Who: Aphismet, Rivener, Isikoro, Eiry, Alex & Zul
When: After No Sugar, Just Spice
Where: Delaran household
Weather: Cooling down for the evening

[The Phone Call - an MSN short]

She was violated, confused, sad and more than a little lost from all that had transpired - and although she wouldn't admit it, the woman sorely needed a hug. To Alex, that brought one person to mind. Plucking her phone out of her pocket, she speed-dialed Aphismet, biting her lip and willing him to be home.

Aphismet put down his paintbrush when the phone rang, wiping his hands on his pants (already matted with colors from previous paintings). He picked up the receiver he'd brought into the room and wedged it between his neck and cheek as he kept trying to clean his hands. "Hello?" he spoke brightly.

Alex felt her heart jump even as her stomach sunk. Don't you dare cry, she chided herself. "Hey...Aphi? I-it's Alex." She closed her eyes, rubbing the spot between her eyes with slightly trembling fingers. "Gosh, this...is so abrupt, but, can I come over? Stuff...um, happened, and I'd really like to see you." The end of her sentence was almost a plea.

Aphismet's hands stilled the moment he heard her voice. Dark eyes widened. Something was wrong. Where was Alex's usual cheerful tone? Her borderline-teasing inflections? Something was WRONG. When she asked to come over, the chef's fingers gripped at the phone tightly and he clipped: "Of course!! Come over right this instant, I'll be waiting! Hot cocoa when you get here?"

A short, almost hiccuped laugh escpaed her at the mention of hot cocoa. He was too good to her. "Please," she said with a small, wavering smile, clasping the phone next to her ear with both hands as if she could reach him sooner. "We'll - Zul, he's here too - we'll be there as soon as we can..." Alex swallowed down her upset. "...and, thank you, Aphi."

Aphismet nodded to the phone then realized she couldn't possibly see that. He spoke. "Okay, okay, come quick alright? There's no need to thank me. Come over. I'll be waiting." Aphi let Alex hang up first, then he all but ran out of the room to prepare; he had to change, he had to make hot cocoa, he had to tell Rivener.

I'm so, so sorry for inviting myself over, Alex ran over what she'd say to Aphismet for the millionth time on the drive over, but I needed to see you...

Lazarus had shaken the stalwart Italian rather badly. It wasn't even the groping that had done it - she was sometimes-friends with We`rika, after all - but that it had been Laz. The eldest, most trusted and shining example of a Raevan, had groped her and three others, then tried to attack them! A newborn Raevan, no less! Alex felt the fine tremor in her hands and knew the shock was beginning to settle in, now that everyone had gone their seperate ways. She needed that hug, and maybe to crash and burn for a bit, but there was only one person that she trusted enough to let see a potential breakdown.

I'm so, so sorry for inviting myself over, she started over again, biting her bottom lip and she jumped out of the truck. She didn't recall the majority of the drive, or even pulling up to the house, but it was there and so was she. "Zul, stay in the truck," she commanded half-heartedly, not even bothering to look and see if he'd listen. Alex trudged up the walkway, head down, repeating her words inwardly. I needed to see you...

The demon was mostly impassive at his woman's side, although he had watched her the entire time. Now at Rivener's house, he couldn't help but admit that his attention was severely torn; he could tell Alex was upset, but Aphismet was going to take care of her now, right? Didn't that mean he could secretly take in the place that the Sigel called home? Zul tilted his head back, taking in the grand...building. That wasn't a house, that was...a mini hotel! Like HELL he was staying in the truck!

"This is a house?" the Frei asked out loud as he left the vehicle, his voice slightly incredulous and more than a little awed.

Alex glanced up, her inner monologue on hold while she tried to grasp for what her charge had asked, her addled mind not entirely grasping that he was not listening. "Yeah, it's...it's nice, isn't it?" she tried to smile. "It's an older house, but really nice...wait 'til you see the inside." It occured to her that she hadn't been to Aphismet's house other than the Halloween party two years ago; she hadn't seen it sans decorations, but even this curious little tidbit didn't seem to shake the personal storm cloud that hovered over her slumped shoulders. "Stay out here," was all she said.

Watching Zul turn amazed circles as he tried to absorb the new sight, the woman cracked another small, sad smile and knocked on the door.

Aphismet had changed, cleaned himself a little and opened the windows in the painting room to let the smell of oils dissipate. He'd then rushed down to make the hot cocoa he'd promised Alex, knowing it would take a while. He wasn't into that cheap, instant-powder stuff... Aphi melted real chocolate in a bain-marie and poured it into scalding milk with a half-stick of cinnamon, a little bit of vanilla... And, he figured she sounded like she'd need it, he had a bottle of good brandy at the side, in case she'd like a shot. He left the pot of hot chocolate on the stove and waited for his guest to arrive, pacing the kitchen nervously, wondering what the heck might have shaken Alex so much she'd call him.

