, letting them get ahead of her and not trying too hard to over take them. She didn't mind getting a good run. Sometimes she got so used to walking and sitting in the confining caves that a bit of exercise was a wonderful thing for her.
She charged, enjoying herself, laughing as she aimed for the boy. He was the best target, and looked like he deserved to be it for a while.
Bounding over to him, she nudged him with her paw, grinning broadly as she darted by.
"Guess you're it!" she called back. She ran after Uziwa, wanting to catch her and tag team with her against the boy. They could work together to make sure he stayed it.

Ugggh. He should've known that the girls were going to work together. It just wasn't fair, but he wasn't going to fuss. He was just going to get even... Somehow. He was 'it' now, after all. It meant he had to catch up with one of them, if not both of them, in order to lose that status. "I'm going to get you next, Wa'wa!"
"Nu'uh!" She flashed a grin at her older brother, skidding across the smooth stone beneath her as she came to an abrupt halt before taking off in the opposite direction. She was still small enough that she should be able to squeak beneath him and either keep running or topple him over or something... Especially if the Blue Lady was going to be a good distraction.
If anything, the youngster would definitely sleep well tonight.

Running along, she heard them taunting each other, laughing along with their fun. The little female suddenly changed directions, though, and that caught even the older female off guard.
Laughing, she moved to help her, wanting to be a distraction so she could complete whatever crazy thing she was planning.
"Scared of the bigger girls, huh?" she called lightly, prancing a little in her run, tail swinging behind her.
She followed after Uziwa, at a distance, just enough to make him worry about who to focus on and stop.

"Scared?" He made a face at that, just as startled by that accusation as he was by the sudden dart of color around his paws. "I'm not scared of nothi--" His words were caught short by a sudden collision; his smaller sister losing her footing on the smooth stone and skidding right into his paws.
She had expected to maybe knock her brother over, or at least make him stumble. She hadn't expected the big oaf to come crashing down on her as suddenly as he did and, soon enough, she was pinned under a big, stupid heap of white fur. "Help! Help! It's an avalanche and I'm stuck and... And..." If anything, it could be said that Uziwa'machwa had a very healthy imagination... For a Mtango'bui cub.
