Kinda like a folkish/storyish song. Lemme know what you think..
She was at the bar all on her own He asked who she was with, but she'd come alone And he wondered if he could sit by her a while And she gave him a yes with a nod & a smile
And they spoke like two lonely people would do Both looking for love from somebody new They'd both had loved and both had seen What the heart does without a paddle stuck upstream
Then he said Would it be alright if I saw you again? I'm a lonely guy, I could use sure use a friend Cause I like spending time with you And you might find you like me too Would it be alright?
Time flew by and they were so much older With a dog, two kids, and in debt up to their shoulders They had two little jobs, and a warm little house And a whole lot of love to go around
She was the mom in charge of the PTA And she was happy in her day to day For though they were not rich or movie stars She was happy from the words singing in her heart
He said Would it be alright if I saw you again? I'm a lonely guy, I could use sure use a friend Cause I like spending time with you And you might find you like me too Would it be alright?
They were just a couple in an ordinary world And old given him and her. But the world needs passionate people like that..
All things must get old and die And when it happened to her, he'd started to cry Let loose 80 years of fighting back tears Of a man's foolish failures and some leftover boyhood fears
And he was weak at the knees, had to fight to go on Because his reason for living was gone And he wrote her a letter, put it down by her grave And it was just a few words that he'd been saving
Someday soon, I'll see you again I was never lonely after you were my friend And I loved spending my life with you And I sure as hell will miss you too. So angel goodnight.

Record that s**t. Lyrics have no context without the music behind them.
But really, it looks like a cheesy country song at first glance.

I picked three chords and played this all the way through. Definitely do it in the key of C. It sounded amazing. Hah. I like it. Very cheesy, but very good. Hect is right. Record, my child.
