And our battlefield is...
Ice field
The temperature of the stadium suddenly dropped several degrees (just enough so breath was visual and winter-wear is needed) as the stadium floor shifted for the upcoming battle. The floor was made of extremely slick ice, which would make manuverablity, even simply standing, difficult. Crystal-like pillars reached skyward from the frozen water, reflecting the florescent lights to all sides of the battle-field.
This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to ICE type attacks

Raina entered the stadium, looking around the place with a sense of contentment. This was like a second home for her and her pokemon and today would be no different. She had lined up another battle for her dewgong and they would keep training as often as she could find challengers to get ready for their gym challenge.
As Raina reached her podium she pressed the field-select button and watched the screen randomize the fields, finally it stopped on the ice field and Raina grinned from ear to ear. Grasping the ball on her belt Raina threw it, unleashing Ayirwen onto the slippery ice. "We got lucky today Ayirwen!" she called as she watched her dewgong slide around happily on the ice.

For once in a long time, Opal was not late. She was very excited for this battle, for here was her chance to train with her new Pokemon: a dark colored Gengar she had dubbed "Itzal." He seemed to have a sort of attraction to himself and had so stolen Opal's hand mirror and claimed it as his own, much to Opal's distress. He was busy admiring himself as the two walked through the stadium. The young woman rolled her eyes at her new companion. "Just remember that we have a battle, too, 'kay?" The Gengar smiled charmingly. "Gengar, gen-gengar." Opal didn't know what to make of this answer so she pressed on. Without the usual presence of her Gastly by her side gone, Opal felt very uncomfortable and awkward. She hoped that today would be a good day.
The two entered the stadium and a chilling wind caught them, making them both shiver. Opal looked to her opponent and was unhappily surprised to find a Dewgong. Dang it... It'll have the upper hand. The young woman shook herself of her worries and smiled at Itzal, who seemed almost distraught. "Don't worry, hon! It'll just be a bit more of a challenge!" Opal adjusted her hairband and grinned to her opponent. "All right, I think we're ready over here!" Itzal joined in. "Gengar! Gen gengar-gengar!" "All right! Time to show y'all what I can do!

Raina watched as the other trainer entered and smiled, waving in greeting, before she turned to Ayirwen. "You'll do great Ayirwen." she called quietly to her pokemon who was staring at the gengar with what could be construed as... nervousness. Ayirwen had never really liked ghost types.
"Alright, we're ready too, good luck!" Raina called to the other trainer as she waited for her to make the first move.

Opal grinned to her opponent. "Good luck to you too!" She grinned at Itzal, and he grinned back, both knowing that they had a trick or two up their sleeves. The young woman cracked her knuckles and told her Gengar, "All right, Itzal! Thunderbolt!"
But Itzal wasn't listening. He was busy admiring himself in the mirror. Opal groaned and put her head in her hands, very embarrassed. Her opalescent colored eyes lowered into an almost seething glare. "Gimme that!" She took the hand mirror from the Gengar, who growled at her. "You can have it back after the match! Now focus!" Itzal stuck his large tongue out at his new human. "Gengar gen-gengar! Gengar!" The young trainer rolled her eyes. "I don't want to hear it, 'kay? Now, use Thunderbolt!" Itzal made a face at the girl and focused his strength into a tiny spot on his paws, and let loose the energy in a giant thunderbolt. "Gen gengar!"

Raina watched with amusement twinkling in her eyes as the gengar admired himself and had to hold back giggles at the confrontation that followed. Soon enough the trainer had her pokemon sorted out and he unleashed a Thunderbolt attack at Ayirwen who slid away on the ice to dodge the worst of it though she still felt a tingle in her tail as a small bit of electricity hit it.
Raina smirked, they too had tricks up their sleeves, "Use Lick!" she called to her dewgong who was immediately launching herself across the ice, looking very graceful while doing so, and when she reached the ghost pokemon she stuck out her tongue and gave him a nice slobbery lick from toes to head.