The last time she'd went through something hard, she hadn't said a peep to him about it, intent on handling it all herself... Maybe this was worse than that? Oh god, Aphismet was losing his mind imagining all the bad things that could have happened!

Rivener was leaning at the kitchen island, watching his guardian pace. All Riv knew was that Alex had called, that she and Zul (the Scorpion's stomach gave a little flip) were coming over. "Calm down, man, I'm sure it's not as bad as all that! Just stop p-"

The doorbell rang, and both men's heads whipped up with wide eyes, one with a broad smile on his face and the other with a worried frown. It was like a race to the front door thereafter, Rivener winning easily. The Sigel all but threw the door open, smiling honestly for a second before he recovered himself and smirked sultrily instead. "Hello-" he purred, although it was cut short as Aphismet shoved him out of the doorway.

"Alex!" He called, rushing onto the porch and scooping up the woman in a tight hug. "Alex, you had me so worried, your voice was so strange on the phone... Come in, cocoa's ready, come on." Smiling sheepishly at his rather vehement welcome, Aphismet kept an arm around the woman's waist as he led her inside and towards the kitchen. "D-did you want brandy in your Cocoa?"

Rivener tried to regain his broken pride, frowning at Aphismet and straightening his jacket. "Jeez. He'd been fretting like a ******** mother hen since the phone call... What happened?" The Scorpion waved Zul inside, doing his best to forget that little display and focusing instead on the demon-frei.

Green eyes turned upwards when Rivener opened the door, giving the Sigel that same smile that wasn't quite whole. "Hey--" And then Aphismet was there. She only caught the briefest look of worry on his face before she was bundled into his arms, rather shocked. When was the last time someone had hugged her like that, really, truly hugged her? The chef being the one to hold her so tight, and of his own doing, made her forget everything she wanted to say. Alex would have melted into him, but she found herself being ushered into the house and the man asking her a question.

"Brandy?" she finally uttered a full word to Aphismet, blinking widely at him. For a moment, she simply looked at him, absorbing the warmth of his arm and catching the delicious smell of warm chocolate in the air, and beneath it, the comforting scent of the chef himself. For one perfect moment, she felt like she was home.

Her arms lifted and rested around Aphismet's shoulders, burying her face into his shoulder and taking a quick, shuddering breath. "Mn, just...a-ah hug, for a moment, if...I'm sorry f-for inviting..." So much for apologizing! Alex squeezed her eyes shut and embraced the white-haired man, almost clutching him as though he could erase the past few hours. "Sorry," she whispered, mildly embarrassed at suddenly attaching to him, even though she made no effort to let go.

The Frei floated in after the two humans were inside, closing the door in his wake. For a few seconds, he'd completely forgotten about his woman and her woes, blue eyes scouring over the Scorpion's body with heated appraisal. Was Rivener getting more attractive? A smug smile curved the demon's lips, eyes lidding in satisfaction; it almost looked like Rivener's expression on the Frei's face. And that handsome Raevan was all his...

Rivener's voice called to him dimly through the haze of possession that filtered through his mind, prompting the deep-blue gaze to meet the Sigel's own crimson one. The smile faded, although it wasn't for what had happened to Alex and the others, but because his time with his Rivener was being infringed upon by someone else's problem!

He looked briefly confused, as if he wasn't sure where he was before he shook his head, coming back to himself a little. That was not a nice thing to think. Looking to the humans, Alex now holding onto Aphismet, he spoke in a slightly off manner, his voice all smoke and a warning of something hot, "Laz'rus lost himself. He did bad things, and now he's confined." Zul lifted his gloved hands and rested them over his chest, cupping his palms to indicate what he meant, "He grabbed them, here. And used his--"

"Zul," Alex murmured quietly from Aphismet's shoulder, and the demon fell silent.

Startled would have been much too mild a word to describe Aphismet's reaction to Alex suddenly clutching to him like that. It wasn't that she'd suddenly hugged him, no: it was that one short, shaky breath she'd taken. Like she'd been crying, or was on the verge of it. The chef's arms wrapped around her the moment she spoke, his head laying against hers comfortingly, white hair against black. One of his hands stroked along her back soothingly. "Shhh, Shh, Alex. I'll hug you as long as you need, it's alright. Don't apologize, I want to be here for you. My home will always, ALWAYS welcome you. Hell, you don't even have to ask, show up anytime. It's okay, Shhh, Shh..."

Rivener's eyes, which had been glancing over his shoulder at the human drama behind him, flicked back to Zul as the frei began speaking. There was something odd in his voice, but having just witness what the Demon-frei was relating must be the cause of that odd tone. "Lazarus lost it?" Riv repeated, blinking. The elder Sigel had grabbed women's chests?!

