The male was large for his age, and still growing he was sure to be a large wolf in adulthood. His pelt was a bright orange, a trait from both mother and father, though his markings were clearly from his fathers bloodline. His purple amethyst eyes glittered as he scanned the darkness for anything of any entertainment.
So far, by racing the birds of the sky, he had kept himself quite occupied. He was always so full of energy. He was always ready to start a fight though, when his energy wasnt properly taken care of. A daily run was a must, for him to keep Aunt Shezaam happy. He really only cared for what she thought, but when it came to anyone else, he could not stand the security. He was far too much of a loner, to be around the pack or its members. He preferred being alone, of course his father was the same way. He used being a Patrol of the borders as an excuse to leaving the packs general vicinity.
He stared up at the darkened sky. There were no more birds to chase.
Well this just sucked.

Though night had begun to fall fast in the sky, Flame's paws moved with a single-minded tenacity that she marked up to an unexplained curiosity. Her flaming fur glimmered and flickered like real flame when it saw the dying light as she moved through the land. Her build was petite and slim, though well-rounded muscles from her fear-induced running certainly kept her in shape. Now her tired legs ached after continuously moving for more than a day's cycle, yet her outstretched neck and flaring nostrils belied a strength that kept her going.
There was something sniff sniff, she reasoned. Something that tingled and soured her delicate nose, a uniquely foreign scent that was driving her near mad with longing. Had she not been heading blindly towards the Agua Azul borders and the ocean that lay beyond, Flame would discover that this was certainly strange behavior for her. But as she was, her mind was occupied in capturing the devouring smell of the salt-water, she thought nothing at all.

Something made him perk, and his attention was pulled instantly from the sky to the sound that had hit his oh so sensitive ears. He moved slowly, following the little path between the trees with ease as he inched forward to see what carried the paws he heard. He was only a little outside his packlands, and this unknown wolf was heading straight for the pack territory. He smiled a menacing grin as he bounded out from the trees to stop in front of her. He stood a bit taller, and he had almost magically appeared from the trees.
"Who might you be?" He asked, looking at her with a gentle face, though his eyes seemed to betray his face's innocence. He was a mischevious boy, and though he had no interest in wolves that entered his packlands; he was drawn to her.
He did not want to see her leave too quickly. He wanted some time with the pretty she-wolf first.
Her pelt called to him, and he watched it with his purple eyes as it seemed to be living flame about her back. She was gorgeous.
"You will need someone's protection should you go much further, love. You are approaching a pack territory."
Of course, if she chose him as protection, that was all the better.

Her panting breath hitched in her throat as something was thrown into her path. As sore paws jerked to a stop, her body lurched over them, and it took quite the effort to keep from falling literally over her own paws. For a moment green and blue auds could not keep focus on the bright male in front of her. Of course, it may have been something to do with the fact that she'd forgotten to breath out of shock.
Swallowing her fear, if only momentarily she watched the male's soft face, though fear still brewed in her belly at the deceitful eyes. Eyes were the window to the soul, she had been told. One could tell a kin or a seer, and though posture could be covered and changed, the eyes would hold true. What trickery belied his kind expression?
"Flame." The female breathed softly, backing up a pace subconsciously to undo the uncomfortable stance she had been in. Below her paws ached dully, gone unnoticed at the entrance of this wolf. "Oh. I, didn't think. I'm sorry." And she sincerely was, but her intense curiosity of what lay behind the border cheapened the words.

He smiled and shook his head. "Don't worry about it. Its what Im here for, Im sure. Maybe its fate." He teased, standing with pride.
"The name is Cyclone, and rescuing little ladies is my game. Its a pleasure to run into you like this." He said with a wink. Of course, he was a little pushy, but he did his best to keep his face a soft look. He had nothing really, bad in mind while he was looking at her. But she piqued his curiousity and he wanted to at least know more about her.
Of course, she was quite attractive, and Cyclone had always had the mind that he would get someone so pretty. She was perfect, for his perfect world.
But not moving too fast, he chuckled. "I could walk you through."

To protect her? Despite her entire body's desire to sag into the idea, curl up and go to bed with the idea of safety and companionship, her brain was still awake and high. Cyclone. It certainly fit him, the female realized quite bluntly, shifting when she moved from a patch of groping shadow into the dying light. Her own red and orange blushed a brilliant auburn and gold in the sun's last rays, but her eyes were set on his pelt. Just like the light the ebony crawling over his back and shoulders, riding them like a little beast across the pure orange. Almost never had she seen another wolf with such a fur, patterns about the eyes drawing her in and outlined black lips keeping her alert to his words.
He could walk her? Embarrassed, Flame was brought out of her reverie and her head dipped lightly as she remembered she was in company of someone. "You can bring me there?" She asked softly, calm voice betraying her intense curiosity. The scent that tweaked her nose was driving her hare-wired, and kept her from rationally thinking. A stranger at night, offering to guide her off into the darker forest? Sure!

His pelt fluffed with a gust of wind that blew past them. He smiled, shaking himself back down as he sat, his tail idly moving side to side as he spoke. He moved rather like a cat, but then again, his mother had been quite insane.
The black streaks at his eyes, helped him resemble some kind of rockstar. He had the attitude to be a one, however. Cocky and ready to go. He gave a little grin, nudging her once before stepping back and nodding.
"Yes, I can get you to the ocean water." He chuckled, and his amethyst eyes looked her over.
Her orange markings were swirled, and almost flame like. It made his desire soar for her. He grinned, and jumped up, circling her. His paws seemed to dance in place when he finally stopped.
"Come on dollface, we'll get ya there." He nodded with a wink.

