Slowly lifting her head from the yin-yang of fur she and her twin created where they nested in a cozy little thicket deep in the jungle, the soft twitter of birds announced another morning had arrived. It was still too early yet for the sun to peek through the dense canopy overhead, leaving them shrouded in a weakening darkness. Sagasu had been restless all night her head too full of the possible adventures that lay ahead to sleep properly. She was eager to start traveling now that they were finally old enough to leave the jungle that had been their home.

Well.. really that wasn't the reason behind why they had waited this long to find a new territory to call home. Saga had been traveling along the outskirts and beyond the edges of the jungle for years, but her twin Himeru, she was so fragile. The skittish little female could never handle the outside world on her own, even with her sister at her side everything seemed to set Hime into a panic. She seemed ready now though, confident enough not to flee back to the underbrush with every unexpected encounter.

Licking between cream colored ears, the larger leopardess attempted to wake her sibling as gently as possible. C'mon Hide... wake up. Dawn's on the horizon.. we need to get moving. I wanna get some ground behind us before the heat of the day.

Himeru squirmed and whimpered as her sister shifted and sat up, the warmth of her body quickly displaced with the damp chill of morning dew. Instead of waking she wormed closer to her twin, burying her face against the sweet smell of earthy colored fur. Unlike the pale, leucistic female her kin blended perfectly into most terrains. A suiting feature given she was the superior hunter of the pair.

The caress of warm tongue against her fur was comforting in a maternal fashion given that the pair had lacked the attention or dedication of proper parents. It didn't matter much now, the disappearance of their parents leaving otherwise solitary leopardesses to become dependent upon one another. Shifting under quiet grooming Hime didn't stir until the other's voice finally beckoned her, lashes fluttering as she peered up at her sibling. Time to leave.. a-already Seek?

Groggy voice whimpered, pink nose twitching while odd eyed femme met the stare of Sagasu's equally unusual irises. There was a sorrow in her voice that accompanied the idea of leaving behind everything she was so familiar with. Hime understood her sister's adventurous spirit though and realized that Sagasu couldn't be chained here forever.

The uncertainty that tainted Himeru's tone made her question herself for the millionth time. Maybe she wasn't ready for this yet. Maybe this was a bad idea. Maybe they should wait a little longer. Quickly as they began to stir the melanistic leopardess stamped down her own insecurities. It was that attitude that had chained them to this jungle for as long as it had. It was time for them to move on now. Her smile gentle as she tried to reassure the other with soothing words though they were a little rough, leaning down to nose slighter figure reassuringly. C'mon Hide... don't be a baby! This is going to be fun! You don't really want to live here all alone do you?

Nipping at the ear closest to her she grinned and ambled onto all four paws, bowing into a deep, satisfying stretch as her claws raked thin lines in the dirt. Sagasu didn't wait for her twin to answer as she righted herself and gave an encouraging nod of her head, motioning for timid companion to follow her lead. Sitting around coddling Himeru wasn't going to much of anything but delay their progress and she was already growing antsy. Follow me. I'm counting on you to catch us breakfast before we go. Think your up to it?

She hesitated on answering longer that her sister would have liked. That much was apparent by the way Sagasu sighed at her in exasperation. It wasn't as if they hadn't been over this conversation a hundred times before. Himeru would demurely admit that she would like to meet new people as much as the prospect terrified her and Sagasu would rather blatently explain that without risk there was no reward as if it weren't a concept she grasped. Mild mannered leopardess understood just fine, it was only that they had never been anywhere by the jungle and never known the company of anyone but each other what if the outside world was as cruel and filled with abandon as their parents had been? How sure was she that she'd be able to trust anyone they met? I-I'm not a baby! Y-you know I don't.... want to be alone.

Himeru huffed as she sat up, jaws parting in a surprisingly large yawn for such a tiny feline. Her small shoulders rounded weakly in defeat, watching Sagasu swagger off. A familiar chill of panic creeping into her bones the further away her twin got until she leaped to her feet to scramble after the far more capable leopardess with a cry. W-Wait for me Seek! Don't leave me here!

Nearly toppling over fraternal twin in her hurry to catch up, pale visage was drawn with a wounded expression. How could Sagasu even consider abandoning her that way? Pouting sourly as she fell in stride along side the other and just a few paces behind Sagasu's shoulder allowing her to lead the way, rounded ears tucked against her head which was carried low as they moved through the foliage. Luckily she was easy to please, suddenly beaming at the request, her head lifting sharply to convey her delight. O-Of course! I won't let you down! Promise!

Fishing was the only thing Himeru excelled at over her sister and so she couldn't help but be delighted by the chance to show off her prowess and be of some use to her otherwise completely independent kin.

Ah Hime. She was so easy to please but then it certainly couldn't have hurt that Saga knew her sister like the back of her own paw. Likewise, albeit perhaps she may have been more reluctant to admit it, Himeru knew her too. It was hard to live with someone from birth and not know every minute detail about them. As such she knew Himeru knew that the offer was made at least partially in repentance given that Himeru knew she knew that her twin was proud to exhibit any skill that served useful to them. It was a far more complex entanglement of experience and knowledge than anyone outside of them would have understood, certainly it was easy to see how the duo completed each other and that was enough without knowing the mechanics behind it.

I know you won't. You never do. Hurry slowpoke! I'll race you to the river bank! Last one there is a yellow belly newt! Saga giggled childishly, prancing in place before taking off with a leap off the beaten path and into the uncharted jungle.