Aphismet blanched as he heard, his soothing coos stopping short as Alex called warningly to her Raevan, asking him to stop without saying as such. The dark eyes glowed fiercely and Aphismet's jaw set into steel. Again, he hadn't been there when someone he loved needed him! God dammit, was there only one way to keep those he loved safe?!

"Alex, he didn't... He-... Oh, you-... Mngh! I don't suppose you'd want to move in here with me so I could keep you safe from that ever happening again, would you?" The chef smiled sheepishly, although his eyes had that hard, earnest glint that said he meant every damned word. He was still holding onto Alex tightly, his arms actually strengthening their hold protectively on the woman.

Rivener huffed, placing his hands on his hips. "Jeez. What the hell's wrong with Laz?... Well, as long as he's confined I suppose, that's fine. He didn't hurt YOU did he?" Riv floated closer to his precious, lifting a clawed finger to press gently under the demon's chin, tilting it up so they could stare into each other's eyes. Riv tried to be mysterious and nonchalant, but there was a hint of true worry shining in the ruby irises.
PostPosted: Wed Oct 28, 2009 7:23 pm

The words rushed over and through her, soothing her uncertainty. The trembling was still present, but her breathing began to slow from her upset and her embrace was less of a gripping of the chef and more of leaning into Aphismet and relaxing into him. Slowly, Alex was finally melting against him, reveling in the hug she'd needed so bad as one might enjoy a hot bath after a long day. It was just what she needed.

At the chef's sudden, earnest invitation, Alex slowly lifted her head and blinked up at him. She was completely caught off guard, green eyes searching his face for some type of joke or hesitation that meant he was just playing around. Her breath caught a little when his arms tightened around her, and she found herself awe-struck as she looked up at him with a rather baffled but touched expression. It took her a few times of opening and closing her mouth before any words actually formed. "As a roommate, or are you asking me to be your girlfriend, Aphismet Delaran?" she startled herself by actually responding in a fairly serious, light-hearted manner herself.

"Me?" The single word was almost haughty, the grin that curved his lips around his white teeth quite prideful. The demon could still recall the way Lazarus had glared at him, the hatred that had seethed out of the Sigel's very form. Anger and jealousy. Over him. Zul felt on top of the world, even with his woman so upset, and he didn't quite catch the warning flares in his mind that said something was wrong with that.

Instead, the Frei floated as high as he could, arms gliding over the Sigel's shoulders. His face pressed close, crystalline orbs half covered by his lowered lids, wings beating in a slow motion to balance him against the Scorpion. Zul's posture was all confidence and pride, his touch full of possession as one hand drew through Rivener's hair. The demon leaned forward, his lips ghosting over the Scorpion's own as he finally continued. "I stopped him," came the smoke-filled purr, that triumphant grin reforming on his features.

Much like her charge, Alex had momentarily forgotten the Raevans, even about her embarrassment at being Raevan-handled. Aphismet wanted to protect her? Her? She had until January to find a new place to live as per her company's request to vacate the house, and while she'd been looking into places in Gambino, she'd never actually thought of living with someone else. Living with Aphismet...and Isi, and their Raevans! "What would Isi think?" she asked suddenly, remembering they weren't the only two people in the universe. "And Eiry? And--" she glanced to Riv, but she was pretty sure she knew his answer. "-...really?"

Aphismet blinked down at Alex as the woman stared up at him. H-had Aphi said too much? Ah, she'd laugh it off in two seconds, no big deal. He could deal with that. The man chuckled softly already, ready to just laugh along with Alex and say that no, no, he wasn't serious...

Only Alex DID take him seriously. The words that spilled out of her mouth, rather serious, made Aphismet blush but grin widely. "What do YOU think?" he asked back cheekily, nearly leaning down for a kiss right then and there but paused in his tracks as the woman mentioned what Isi would think of all this. "Isi? Ah... We'll ask him when he shows up. I'm sure he'll be happy about it! And Eiry, well, he might be a little more pouty of having to share Rivener with someone el- Rivener!!!" The chef had glanced over at his charge, finding him making out rather passionately with the demon-frei.

Indeed, Rivener had quickly wrapped his arms around Zul, one hand tangled up in cream-and-smoke hair, pressing their mouths together with a hoarse groan. His tongue was already dancing wantonly with the frei's, oblivious to the humans or even to their location.

Nnngh, Zul was being so uncharacteristically Dominating! Not since the first time they met and Rivener had been the one to tuck HIMSELF under ZUL'S neck had the frei acted this way. Something in Rivener's spine was completely enamored by this confident, prideful version of the demon. The brushing of those lips as Zul declared his supremacy over even Lazarus had been the last straw, and now Rivener floated forward until he pressed Zul into the nearest wall, kissing desperately.

