In a particularly dingy part of Destiny City was a one-room video rental. Though a great deal of the selection was pornography from many decades ago, students loved the "classic" section. Giant reptiles versus mangled robots and cross-dressing dancers swaying next to giant lips, this video store was the place to get it.

Variscite was nearby, thinking that maybe a wayward student would slip by to rent a film. The lieutenant wasn't particularly happy with her patrol choice, and passed the time sitting on a brick wall overlooking the run-down store. She was tired, and the streets in the area were too small for her to drive-- she didn't want the paint to get scratched.

So she was left with nothing to do but to wait. She could take a catnap, after all... what predator should she fear? The public was afraid of her, and the people she worked for. It was a nice feeling, not having to fear anything.

'Maybe just a moment...' she thought to herself as she let her eyes droop closed.

He might or might not have been debating slipping into the rental 'shop' of sorts before heading home. Nothing better than a cheesy-a** movie to keep his mind off things, right? He wasn't afraid to walk down the street as he was now, fully clad in his uniform and still a little banged up. He'd be hard pressed not to notice the pair of legs dangling as his eyes roamed the narrow street, and his head tilted up slowly to take in what looked like... well, a woman taking a nap.

Her uniform spoke volumes, as well as the fact that she'd somehow managed to get all the way up there on her own. Negaverse? Probably, but not one he recognized.

"It'll be a sad day when you slip and splat on the pavement for taking a little cat nap." He mused aloud, crossing his arms as he watched her with a slowly spreading grin. "Unless you're just having one hell of a night up there."

Variscite's eyes were open the instant she heard the fellow speak. She looked down at the brick wall she had been sleeping on, and did her best to wipe the marks from her cheek.

"I have more confidence in myself than to let THAT happen," she drawled as she mussed her hair back into its normal (still messy) state. She looked down at him. He didn't look like a senshi; the fact that he was wearing pants could attribute to that.

"You're a lieutenant as well, hm?" Variscite drew one of her legs up to her chest and laid her arm across it as she peered down. "You're the first one I've met. How do you do?"

He didn't look too threatening, but she didn't know how the Negaverse worked within its own ranks yet. For all she knew, it could be a rule to attack others on sight. Thinking about then, she probably shouldn't have been napping...

"I would hope so." The man replied with a slight grin on his face, still tilting his head up in order to eye the young woman. A bit eye-catching with that scarf, wasn't she? And such manners, besides! He was amused despite himself, shifting his weight onto one leg as he watched her shift positions.

"Charmed, I'm sure." Obsidian purred, stretching a little. "Lieutenant Obsidian. Unless you're planning on renting a shitty movie for tonight, I'm going to guess you're on duty." Sort of. Taking a nap on some cold, hard brick wall didn't even sound appealing, though, hell, he was tired enough that maybe he'd have cracked and tried it himself.

"You're new?" He noted, reflecting back on her words; if he was the first she'd met... Well, not only was she probably unfortunate, but that meant she really hadn't been around long.

Well, they'd see how long this friendly chat lasted. The thought made his grin grow a little more wide.

"Lieutenant Variscite," she replied. With grunt she hopped off of the wall, landing without the elegance that she would've preferred. She tried to shrug it off by putting her hands on her hips and looking over the man.

"I am. I had the ... pleasure... of meeting the General-King a little while ago. That was after one of his monsters wrecked my car. I responded by promptly running the thing over... and in turn, he responded by awakening me to the opportunity to gain real power," Variscite's speech was long, but she spoke about it like it was the most important thing in the world.

"So," she continued. "Now I'm out collecting Star Seeds. Hopefully they will be useful to the Negaverse's goal..."

She looked up, as if pondering. It looked like she had no idea what exactly a Star Seed was.

He didn't choose to comment on her less than impressive display of prowess; hell, at least she knew how to jump. Memories of a certain sniveling teen came to mind, and Obsidian shifted his weight a little with amusement. How was dear Tobernite, he wondered? Still thriving, or dead in a ditch somewhere?

A brow quirked at the mention of the General-King--and how she'd chosen to deal with one of his youma. Not suppressing a snort, Obsidian grinned at Variscite thoughtfully, fingers drumming against his arm. "No ********' wonder he yanked you in here. Guess it was that or kill you."

"Have you gotten any yet?" He questioned, more curious than condescending for once. Not that he was exactly looking forward to another lecture, but hell had to be better than Tobernite.

His fingers were crossed.

"I'm glad he chose the former," Variscite smirked as she walked over to get a better look at him. Not bad. He wasn't as impressive as the General-King, but she supposed every army needed at least one pretty boy.

The lieutenant glanced at the ground, a shade of guilt in her blue eyes.

"Well," she started. "I almost got a senshi's Star Seed, but that woman could wrestle. So, I only have one... a citizen's Star Seed. I doubt it will be of much use to the Negaverse, but it is better than nothing. I have a couple of grudges to take care of, though, and a couple of senshi to spear."

"You clean up better than most the new recruits I've seen." The man snorted, tilting his chin down to get a better glimpse of her as well. Hm! Confidence was something he could appreciate, as well as age; both his impressions of Tobernite and Serandite had been less than stellar, and he was sure they returned the favor tenfold. Too bad he hardly gave a s**t.

Amusement sparked through him as she dropped her gaze, already knowing what that probably meant. "A senshi, huh?" A low whistle, impossible to tell if it was mocking or genuine. "Mm. Don't get too discouraged; somehow it's a lot more ******** difficult to snag one than it should be." That much was said with a grim sort of humor, implying he'd had his own share of failures.

