"I'm gonna go to the play-place. Get me when you're done," Azrael called over his shoulder to his guardian, running through the glass doors that led to a gigantic room with a massive ball-pen at the heart of a tangle of tubes and tunnels that were all interconnected somehow. Grinning excitedly and ignoring Shadai's calls for him to come back and finish his meal, he kicked off his shoes and ran over to the cluster of open tubes. Which one should he choose? The red one? Or maybe the green one? No! The orange one!

Joining the small like of kids waiting to enter the labyrinth of tubes and slides, the toddler edged closer to the orange one. Some of the kids left the line for another one, mostly because he hovered over some of the older ones. Or perhaps it was because he shoved past the ones that were seemingly younger and far smaller than himself. Hey, it wasn't HIS fault they were too small to put up a fight.

"Age trumps all," Azrael muttered to himself, practically breathing down the neck of the child ahead of him. If they hadn't been half a foot taller than himself, he might have just shoved past and into the tube. Drat, if only he had a jack-o-lantern. He could have gotten Cody to wish for the children to leave or... something. Then again, most of the wishes he granted didn't work nowadays. The smaller ones only worked half the time and quite frankly, it angered him. The one thing that made him superior wasn't doing as it should, making him look like a total fool!

The nightmares were the worst part of sleeping.

As such, they were the main reason that Alazne didn't usually sleep at night. She could never get to sleep for fear of them and when she finally did, they terrified her awake. And that, my friends, is what lead to the girl up in the topmost little room of the playplace, leaning haphazardly to one side as she snoozed, thankfully getting at least a little sleep to help clear the bags clearing underneath her eyes.

But that was when the weird dreams started, visions of jack-o-lanterns and goblins and wishes and magic, visions that even she didn't understand, the little body twitching a bit and groaning in upset before her eyes snapped open and she was suddenly panting heavily, glancing every which way. She shook her head to herself and tucked herself away into the corner of the little room, near the air holes, and took the deep breaths that her father had taught her about, eyes darting from child-to-child in the cramped space, wishing that they would just vanish. She changed her mind:

The meanings of her dreams were the worst.

"I SAID MOVE!" Azrael snarled, pushing a couple of stubborn kids forward and into a side tunnel. Finally, it was a wonder why he hadn't done that sooner. Pausing, the pumpkin demon glanced around before finally choosing a pathway that led into a small room somewhere high above everything else.

Then stopped dead as he saw another child had already taken up residence there that had HORNS. "Woah, sorry," he muttered, wishing he had horns like that. They were so cool looking... Snapping out of his daze, Azrael exited the tunnel and stood up. The tunnels may be huge, but they were cramped when you had wings and a tail that didn't like to be stepped on.

"Why you up here?" he questioned, bringing the pumpkin-topped tail around to hold in his hands and out of the way for other, brattier kids to step on. Hey, the kid had horns, that marked her cool enough to actually be decent to and attempt a conversation with.

It only took a single moment for Alazne's big grey eyes to snap to the boy, blinking at him a few times before she grinned, his tail coming into view. Okay, so maybe not all of her dreams were bad. This kid looked like he could be trouble, but he was also only about as big as she was and didn't look like he was destroying anything just yet. Her own spade-tipped tail flicked behind her before curling around to rest in her lap, gently tapping in an attempt to keep the sleepy-eyed girl awake.

For some reason, she almost didn't expect the boy to talk to her and she had to pause and think for a second before giving a sheepish grin, speaking in a voice that was a bit deeper than what would be expected, and very befitting of the sort of child you'd find working in a carnival. "Not shure. Crawled up 'n' fell 'sleep, I'm guessin'," she said with a giggle that definitely showed that she was a girl who was barely even a toddler, although with a nice television-developed vocabulary. "Been up here 'since! What 'bout yerself?"

Azrael grinned slightly as she looked over at him, seemingly fully awake and alert while even providing him with an answer to his questions. "Sorry for wakin' you then. I... Kinda wandered up here I guess," he replied, still finding the girl interesting, mostly due to her looks and unique personality and such. The little demon hadn't met too many his age due to him often scamming them out of their cookies for a shoddy luck spell of sorts.

"M'name's Azrael. Wha's your name?" he asked, wondering what sort of name she would have. Probably something insanely cool or strange to match her appearance. Oh well, his name would ALWAYS be the coolest seeing as it was his and came from some sort of angel or whatever.

"Perfec'ly 'ccepteeble," Alazne replied while she grinned at the boy, rousing herself steadily into consciousness, one hand going to scratch an itchy area just behind one of her horns. She nodded in what seemed to be understanding at his explanation of what had brought him up here, her spaded tail lifting up a bit to start gently flicking back and forth behind her.

"Azrael," she said in that accent of hers that sounded like the strange lovechild of an Italian and a Western-style movie accent. She chuckled a bit in amusement at the similarity of their names and grinned back at the boy. "S'funny. Our names is sim'lar. I'm Alazne. Y'can call me Lazzy, m'friend. Nice t'make yer 'quaintance."

Woah! She WAS cool! Similar names, pretty cool looking and an awesome accent... Why didn’t he have one? Or did he have one and not know it? He’d have to ask sometime. “Hah, tha’s awesome. Nice t’ meet you too, Lazzy,” he replied, recognizing that his nickname was also insanely similar to his. Azzy, Lazzy... They even rhymed! “Wanna go run around the tunnels? I heard there’s this huuuuge slide somewhere tha’s hard t’ find,” he commented, wondering if she wanted to venture with him into the vast unknown to find this awesome slide.

Alazne grinned wildly. If there was one thing that she was most definitely up for, it was an adventure! Like the melodramatic characters in the melodramatic movies that she loved, Lazzy pulled her little snapgun out from where it was tucked into her pants and grinned in what she hoped was a devious sort-of way. "A'course!! Let's go find us some slides~!!"

Azrael grinned and nodded, fleeing down the tunnel he was going to take earlier before he had been stopped by the unusual sight of Lazzy. "I think it's this way," he commented as he crawled along the brightly-colored plastic tubes. He had heard from his brother about this fabled slide and how you had to go all the way to the top and down a mini slide to get to it. Where this tippy-top area was, he wasn't sure.

Yet, the boy wasn't going to give up just yet. "Hm... Which way? Gotta go up I think..." Azzy asked, pointing to the two different directions they could go.