Aphismet frowned, blushing as he looked away. He knew Alex didn't normally care to stop them, saying it was "harmless", but Aphi couldn't help his reaction. "H-how about we just, uhm... Go get that cocoa, hm?" The chef tried to ignore the pang of jealousy he felt for his charge; Aphismet was the adult, HE should be the one kissing his girlfriend like that! ...He blushed at applying that term to Alex for the first time.
PostPosted: Wed Oct 28, 2009 8:30 pm

Alex actually laughed. It was the last thing she thought she'd do that day, hell, for the rest of the week! The chef knew how to make her laugh when she didn't think she could, and that meant more to her than she could rightly express. So she guessed...th-that meant, he was asking her officially without asking. O-or something. "I don't assume," she teased back lightly, smiling almost coyly up at him while he talked about Isi and Eiry. The outburst of the Sigel's name made her glance to the side.

Oh. The woman's skin suddenly felt hot, stuck staring for several heartbeats before averting her eyes, slightly hiding her face against Aphismet's shoulder.

There wasn't anything in the world Zul wouldn't have traded for a longer body in that moment, wanting to push Rivener and be the one to pin him. To cover him in that power! The demon improvised and slid one hand upwards to grasp one of the Scorpion's horns, holding him into the kiss and tugging him even closer at the white-haired man's exclamation. He wasn't going to let the Sigel go, no, he belonged to him and this moment was theirs and theirs alone!

His skin warmed considerably beneath Rivener's touch, the curls of his lower ribbon sliding into the spaces of the Sigel's own as though to get even closer. The hand not holding the horn continued to glide through the bi-colored hair before resting against the back of Rivener's neck, cupping the elder Raevan's head against the kiss. The fire between them was intense, not like anything Zul had experienced before; if he had his way, they would kindle it and see just how high it could burn.

Thank god they're not...formed, she thought with mild embarrassment. It was harmless, sure, but it was still a shock to her system. Ah, hot cocoa, yes! Alex nodded against the chef's shoulder, glancing up at him. "I think I'm almost jealous," she unwitting echoed Aphismet's thoughts, righting herself but still leaning against him. Hot cocoa sounded fantastic right about now, especially given the man in her company. Boyfriend, she corrected herself, and was immediately taken with a wide grin. That would take some getting used to, although she secretly hoped she never got used to it; the thrill was something she wanted to feel everything she thought of it!

Aphismet startled as Alex pretty much said exactly what the chef had been thinking. Could she read his mind, or perhaps his body language? He chuckled softly as he led her into the kitchen, blushing just a tad. He was jealous too, and ohhh, god he wanted to kiss her, but not in the way Rivener had been kissing Zul. Th-that was just too much. But perhaps a softer kiss...

He pulled a stool for her at the kitchen island, intent on getting them both a mug of cocoa in the next instant, but that's where his resolve broke. When she sat, Aphi leaned closer and pressed their lips together. It wasn't a hot, passionate thing like their charges were sharing, but it held more meaning.

Languidly, the chef pulled away and blinked slowly, smiling. "I think I'm in love," he admitted, flushing red despite the smile and the breathy, happy way his voice was lilting. "...is that okay?"

Rivener would have argued that "more meaning" bit whole-heartedly. He groaned hoarsely as his Zul gripped one of the Scorpion's horns, tugging at his skull and pressing them closer together. Ohhhh, Rivener was going to lose it. His perceptions were spinning! The world around him was tilting on its side!

Since his hands weren't needed to keep their mouths together (Zul was doing a good job of that all on his own!), Riv's hands wandered down to explore the frei's body, caressing everywhere with fingers that were alternately soft and scraping, trying to see where Zul would enjoy the touch. Nh, the Scorpion felt like he was on fire!
PostPosted: Wed Oct 28, 2009 9:45 pm

Alex gratefully took a seat as it was pulled out for her, eyes momentarily looking around the spacious kitchen - in a chef's house, she'd expect no less! It was funny that she'd never been to his house, but they worked opposite hours and often caught each other out and about when able. In all their months of dating, the spontaneous dinners together and the lunchs he brought her at the Lab, they hadn't kissed much. It was why she looked rather shocked when Aphismet took initiative, filling her vision before taking her lips to his.

And mm, what a kiss! Her eyes lidded, accepting and returning the token of affection, one of her hands finding its way up to touch his cheek softly. She tried to focus again, taking a few moments before her green gaze rested fondly against his brown. And then he said....h-he said...! Her lips parted in a slow intake of breath, gazing at him. They'd had a whirlwind romance for eight months; the words felt like a warm breeze on a cool day in spring, and she was again taken with the sense of coming home.

They finally admitted what they wanted from each other - and now this! It was perfect. It was right.

"Yeah," she whispered, not quite trusting her voice, "that's okay." Her hand rested against his cheek, thumb drawing over the tan skin. "I think I'm in love too, Aphi..." Alex grinned up at him, an expression free of her previous upset and holding only joy in her eyes. The strength of her voice slowly returned as she claimed, "You make real cocoa. I'd be a fool to let you go now!"