"Take a picture for me, sounds like it'll be hell of a lot of fun." Obsidian stretched before he tilted his head at her, cocking a brow. "Want a movie?"

He may or may not have been serious.

"I appreciate the compliment, but at the same time I'm worried if the new recruits are so lousy," she arched a black eyebrow, and her lips pursed when he whistled.

"I don't plan on being discouraged," she tried to sound venomous, but it was obvious that her ego had been hit by her failures. Her eyes were still narrow, however. She was thinking about the senshi, especially Sailor Walkure. Something about that pigtailed woman bothered her. Their fight was so physical, so passionate and heated. It was bothersome to Variscite that even after she swore loyalty to the beautiful Queen, she could feel lust (even lust born out of rage) for the enemy.

Well, she wasn't going to let it get to her too much. It wasn't' that much of a big deal, it certainly wasn't going to stop her from plunging her claws into Walkure's breast the next time she saw her. She would have no trouble retrieving her Star Seed, for sure.

"I'll make a copy of the photo for you," she finally murmured. "One of them, at least, will be framed and hung on my wall!"

She was drawn out of her daydreams by Obsidian's question. A movie? Really?

"Aren't you on patrol yourself, Lieutenant Obsidian? ... What genre?"
PostPosted: Fri Nov 13, 2009 10:40 am

"I might be exaggerating." He mused, lips curling a little. "One of them didn't even know how to jump properly, much less pluck out a star seed." Oh, Tobernite. He had a soft spot for you, really.

Teeth bore themselves briefly in a grin at the snap of her words, and though he was half-tempted to see if he could rile her up, he only nodded. Nerissa sprung to mind, as always, but she was a flickering and dying flame to Obsidian, now. He'd held her life in his hands, could have crushed it, but had been forced to spare her. No, she presented no challenge now, and the thought was still disappointing after all this time.

"Much obliged." The man chuckled as he waltzed closer to the entrance of the crappy little rental... room. "Dead serious. Eh, some of us have to work--I'm going to bed so I can get my four hour nap before having to do this all over again." He grinned at her, pulling open the door exaggeratedly so he could bow her in. "Normally, believe it or not, I'm a horror man. Tonight, I'll let the lady pick--could extend my nap to five or six hours if it's a chick flick!"

My, what a gentleman. Variscite crossed her arms and looked him up and down as he held the door open.

"Lt. Obsidian, do I really look like the kind of woman who would watch a 'chick-flick'?" She stepped inside, thinking of her choice.

"I usually prefer foreign films, especially operatic ones, but I doubt that they'd have something like that here..." she trailed off as she looked around the dingy rental. Most of the walls were dedicated to pornography, with the shelves in the middle of the room... not-pornography. Those were the categories. The middle-aged man sat behind his counter, his balding head and sausage-link arms the only things visible because he was asleep.

"I think I have an idea for a compromise, though. You like horror and violence, right? I like operas. Have you ever seen 'The Genetic Opera'?"
PostPosted: Sat Nov 21, 2009 5:19 pm

"I've been taught not to judge on appearances if I want to keep myself in one piece." The lieutenant replied with a snort, following close behind.

Foreign... Opera... His lips were already beginning to twist in the semblance of a sneer, but, hey, if the volume was low enough, he could still doze off. A glance was cast to the owner, and he had to resist the urge to whistle at the size of those arms. Talk about letting yourself go.

Idly rolling his shoulders, a grin and a nod would be offered as she practically pegged his A-list. "And porn, but hell. Mm, can't say I have. Paris Hilton, that's all I've got." Which, hey, was another plus. Waving a hand, he seemed to have made up his mind. "Hm. Well, snag that one... And I think I'm gonna go snag something myself, actually."

He casually made his way over to the slumbering man, eying him for a moment. To wake him up, or to just yank his seed out right now... Decisions, decisions!

"Hm, it's a good one. I must say that the main actress is far better looking than Paris Hilton. Sarah Brightman is lovely, too..." Variscite trailed off as she watched Obsidian walk up to the fat man.

"Will our Future Queen really benefit from a Star Seed like that?" she crossed her arms and watched him. "What are you waiting for?"

She walked over to the non-porn shelf and plucked out The Genetic Opera. The DVD case was dusty, so she brushed it off, her eyes still on Obsidian.

"This place is disgusting..." she muttered.
PostPosted: Wed Nov 25, 2009 3:24 pm

"Sarah who?" He mused aloud, not really paying attention even as he just decided to hell with it, and shoved his hand in elbow-deep into the flabby folds of the man's back. Had to hop up on the counter to do it, but meh. The star seed was plucked free, and the man never even stirred.

"A star seed is a star seed, my dear." Obsidian tossed the thing up and it vanished. "And yes. I think that's part of the appeal." The man chuckled, stretching. "You have to remember that this is heaven for little boys going through puberty. Illegal pornos abound. You got it? And your place or mine?"

He arched a brow at her, and it was a fairly innocent question--considering who she was talking to.

Variscite curled her upper lip as she watched Obsidian plunge his arm into the fat that made up the man's form. The death could be easily explained-- a stroke, heart attack, or something. He had it coming.

"Better hope it wasn't lined with pig's fat," she snorted as she watched the Star Seed disappear. She held out the DVD with her thumb and index finger, her eyebrow raised.

"I don't want to think about that man dealing with boys going through puberty," she snorted. "He might've enjoyed his job too much... but who knows, giving the 'quality' videos he decided to show. So, Obsidian... did you ever go through a phase like this?" She put one of her hands on her hips and smirked at him, quite intrigued by the idea of someone like the lieutenant paying all of his pennies for a flash.

"Your place, of course. I'm stuck in a dormitory."
