So, next year I'm at a huge dilemma as to what I'm going to play...Trombone or Bass Drum/Cymbals...Here are the pros and cons:

Pros to Being in Drumline (As opposed to being in Low-Brass):
-We'll have an upper-class man as a bass captain/a cymbal player who can actually READ QUARTER NOTES
-I get to be with pretty much all of my best friends all the time
-Much more productive and way better payoff
-No more long tones/lip slurs
-I played in it this year and am very good at it
-We might be short...so I could fill in where drummers are needed
-Don't have to be the only female in my section

Cons to Being in Drumline (As opposed to being in Low-Brass):
-Other THREE low brass players are complete morons (Part of the reason I didn't stay with trombone this last season)
-Only 2 trombones next year (1 Sousaphone)
-All the strong brass players are graduating aside from me
-Only female in my section
-Have to be a section leader...as opposed to a bass captain who has the Drum Captain for back up

So...yeah...Help?

P.S. I know that a LOT of that makes my sound like a pompas jack-a**...but believe me...it's almost ENTIRELY true...one of the trombonists tried to convince me not to try out for drumline. When it didn't work, he tried to get my band teacher to fail me in my drumline auditions...-_-;; He just want's to copy my slide positions...

EDIT: After some talk with my fellow band mates, I have decided that I will be in low brass next year. We're getting enough members in drumline to be a good drumline next year and I am needed else where. I'm gonna miss my drum buddies though. <: ( I have a feeling I'm gonna be that one kid that always hangs out with the drumline who isn't in it...baw...Anyway, there was also another possibility I was thinking of...I might try to become drum major. Although I probably wouldn't be an incredible drum major, everyone's saying I'd be way better than the person who's most likely becoming drum major next year. So, who knows.

Low brass, im biased, but their sexy.

Drumline is too, but there's something about a wall of low brass sound that can't be competed with

Yeah...that's true...but I feel way more at peace with myself when I hear a really well played bass drum run. We have these sextuplet runs in one of our show pieces, and when we nail it, I start grinning and usually miss my dot due to pure joy.
So far it's 50/50...