The demon was not used to touch, at least, nothing beyond a hug. Each sweep of those clawed fingers sent pleasant shivers up his exposed spine, his wings beating in a trapped frenzy against the wall. Zul uttered a short, almost growl-like sound of approval into the sealed kiss when the Sigel's fingers pressed near the bottom of his chest; there was a similar, but lesser sound when his neck was neared, although his gorget made that harder to touch around. He decided he liked Rivener exploring, to see what he liked, telling the Sigel as much by fisting the hand against the back of his head, tendrils of hair between his fingers, and pushing him even closer.

For a brief, brief moment, his orange rune flickered darkly. A tendril of something dark curled over the shimmering life force within, a hazy smattering of smoke-colored mist about it before it returned to orange, albeit slightly darker than before.

In the typical Isikoro fashion, reckless and bumbling, the cripple boy burst into the house from the garage door with a loud careless slam, his mood announced by his anger-filled shout and the crack of his young boy's voice. There was a clatter as he threw his helmet across the hallway, accented by the padded punctuations of his crutches as the youth stormed through the household.

"EIRDIRSCEOL, I'M GOING TO SHUT DOWN THE GARDENING BUSINESS IF YOU KEEP PHASING OUT WHILE WE'RE ON THE MAIN ROADWAYS. I CAN'T ******** DEAL WITH ANYMORE OF THIS HAVING TO STOP THE DAMNED SCOOTER TO RUN BACK--"

"Hobble," came the helpful resident thesaurus.

"EIRY, JUST BE QUIET AND LET ME FINISH MY SENTENCE. HAVING TO STOP THE SCOOTER AND RUN BACK TO PICK YOU UP FROM THE ROADWAY BEFORE YOU GET RUN OVER AND DEALING WITH AND APOLOGIZING TO ALL THE <********> PEOPLE THAT STOP AND TRY TO HELP, OR EVEN THOSE ASSHOLES ON THE ROAD WHO THINK IT'S FUN AND STRESS-RELIEVING TO MAKE FUN OF A CRIPPLE RIDING ON A PERIWINKLE BLUE SCOOTER...SO, HEAVEN HELP ME, IF YOU PULL THAT STUNT ONE MORE TIME, I'M GOING TO STOP GOING OUT FOR YOUR SAKE AND YOU CAN FEED ON THE DYING WEEDS FOR ALL I CARE."

By the end of the tirade, Isi had stomped all the way into the kitchen, threw his crutches to the floor beside the couch, ripped open the refrigerator and snatched the milk. He didn't even seem to register that there were other people in the house, given by the cars in the driveway and the fact that they were standing there RIGHT in front of him, IN THE KITCHEN NO LESS, until he had guzzled down a fourth of the milk, and slammed it back onto the counter.

Even then, it was Eiry who, undeterred by Isikoro's raging rant, floated through the walls of the kitchen and cabinets and pointed them out. The raevan looked like he wasn't paying attention at all to what Isikoro was saying when he brightly chimed, "Well met, dear Aphismet and friend!" He didn't stay for long though, it was easy to see he had other intentions on his mind. He was looking around for his very special brother, a small paper bag clutched in his hands that he carried around with pride. He quickly disappeared out of the room, leaving Isi to his own troubles.

"Aphismet and fr..." Isi blinked his eyes and let them focus in on the details of the kitchen. There was Aphismet...And Alex? Isi jumepd back into the counter and fridge, his thick brows raising in shock when he realized that he wasn't alone in the room and, that there was one more added to the usual crowd of the Delaran home! "ALEX!" Isi gasped, his shoulders giving a startle. "Wha-Are you? I...Uh...You-Oh..Ah, God I'm sorry! --Did I?" the rest of his questions came out in a garbled clump of splutters.

Eiry, on the other hand, had found his way to the front entrance, seeing a familiar scorpion wing around the corner of the walls. "Brother!" Eiry called happily, pressing through the last wall corner with his parcel, his face was stretched into a gleeful smile until...

...He saw his brother pinning another strange raevan to the wall, locked in a passionate and fierce battle of tongues. Eiry's face immediately dropped its smile and, for a split moment, Eiry didn't think, a thing quite contrary to his mischievous and planning nature. Setting the bag aside to float on it's own, the will-o-wisp raevan threw himself in between Rivener and Zul, intangibly wedging himself between them, until he willed himself physical and formed a cork, suddenly embraced between the two raevans. He gave a struggled wiggle for a moment, and then forced the two heads away with the palms of his cold hands.

