The fox was in the henhouse.
Being an expert 'items borrower' (or so Toby would like to think), he had picked up some knowledge about his certain field of expertise. One, if anything happens, act innocent. Two, dont make eye contact, this is bad. And three, try not to steal from pretty girls: chances are they hurt or even worse, are actually, knowing his luck, senshi in disguise (here, he gingerly touched his gloriously swollen nose at the memory).
To say he was feeling under the weather was like saying the Titanic got just a scratch from the iceberg in the Bermuda Triangle (wait... where had it been again?!) His entire side and back was bruised, his insides felt slightly inside out, and his nose, well, it had seen better days. In short, his items borrowing life was a little short-spanned, not without some well planned backup.
Cue Gabe. Toby cant even remember exactly how they met (there was some talking, he thought, or it might have been Negaverse-related, it was so much of a blur these days), but now that there were TWO of them, things might not be so bad after all.
Beckoning the other to come over, Toby nodded and pointed briefly at their first 'victim'. "Ok," he rubbed his hands together, "Um, this is what you're going to do. Dude comes around, you bump into him, and tell him to watch his way, and I go for the kill, and I slide in while he's distracted-" he made an effective hand gesture, slapping his fist into his other open palm- "ka-pow! One wallet ripe for our taking, split 50/50 as promised." He grinned. "I'd like to see the rest of the Negaverse do that, ha ha!"
Well, so they were dressed in their civvies, but sue him.
As if on cue, the 'victim' stood at the bus station in his lonesome, impatiently staring at his watch. Now would be the perfect time to - what the- aw darnit, were those some Crystal high school girls lining up behind that man?

Gabe was not usually a fan of pickpocketing, per say. He was loud and obnoxious and crude and really, these things never ended well. But this Toby character seemed to know what he was doing, so that was a good thing. The punk eyed their mark, rummaging around in his pocket for a lighter. He wasn't quite sure how reliable this kid was, considering the state of him, but.
He was willing to try anything once. Twice or three times, sometimes, and this was at least worth a oneoff, right?
"Yeaahh yeah. Will do." He made a bit of a face, freckles crinkling as he scrunched his nose, heading off at an impatient pace. His boots were steel toed and definitely stolen, and they made heavy sounds against the pavement as Gabe shuffled towards the mark. He noticed the girls-- not noticed, just...acknowledged that they were there, stopping short a bit before reaching the bus stop, and raised a pierced brow at Toby.
This had not been in the plan. And really, he wasn't quite smart enough to deduce the next step. If he were flying solo, he'd just make a grab for it and run like a chicken with his head cut off, but uh. He didn't know if that would quite fly in destiny city.

Toby watched as Gabe literally, walked into the crowd, and... stood there.
Was it just his imagination, or was Gabe staring at him instead of the intended target? At the other's slightly confused expression on the new additions to the lineup, Toby tried the best of his ability to mentally signal to the other from his hiding spot to keep on waiting until the girls were a little more distracted. There was no way he was charging in quite yet until the correct opportune moment.
In fact, he was so busy trying to figure out exactly HOW to get certain victim's wallets that he forgot to pay attention to the prize at hand. Said businessman had been staring at his watch the entire time, and finally decided with a sigh, that the bus was running late and he would take a taxi instead. Cue them breaking from the line and walking down the street away from the 'dynamic duo'.
By the time Toby looked up again, the aforementioned persons was indeed, missing from the crowd. Gabe looked strangely out of place with the group of colourful high school girls. He blinked, staring at the other as if to ask where their target had gone.