Raising her muzzle almost unnoticably towards the wind, nostrils flared to catch the invigorating sea salt on the wind, mixed with the musky scent from the male before her. As he came forwards and physically touched her, the female shied away slightly, obviously not comfortable at the unexpected contact.
The ocean? It seemed right, and though she wished to try the word aloud to get the sense of it, she didn't have the nerve. Instead muzzle contorted in the pronunciation of the word, watching the other bounce about. Though as he came close and began to circle Flame's head dropped passively, ears pulling back as narrowed eyes watched him move around. Whatever message he was displaying, it was not received in the way he intended it to.
She was slightly cautious at the pet name, not recognizing it as an endearing term. She was Flame, and he was aware of that. Did she look so much like someone else? The confusion that crossed her brow was more blatant than she wished it to be, and hesitated as she waited for him to lead the way.

He snorted a bit at the way she reacted to his antics, and shook his head. Why couldnt she lighten up? In all honesty he was growing rather bored in the attempt at befriending her. Sure they'd just met, but he felt as if he was getting nowhere.
Oh no matter, he had nothing better to do. He motioned for her to follow with his head, and started walking in the direction of the sea spray. He knew how to avoid the large, dangerous cliffs. With his route, she would be able to touch the ocean should she want to.
"Come along, Flame. I'll show you the ocean." He said, and nodded a bit, though he carried an almost defeated tone.

At his vocal displeasure, she could feel her brows furrow slightly in something like shame. Wolves were social by nature, and as reserved as she was not being around them for quite a time, it wasn't good to stick out and not be accepted. It was like she was doing something wrong. Hurriedly the female moved after him, quiet paws keeping her just behind him and to his left, respectful of his position as guide.
The way he spoke had an easiness that the female wolf envied slightly, his carriage proud as opposed to her lowered and hunched shape. It was nice, but it wasn't a thing she thought she could achieve.
Flame opened her mouth to speak, but closed it quickly, thinking over her words around him. Anything that could and would set him off would not be prudent for her. "What is the ocean?" She asked, shooting a inquiring glance towards the back of his head. She felt foolish for having to ask, but her past pack was far from the salty air and abrasively cold water.

He may have felt defeated, but the male had not meant to make the female feel badly about it. He was raised a little more social than alot of wolves. His pack was large and had every type of personality you could think of.
"Its a big body of water, bigger than any lake you've ever seen." He replied, looking back at her, and slowly until she could catch up. When she was at his side, he looked down at her and offered a small smile, which was still young and like that of a teenagers grin.
"And it tastes really..salty, like the air around here tastes, and smells." He replied, trying to describe it the best to his knowledge.
"And its okay to not know, there are packs bordering these lands, like I said. That would make it very difficult for you to know about the ocean."

Catching up with him, the fire-pelted wolf tried to reply with a tentative smile, tail waving in affirmation. Dual-toned auds looked forwards to where he was leading, trying to imagine a larger source of water larger than that which she'd known. What fish would be there! Wolves could sit on the banks of this 'oceans' and catch for days, as they had in her old packlands. She tried to hide a look of disappointment as she looked back up to Cyclone. Even though his smile was young he was much larger than she was at full-grown.
Ears flickered forwards curiously as he described the sea, giving a hesitant nod of understanding. Even now her mouth watered slightly at the subtle change from the inland forests, her nose still arrested by the smell. "Is this your pack?" She asked softly, knowing they had passed into claimed territory by the scent markers kept at the borders. Here, the forest was much quieter, and smelled more like wolves. Suddenly she was uneasy once more at the prospect, especially with growing shadows. Though she had her bright coloured 'protector' with her to chase away childish fears of the dark. Quite humorous considering her namesake.

With him around, the female would pass through the packlands quite safely. She was escorted with a blood relative of the pack. It was all she needed. But he failed to mention had she asked to pass, they likely would have given her quarters to get through without issue. But he wanted to know her instead.
"Yeah this is my pack." He replied, giving a nod. He was sure she was uncomfortable, but the only way to beat being uncomfortable was to give in to the things that scared you. She was braving her fear right now, and he was going to help her do it.
"But you are safe." Those were the only words of comfort he offered. He knew she could do it, and coddling her wouldnt allow her to do it any easier.
"You'll like the ocean. Its incredibly addicting to staring at."

His assurances only calmed her beating heart little, but it helped to turn her mind away from the task at hand. The thought of bright eyes staring out from the darkness, of a pack ambush, creatures that looked for hapless wolves to stumble onto their lands on the way to the 'sea'. Her right side tingled a phantom feeling and the wolf had to resist the urge to press up against her guide like a pup would it's mother. She still had slight reserves about his dark eyes.
"I like staring at the water. I cannot swim, though." She admitted bluntly, only then realizing that at this twilight time it was only her voice she heard in the forest. Despite the fact the sensible thing to do when one was uneasy to stay quiet, take a submissive approach like a silent fawn hiding in the grass, hearing her own voice made her feel better. Any noise to break the silence. It didn't mean she was proud of her own outbursts, though. "But, there were only rivers. But you could, if you wanted. Swim in them."

He wouldnt have turned away her touch should she have needed to lean in on him. He was there to support her, though not coddle her as he was making sure that she made her own way through the forest. If he did everything for her, how would she begin to feel herself as powerful?
"I dont swim much either. But letting the waves lap over your paws, can cool you off soo nicely. It tends to be the perfect thing at the end of a long day." He smiled.
His lightning marked eyes matching the lightning that would peer from the clouds as they covered the very same water of which he spoke.