"Brother mine, what is THIS?" the minty sigel bleated, "What, you have changed eyes already? Insolent fool, isn't it known to you that such acts are reserved for the Lenore, the lost of whom one binds their mortal flesh and anchors their immortal soul to theirs and theirs alone? What are you, mad?"
PostPosted: Wed Oct 28, 2009 10:44 pm

Aphismet's smile came close to cracking his skull in two when the woman replied to him. She loved him too! A relieved laugh bubbled up from the chef's stomach and his dark eyes sparkled with clear affection, leaning into the hand cupping his chin. Her mention of real cocoa reminded the man that he'd yet to actually OFFER her a cup of the stuff, and he straightened. He took her hand off his cheek with a hand of his own, pressing a kiss to the olive-skinned palm as he did so. Ah, he still blushed and felt all fluttery in his stomach at giving the small gesture.

"I'll give you cocoa every single day if it helps me keep you. Now sit tight, I'll get your drink. Did you want-"

Aphismet's question, before he even finished letting go of Alex's hand, was interrupted by his brother's loud grumbling. As usual, the boy was griping at his ward who looked absolutely unbothered by it all. The youth stormed into the kitchen and headed straight for the milk, bypassing the two adults completely. Aphismet grinned in amusement.

"Hello, Eiry, welcome back," Aphismet offered the minty Raevan brightly, turning his amused grin back to Isi as the boy floundered. Oh, how amusing it was to watch Isi splutter like that. Aphi finally let go of Alex's hand and moved around to the stove, retreiving three large mugs. "Hot cocoa for you too, Isi?" he asked, glancing at his brother.

Aphismet poured all three mugs regardless of Isi's answer (rather sure the boy would like a mug whether he admit it or not) and handed one to Alex. No brandy this time, perhaps later. Aphi then walked around to sit at Alex's side, giving her an askance look before he glanced at Isi. "Hey, uhm, there's something I'd like to ask you, Isi. ...Well, you know that Alex and I have been dating a while now, right? Like what, seven or eight months, Alex? ...And, well, I was wondering if it was alright with you if I were to ah, have Alex move in here. To live with me. With us." Aphi blushed, grinning like a dumb baboon.

Rivener hadn't heard a damned word echoing through the house. His entire being was focused entirely on the demon in his grasp, intently listening and paying attention to Zul's every reaction. Ah, he liked it at the edge of his torso, at his neck... Mnh, a stronger touch here, a soft caress there... It was like a heady drug, making the Scorpion lose his bearings and tune out the entire world. All that existed was his mouth against Zul's, their tongues intermingling, the touch of the demon's flesh under Riv's fingers and claws. Rivener wanted to do this forever!

He couldn't fathom anything would EVER make him stop, until something slim and green suddenly wedged itself between them, pushing their faces apart with rude mint-colored palms that, at the moment, smelled faintly of gasoline and earth.

Annoyed at being interrupted, Rivener blinked his eyes open and glowered down at his brother. "!@#@$#^$%%#&^@#%#$, Eiry!!! What the hell are you talking about!?" Riv reluctantly separated from Zul, keeping one hand connected to the frei's body and angling his head strangely as his horn was still in Zul's grip. With his free hand Riv yanked Eiry out from between them, pushing him aside. "I have no idea what you're babbling about, but this is my Zul! I love him, I'm meant to be with him, so it's alright to kiss! I don't know that I got everything you were ranting about, but kissing and romance and stuff isn't JUST between boys and girls, idiot! It can be between girls and girls, and between boys and boys too. So calm the hell down!" The Scorpion huffed, placing his hand on his hip.

As vehement as Alex was against calling herself a 'lady,' she couldn't help but feel that she was playing the part with her gentleman of a boyfriend kissing her hand so sweetly. She uttered a soft, smitten giggle, green eyes vivid and bright as he began to offer her the drink that so wonderfully filled the kitchen with its scent. She couldn't help but be startled as something else filled the kitchen; angry, pointed curses, and from Isi no less?!

Surprise was yet hers again when Eiry suddenly floated through the cabinents - and he was a--!! Alex gaped appropriately, watching the minty Sigel float off quickly, her heart jumping up into her throat. He grew! He was okay!! As the white-haired chef moved to make them all hot cocoa, the Italian moved off of the kitchen stool and wrapped Isi up into a tight embrace, kissing his cheek with all the pride and joy she could muster in those stolen seconds. She knew the teen wasn't too keen on her wild attention, but she couldn't stop herself! "I am so, so proud of you, Isikoro!" she breathed joyfully over his cheek before quickly taking her seat, smiling at Aphismet as though she'd done nothing.

She gratefully accepted the mug and took a small sip of the hot liquid. Mm, it was the best tasting drink she'd ever had! Holding the warm mug between both of her hands with the edge against her lips, she winked at Isi, as the last time she'd seen him, she too had given him hot cocoa without askance. Alex felt like a part of the family already! Her green eyes turned to Aphismet, giving him a smile behind her mug and a nod, leaning against him a bit to satisfy her need for contact yet. "Eight," she agreed quietly, casting her eyes again towards the teenager to weigh his reaction. His opinion was important to her, and she'd not stand between siblings.