Opal blushed ferociously. Great, now I feel like a fool... I knew I shouldn't have come here with him... The trainer smiled a bit at the successful hit, but her smile disappeared when she saw the Gengar's glare in her direction. She felt terrible, like when a mother sends an unruly child to bed without dinner. Opal knelt down to Itzal's height. "Hon, I'm sorry, but we have to focus. We have to do this together. I know you probably don't respect me that much, but please, please, do what I ask, okay?" The Gengar turned away. "Gen... Gengar gen-gengar." Opal sighed and stood up, showing a small smile. "When we're done, I'll get you some ice cream, 'kay?" This cheered up Itzal a little bit.
Itzal shuddered after the Lick hit him. He glared at the Dewgong. "Gen, gengar, gen-gen gengar gen!" "That, madam, was very undignified!" He shook himself and smoothed his glossy fur. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Opal giving the command for the attack Energy Ball. The Gengar smiled charmingly and winked at the Dewgong. "Gengar, gengar gen gen-gengar, gen gengar." "My dear, if you thought this would be an easy fight, you would be mistaken." He then took a small green ball of energy and let it grown in his paws, focused the power, and sent it loose at the opponent Pokemon.

Raina's gaze narrowed as she watched the orb of green light glowing in the gengar's hands. Before she could say anything the orb had been thrust into Ayirwen who was thrown back several feet and landed, with a loud thud that cracked the ice beneath her, dazed. "Shake it off Ayirwen, C'mon you can do it!" she called and decided it was time to change their strategy.
Once the dewgong had managed to get her thoughts back in order she shook off the impact and narrowed her eyes at the gengar. "Is that any way to treat a lady?" she asked of her opponent while waiting for Raina's command. "Use Ice Beam!" the trainer called and Ayirwen nodded before her body glowed blue, especially at the tip of her horn, and a light blue beam was unleashed towards the gengar.
"Please kami, let this hit!" Raina prayed quietly and crossed her fingers.

Opal and Itzal both saw the powerful Ice Beam coming. Opal closed her eyes and gritted her teeth, and the Gengar quickly dove out of the way, narrowly missing the freezing attack. Opal opened one eye cautiously and smiled. "Way to go, 'Zal! Nice job!"
Itzal smiled and nodded to his human before addressing the Dewgong once more. "My dear, is that any way to treat a gentleman, including one with such beauty as I?" The Gengar smiled a smile that was mixed with cockiness and charm. He looked to Opal, who he had been slowly growing a small amount of respect for, and saw and acknowledged the command for another Thunderbolt. Itzal grinned and made the energy flow through his paws like before, and let it loose at his opponent.

Raina watched as Ayirwen attempted to dodge the attack but she couldn't outrun this one and the electricity surged through her for a moment and the dewgong was stunned for a few seconds before she shook it off and narrowed her eyes at the gengar. "That is definately no way to treat a lady." the dewgong called to him before racing towards him on the ice with her horn glowing purple and unleashing a devastating theif attack upon the ghost pokemon.

Opal saw the Thief attack coming and looked hurriedly to Itzal. "Get out of the way! Hurry!" Itzal saw the Dewgong coming and scrambled to dodge the attack, but he slipped on the ice and got hit by the super effective attack. He growled and stumbled a bit while standing back up. "How very rude indeed... Striking a gentleman while he is down! Very uncouth." Opal frowned. "Shake it off, honey. You can do this!" Itzal tottered a little before standing up straight again and looking to his human. The young woman nodded. "Okay! Energy Ball!" Itzal once more took the green ball in his paws and focused the energy until it peaked, and then launched it at the Dewgong.

Ayirwen smirked when her attack hit the gengar and was amused as he scrambled to get to his feet again, slipping repeatedly on the ice, but perhaps she shouldn't have been so amused because apparently it brought bad luck upon her and before she knew it she was hit with another ball of green light. She was knocked back several feet and when she regained her bearings she launched a devastating icebeam at the gengar in retaliation and hoped that it would hit and last.
