Dimitri trotted through the trees as the sun set on this dreary day. The twilight flittered through the trees eerily, creating shadows where there usually wouldn't be any and tinted the bark of the trees a bloody red. However, Dimitri noticed none of this. As per usual when he was alone, Dimitri fell into a meditative state of sorts, pondering about life's complexities, setting information in order and storing it away for later use. And for once, Dimi did not have to complain about the noise because there was calming hush that swept through the trees with the oncoming of night. Nighttime was one of his favorite times of the day; it was a time when nothing was more brilliant than him because he always seemed to glow even when there was no light to be seen. Like the sun that his mask was modeled after, Dimitri was the light that came on even in the darkest of times... or at least, that is how he liked to think of himself. Then again, he always thought rather highly of himself. Possibly even too highly. He called it self-confident, but others would just find him cocky; it didn't bother him either way... he never cared what other people thought about him.

Dimitri walked forward and came upon a vast meadow, who's heather-like grass billowed in the afternoon breeze. It was a painter's or poet's dream, though again, Dimitri did not notice....

(Sorry about the wait @_@ It always seems to take a little while for me to warm up for a new character to start working. Plus, I was waiting for her brother's owner to be picked/her cert, but both seem long in coming so.. yeah)

Jolon, Meanwhile, sat nearby, resting herself after the long journey west her other side had instigated in an attempt to get away from the cemeteries of the eastern colonies, the Englishmen and women of the coastal region and their gravestones and plots frightening Copena into moving ever further away from the 'civilization' of the colonists.

Jolon however, tisked softly to the shadows that had formed around them, feeling quite content to stay still. There was no point in running, since they carried her meeker sides fear on their back.

Tipping her head to the side, she let out a slow sigh, watching the stallion standing nearby, distracted by his thoughts, "You do realize its rude to not acknowledge a person when they're near by, correct? I'd hate to think someone dressed as nobly as you would be so ill educated." She sniffed, standing slowly as she shook her head, freeing her hair to fall down the side rather then be hitched up on her back.

Dimitri stiffened and gave a frightened start when he suddenly heard a voice issue from seemingly no where. He tensed, but relaxed immediately as he noticed the mare standing so near him. "Please excuse my ill-behavior dark lady. I'm afraid I did not notice you, for you were shrouded in shadows and my mind was wandering elsewhere." Dimitri took a moment to glance over the mare, taking in her appearance. His mask cast shadows over his eyes, shrouding them from view as he observed as much as he could in the short time he had, since it would be impolite to be silent for more than a second or two. He smiled graciously, somewhat intrigued by what he saw, and continued, "Perhaps I could make up from my behavior by introducing myself? I am Dimitri... may I have the pleasure of inquiring your name?"

((^_^ No problem... I thought you were busy, and that new characters were just hard to get the hang of... I'm pretty patient, so I never want you to feel rushed or anything thing like that! <3 ))

The mare, however, simply stood still during his fright and his polite, apologetic attempts at being conversational, the shadows wisping around her feet. She remained silent, watching him with a somewhat distant expression. pupilles white irises staring from dark orbs, peering through thick, drooping bangs. remaining so long after he inquired her name, not bothered by or possibly aware of the fact that not responding quickly could be considered rude while staring, "... Jolon. You may have that pleasure..." She finally blinked, looking away slowly, "...Odd that you would say I am shrouded in shadows, as they are more apt at pooling... Though a few cling higher up I suppose."

((I'm sorry for my own lack of replies.... o-o; ))

"And what pleasure it is indeed, Jolon," Dimitri replied smoothly as he tilted his head slightly as the mare examined him; she was so, unusual. He noticed her eyes, how they seemed to glow in the darkness, and Dimi couldn't help but be pulled in by her gaze, like a moth to fire. She was beautiful in a frightening way, and the more Dimitri looked at her, the further intrigued he felt. Of course, now that she was openly staring at him, Dimitri felt that he was allowed to stare as well. As he turned his head from side to side ever so slightly to look her over more thoroughly, since his mask slightly obstructed his view of the world, Dimitri saw what he had not actually noticed at first. Not only was there very literally a tree growing out of her back, but... there, arranged upon her back, was what seemed to be a perfect little replica of a cemetery, headstones and all. The shadows, which he had thought to just be part of one's every-day darkness, were actually rather more sinister than that, as they seemed to be living things. They did indeed pool around Jolon. Finally, as he finished his inspection, Dimitri smiled. He was always the one who would judge others by how they looked, and all signs lead to say that this mare was trouble on legs. But, this didn't really worry Dimi since he was now more curious than he was afraid.

"Well well, I've never seen shadows behave in such a peculiar matter. It is almost as though they are rather friendly with you. One who is able court with darkness is surely to be very strong indeed. Either that, or equally as dark..." Dimitri tilted his head curiously and continued, almost as thought wondering to himself, "What is the reason, I do wonder..." He smiled a toothy smile, his pearly-whites shining against his dark fur.