The feeling of something expanding between himself and Rivener was very unwelcome, the coolness of the touch signaling to him that it was a Raevan. Indeed, his grasp did not release from the Sigel immediately, disbelief writ clear on his tanned visage as his lips and body were suddenly without the pressure of Rivener's own. It wasn't the humans that had pushed them apart, but one of their own!

Zul released the Sigel's horn, mostly to spare him the innate reaction that triggered in him. His body temperature raised, almost hot to the touch, and small, flickering embers began to form in the palm of his gloved hands. The heat rising from his shoulders made his hair waft and move of its own accord, the phospherescent pulse of his gorget glimmering brightly. How DARE you! He's mine--

"--my Zul! I love him!"

Rivener's words took the self-righteous wind of rage out of his sails. The glow in his hands died and the lines in his meager garments returned to a gentle pulse, no longer erratic in warning. The demon exhaled, closing his sky-blue eyes for a moment; what was that about, all of a sudden? That was more like what Laz had done, and he...he was not like that! He wasn't losing his mind...

Opening his eyes again, he took a moment to really look at the minty apparition next to them. He was also a Sigel - which immediately gave a small twinge of envy - and the most soft, smooth color of green that the demon had ever seen. What garnered the most attention from him was Eiry's eyes - they were a fantastic blend of sunset reds that he approved of. Zul wore his friendly smile, and there was even some warmth behind it. He lifted his hand to his chest, bowing towards Eiry as well as he could given his position with Rivener. "You're Rivener's brother? I'm Zul. You have wonderful eyes."

Isi felt like he was a house. A house that was standing right smack dab in the middle of a tornado's path. There were tons of little people all rushing into the supposed sanctuary of his walls, and they could do nothing but watch at the impending wall of wind that was ripping through the countryside towards the little home. That's what Isi felt like in lieu of all these sudden emotions getting force fed, it felt, down his throat on this fine day. Before he even had the chance to complete any sentence, Aphi was pouring hot chocolate for him and Alex had thrown herself onto him, pressing the small of his back into the counter from the ferocity of her hug. As soon as he was released, he reached back to steady himself against the counter top, his legs easily weakening from all the commotion. It was only when Alex had sat back down on the stool again, and that Aphi had proudly asked his question, "their" question rather, that Isi finally had some time to react.

He reacted by blinking, and by blinking, it was large blinks as if Isi was trying to wake himself up from sleep. "Y-yeah, Yeah I've known. It was subtle, but, yeah...Yeah." That was his word for today, "yeah".

Alex? Alex and her raevan come...Come and live in this household? Isi hated questions like this, simply because they meant change and change wasn't something that Isi wasn't particularly well equipped to deal with. It was written into his person, inked into the fine pages that dictated his reactions and personality displayed to the world. He thought about it a little longer, his mind envisioning the sort of changes that would take over the household.

Another raevan...Alex...Alex and Aphi. Zul and Rivener. Then there was him, young Isi and Eiry, the intangible bandit. He thought it was ironic and bitterly comedic how everyone was suddenly paired in the family in light of this impending change. Then a bit of him, the selfish little child that was buried deep underneath his heart, pointed out that it used to be ISI and APHI, and EIRY and RIVENER. That wouldn't be the same. That would change. It would be Aphi and Alex, then Isi. Riv and Zul, then Eiry. Isi didn't like the sound of that.

But...Alex. Alex was the one who helped him...Alex was the friend, the companion at the Lab. The one who offered to go make drinks for them in the kitchen of the Lab since Isi couldn't carry drinks while attached to his crutches. It was Isi and Alex who joked at each other around the Lab corridors. It was Isi and Alex who would laugh up a storm together while outside it rained in retaliation.

Not only that, but Aphi. Isi looked at Aphismet, his gaze softening, his brows knitting in embarrassment at the complete look of dumb love and happiness on Aphi's face. He hadn't been this happy in a long while, not since Chloe...But even then, Alex somehow made him even happier than he was when he was with Chloe. Isi couldn't make Aphi that happy, he knew that. Isi owed so much to Aphi, he didn't know how he would ever repay the Delaran. Except...Maybe he could start with this.

"Jeez, guys," Isi sighed at last, releasing one hand to pull it through the grey that muddied his hair, "What do you think I can say? ESPECIALLY after all that sucking up from the both of you...I guess I'll just have to go break out the extra bedding."

Eiry, despite his refusal to move from between the two raevans, couldn't withstand the strong shove from his brother's arms. He wobbled from the push and twisted about to glare hurtfully at Rivener, his own red eyes challenging the reds of his sibling. At the momentary anger displayed by Zul, Eiry merely frowned and flinched away. He wasn't fearful of any physical pain that they could dish out, he would fade away far quicker than they could move. It just took a whim. But he wasn't concerned with the strange flames and heat from Zul, he was concerned with his brother, the one whom he loved as a brother.

He didn't know how to convey true love to Rivener in words simpler than a Shakespearean love sonnet, but it was something beyond physical want and desire. He read about it in plays, poems, and tales! Romeo and Juliet killed themselves for one another, Othello was driven to insanity for his love was so great for Desdemona that he couldn't stand the thought of losing her to another, Ferdinand dealt with slavery and toil to prove to Miranda his true honest love. THAT was love. Not this...This disgusting lip eating and face sucking!

So Eiry tried to explain it the only way he knew how...With Shakespeare.

"The white cold virgin snow upon my heart
Abates the ardor of my liver...!"
Eiry quoted, gesturing his hands to try and convey that the meaning of this was not his, but geared towards them, Zul and Rivener, "As I hope
For quiet days, fair issue, and long life,
With such love as ’tis now, the murkiest den,
The most opportune place, the strong’st suggestion,
Our worser genius can shall never melt
Mine honor into lust to take away
The edge of that day’s celebration
When I shall think, or Phoebus' steeds are foundered,
Or night kept chained below."

The minty raevan made his gestures again, trying to communicate. He feared that his meaning would be lost to his small audience, and he glanced hurtfully between the two of them, his cheeks swelling up with a pout and the heat of a frustrated blush.

Then Zul made a few motions, a slight awkward bow with an added introduction. Eiry kept his shoulders tight around his neck, keeping his distance between the two, but his garnet gaze upon the younger frei.

"...I am. Eirdirsceol is mine naming. I..." Eiry wasn't sure how to respond to the compliment, so he floated there, torn between offense and common courtesy hammered into his ethics by his guardian.

Aphismet blinked back at his sibling. And blinked. And blinked. And then knotted his eyebrows up and blinked again, biting his lip and glancing at Alex nervously. Isi was taking so long... Aphi knew the kid wouldn't be keen on change, but this was Alex they were talking about! She LOVED the younger Delaran! So much that sometimes Aphi (and he was ashamed to admit this even to himself) sometimes felt jealous of his younger brother who got to be with her all day long, laugh with her, enjoy her wonderful presence. Isi should have been happy, shouldn't he?

So why was it taking so long? The chef's fingers played over his mug slowly and he kept staring at Isikoro expectantly, waiting for a reply. And when it came, even if it was a permission granted, Aphismet got up and walked over to his sibling, placing a hand on the boy's head and ruffling the hair softly before he spoke with a concerned voice. "Hey, are you really alright with this? We don't have to, you know, if it makes you uncomfortable. ...You know it'll still be you and me, brothers forever, right?" The chef smiled, glancing over at Alex and knowing instantly that he'd have her support. She was just great like that. "This won't be you getting nudged out of the picture, you know. It's gonna be like you're gaining a big sister!"

They'd been through something like this once before, when Aphismet had considered asking Chloe to take their relationship further. Isi had felt a little left behind. Perhaps that was why the boy was meeting this with less enthusiasm than Aphi had wished for?

...And Aphi figured he shouldn't yet bring up the whole concept that perhaps they wouldn't NEED extra bedding for Alex. ...That was a little too personal a business to be discussing with the younger Delaran before he'd even discussed it with his girlfriend. He blushed at the mere thought.

Rivener stared at his brother with that look that meant he hadn't understood a single word that just came out of the other Sigel's mouth. He really admired Eiry for understanding that Shakespeare stuff so well, and Riv normally prided himself on being rather good at deciphering strange Raevan-speak, but that was just too much sometimes. He sighed huffily, glancing at the ceiling in frustration before he spotted Zul bowing prettily to the side, offering his name and even a compliment. Rivener smiled proudly, looking to Eiry for his reaction.

Which, as it turned out, wasn't very nice. He spoke nicely enough, but that look of mild offense on Eiry's face was making Rivener angry. He frowned. "Eiry, I have no idea what you were prattling on about. If that whole spiel was about love, then you're WAY out of date. No one does love that way anymore." There, that was the first part taken care of. Rivener then floated a few inches closer to Zul and slipped his hand in the frei's. "This is my Zul and no matter what you say, he's the one I love. So if you're going to be hating him, be prepared to be hating me, too. Clear?"

As though Rivener would stand for anyone talking to his Zul like that. It was clear that unlike Aphismet, Rivener was not going to be playing this diplomatically. The Scorpion was clearly going to pick a side if the two Raevans he loved best would start fighting. He only wished it wouldn't come to that, so he supposed he should make it clear that he'd prefer peace... with a soft sigh, Riv reached a hand out for his brother. "Look, can't you get along together? I'd like us all to be friends. Zul's a good guy, Eiry. You should get to know him."
